Daley Goes Round the Bend

  • Daley agreed that, “We’re in a serious economic crisis. ...Taxpayers are feeling the pinch.”

Today, the mayor changed his story — by pointing fingers at the union.

“In all fairness, I did not take this off the table. They took it off the table. Let’s set the record straight so you understand that,” Daley said after launching the annual Spring Clean program at Harper High School, 6520 S. Wood.

Really? The above is the Sun Times report. They quote FOP President Donahue as saying, "That’s absolutely not true. ... I can’t believe he said that."

The Tribune's Clout Street blog goes a bit further:
  • After the news conference, Daley spokeswoman Jacquelyn Heard acknowledged that in fact it was the administration that had withdrawn the 16 percent offer.

“The spirit of what he said is absolutely true. The offer of the 16 percent increase in pay had been on the table for about a year. That’s a clear indication that [the police union] thought it was inadequate. The reaction to that was to withdraw the offer. The city’s response was to the union’s reaction," she said.

Heard said the mayor’s comments today were meant to counter an “effort to lead the public to believe he doesn't value [police] enough to offer them a raise.”

So what do you do when your boss goes completely around the twist and out-and-out lies to the media who reported just over a week ago that the City (Daley) is the one who pulled the offer off the table, contradicting actual published reports? Jackie is spinning fit to burst because she knows Shortshanks has been caught in a provable lie, so she says "The spirit of what he said is absolutely true."

The spirit? The spirit ain't paying the bills Jackie. And the spirit isn't covering the tax raises by the city, county or state that are sucking our wallets dry.

Even when caught in an outright lie the media still lets him off the hook. Amazing.

Its no wonder then that the media does not mention that the 16% was over 5 years (3.2 a year, less than the alercreatures raise by the way), and was only one of many issues that were being hammered out for the contract. It makes it look like we were hung up on the raise alone. That offer also included numerous ways to get it back (loss of some benefits and increases in employee contributions and other things that go past a normal employee/employer relationship). But at this point should any of us be surprised with biased reporting from the mainstream media?

This was posted on the Chicago Sun Times comments:

We can only hope and pray that the International Olympic Committee does not select Chicago as the site for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Every city that has ever hosted the Summer Olympics has lost money, with the exception of Los Angeles. Chicago can ill afford to waste taxpayer money on a two week series of games. The infrastructure of Chicago is literally falling apart, pothole city, and can not safely host such a large event.

The Chicago Police Department lays in ruin. The CPD is currently undermanned by 2,000+ sworn police officers and counting. This is a huge public safety issue and correlates directly to the epidemic explosion in skyrocketing crime.

Orwellian "Big Brother" cameras and Daley private security goons will not and can not stop the crime explosion. Don't be fooled by the deception of "Big Brother" cameras and untrained private security hacks.

The CPD and the CFD are approaching two years without a contract. Equipment is falling apart, roadways look like they have been carpet bombed, the Chicago Public Schools are a national joke, the CTA buses are falling apart and never on time and foreclosures are epidemic in Chicagoland.

If Daley wants to complete some noteworthy projects, here is a list: finish the Chicago Spire, Waterview, Crosstown Expressway, Casino for the old Main Post Office, rebuild and make Meigs Field operational, highspeed rail connecting Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, St Louis and Indianapolis. These are very worthwhile mega projects that would pump billions of dollars into not only Chicago, but the entire Midwest and leave permanent benefits, unlike the 2016 Olympics.

Mr. Mayor has made Chicago the city with the highest sales tax in the USA to finance his Olympic Legacy Obsession. The Olympics are the finale, to place a capstone on the Daley Legacy; and the negative impact upon Chicago residents means nil to Daley.

Daley only cares about himself and his pockets. Daley will fill his pockets and his cronies pockets full with the taxpayers money while we endure a Depression and literally starve.

It is hightime to Dump Daley before his lunatic obsessions and rampant corruption destroy the great city of Chicago

there ain't no money to plow the snow or fill potholes.
there ain't no money no where, no how.

Chicago, City of No Shame:
--#1 in homicides in USA
--#1 in high taxes
--#1 in big-city public school drop-out rates (51%)
--#1 in corruption
--#1 in FBI agents assigned to investigate corruption

People - stop voting for this tax-grabbing lunatic and maybe he'll go away!

Historically - Every time in my life I've gotten fucked-over and lied to, its always been a white Irish POS.

South Western Avenue [circa 1974] -
sure Kid - thats the real mileage on the Plymouth...

Recruiter [circa 1977] - sure Kid, we'll keep you and your cousin together under the "Buddy plan..."
He goes to San Diego and I go to Paris...

Alderman [circa 1982] -
Sure Kid, I'll make sure you get to a district you want and keep you on afternoons, so you can finish school...
First half of my Career in Englewood, rotating with the watch, only getting dropped from the watch to stay on midnights...

District commander [circa late 80s] - Gee Kid, sorry about your partner, the department will take care of his wife and young son... Oh shit, looks like that's bleeding again, I'll see if I can find the nurse for you on my way out...

Various bosses on the CPD and Mayor [present day] -
It's all on the square Kid, work hard, we'll promote only worthy people based on real world actual meritorious qualifications...

The song remains the same...

Daley failed to mention that the 16% was an offer for 5 years not 4%. Duty and Uniform getting taxed now right, they weren't in the past. Highest sales tax in the nation, highest gasoline prices in the nation, property tax up, dog tags up, water bill up, electric and natural gas went up, you have to send your kid to private school to avoid the gangs and drugs (big money), bottled water tax up, parking meters up, parking garages up, union dues up, state income tax soon to go up, health insurance way up. Everytime our contract is up, we have to battle for table scraps.

First responsdors should get paid decent wages. Since we have a residency clause, we are stuck living in this crappy corrupt city and county and we're all continually losing money every year that goes by. The more time I got on the job and the more hours I work in a week, the more money I should make right? Not her in Crook County/Shitcago. Divorce rate, suicide rate, stress levels, health problems, risk of injury or death being a cop all factors on paying us a decent raise (on-time too). Daley, Pay Us What We Deserve! You've got all that money socked away for an Olympics that nobody wants and that will leave this city in ruins. Pay Up!

Daley is certifiably insane.

Check around the lakefront beaches and parks. At a cost of about $500 per 24 hrs. at each location, Chicago Park District security is "guarding" the absurd.

Pull into the LaSalle Dr. cul de sac at North Avenue Beach at any hour of the day. You will find a security employee in auto keeping watch over "Triathalon" pennants mounted over 12 feet high on five poles.

Possible vandalism? Give me a break.

This megalomaniac's obsession with the 2016 Olympics is based solely on "the Daley Legacy", let the taxpayers be damned.

Come October, if the Chicago bid succeeds, watch this corrupt rat elaborate on the need to tax us to the poor house in an attempt to just break even.

As a hard working citizen taxpayer struggling to support my family, I despise this mayor. I really wish he would disappear, be it a prison cell or whatever.

I am no expert on the pension, but the city's responsibility, as I understand it, is to make its contributions, which is approximately twice what members contribute in total over the year. According to ths last several yearly Pension Board reports, the city (Daley) has done so.

If it is grossly underfunded, and that is a matter of some debate, it is because of bad investments, too much spending, and perhaps too many disability awards, and maybe simple mismanagement. Maybe this new guy Shields can do something about that. In many ways, it resembles Social Security, it is asimple matter of more going out than is coming in. Remember that when you criticize the board for not granting someone duty disability. The point is that maybe you can blame the Mayor for many thngs, but it appears that the city has upheld its pension obligations, at least over the last several years. The newest report for 2008 should be out soon.

What bothers me the most is that Daley is a public official which means he is suppose to service the people and act in there best interest. Instead he is draining our resources, taxes and creating new and creative ways to get more money out of us. The sad part is he keeps getting voted into office. Do anyone realizes that he is selling our city out to the highest bidder. Ex: parking meters. the meters are owned by the people, meaning us and he leased it out for approx.70 yrs. that is revenue for our city that is now in the hands of an outsider who can charge whatever they want. Shame on us for allowing this man to control us and our city with such a I don't give a f@*k attitude. We collectively have the power to stop this however if not it will continue and get worse. Now I can see how notorious leaders became unstoppable and tormented millions of people because not enough stood up. It is time. All of the old machine and old politicians need to go. It is time for new blood new focus. It is our time. That goes for FOP as well.
