First Homicide?

  • A 61-year old woman was found dead in her South Side home Saturday afternoon, the apparent victim of a home invasion, police said.

The incident happened in the 11000 block of South Lowe Avenue in the Roseland neighborhood. According to police, the door to the residence was kicked in and a number of items were taken, including the victim's 1998 Jeep Wrangler which was later recovered.

Police said the victim had signs of blunt trauma.
  • An unidentified body, apparently of a male, was found in the trunk of a car in the Englewood neighborhood this afternoon, officials said.

The body of a decomposed person was found in the trunk of a car on the 5700 block of South Loomis Avenue, according to a spokesman with the Cook County medical examiner's office.

[...] police are awaiting the results of an autopsy scheduled for Sunday.
Questions questions.

J-Fed has a horseshoe up his ass. Dec 2008 was in the top ten for snowiest and coldest. Now, the same thing in 2009, temps and snow right behind 2008. Now this year us starting off like last year, cold, not as much snow yet, but cold. Last winter was one of the coldest and snowiest on history. Let's see if his luck holds. Oh yeah, weather has nothing to do with it, it is all J-Feds strategy that is bringing crime down

RD numbers or time of occurrence do not count regarding 1st homicide. The only thing that matters is time of death...when was the body officially pronounced dead? First body, pronounced after 0000hrs Sat morning, and that will be classified as a homicide, gets the prize.

So, looking at the two deaths listed by SCC, all one would need to do is look at the time the bodies were pronounced. It doesn't matter if the one in the trunk was a skeleton. If it was pronounced after the old lady, then the old lady is the 1st homicide and Junebug is number 2. If Junebug in the trunk was pronounced first, then Junebug gets to be number 1. Very simple. Takes all the guesswork out of the equation. Sometimes you may have to wait for a definitive answer, such as if Junebug in the trunk is classified as a death investigation pending the autopsy. After a week or so, all that should be resolved. Then it just comes down to time of death.

Bad guys can do what they want here in Chicago. Case in point was today (Sunday 03-JAN-10 at @1100) a 1st District car called in a car chase and said they were doing 35 mph (thats right just 35 mph) and car would not pull over and had 2 occupants. What do think 1-99 (watch commander) says on the radio - what else - TERMINATE CHASE - it's only 35 mph and he terminates chase. After the temp plate is run, it was learned that car was taken in an armed robbery. So then a traffic car spots car at 18th and LSD with now just 1 occupant. Way to go 1-99 no balls, terminate a 35 mph chase on Sunday with no traffic or pedestrians in area !!!!

Time to give props to the Sup for the crime reduction. You plums my want to blame the weather, medical care, or who knows what else (you ponies have a lot of excuses)but the real reason we are seeing a drop in crime is due to the new stratgies implemented by the boss.

Have a good new year all and be safe!

Leo "Woooooh" Schmitz vs. Down Town Ernie Brown!

Rumor has it that the South Side Reverends got wind of the Leo article being put out to publicize him and his Gang Enforcement Squad but the REV's pulled some strings to get EB's article out first (noticeably before the end of the year) so that he can take most of the credit for the "alleged" homicide and overall crime reduction. This was "allegedly" all done without JFED's, PETERSON'S and DA MAYOR'S consent but it doesn't matter. Everyone knows that EB will not be touched because of the repercussions. Like when JFED demoted him back down to a LT. and the REVS stormed into City Hall and threatened to drop their endorsement and support ($) for Shortshanks they immediately promoted him back up to a CHIEF!

Anyhow it should be fun, have at it EB and LS!

Police: focus on fighting gangs cut murders in '09
CRIME | 2009 saw 459 killings, compared with 511 in 2008

January 2, 2010

BY FRANK MAIN Staff Reporter:

Chicago Police took their fight against gangs to a new level in 2009 -- one of the reasons murder and other crimes were down almost across the board in the city last year, officials say.

About 400 gang officers were pulled out of the city's 25 districts and placed under Cmdr. Leo Schmitz in the citywide gang enforcement section. Police Supt. Jody Weis announced the shift in late 2008 as he was coming under criticism for a spike in crime in the city.

The reorganization, championed by Deputy Supt. Steve Peterson, aimed to create a "leaner, more agile operation" to combat gangs deemed responsible for at least half of Chicago's killings, Weis said at the time.

If skeletal remains are discovered or pronounced moments after the beginning of the new year, that's a pimpy win.

We should use the 3 day rule. You have to hide the head for 3 days blah, blah, blah, so nothing older than 3 days dead can be a winner, hence, skeletal remains would be disqualified. Also, a delayed death, from an incident older than 72 hours from the beginning of the new year, would also be ineligible.

To qualify, the cause and effect should be required to have both occurred after midnite. Time of occurrence should reign, not time pronounced.
