Still Out There

  • At least three people were shot and injured tonight in the South Side's Englewood neighborhood, officials said.

The shooting happened at about 8:15 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Halsted Street, police said. Police were still on the scene investigating as of about 9 p.m.

A fire department spokesman said three people were taken to local hospitals in serious-to-critical condition.

A few others:
Supposedly, the shooting in 011 involved a semiautomatic rifle and not one 011 District officer ran away from the scene.

Valiant effort, officer! I do commend the fact that you are one of the few still doing “Pro-active” police work! HOWEVER, a word of caution: You gotta be fucking NUTS to still be doing “Pro-active” police work! Its gonna get stuck in your ass unless you have a phone-call to save you! Its going to get you CR’s, which puts you smack in the middle of a witch-hunt by IRPA (who have never been and hate the POLICE) or IAD (Where the majority have never been and don’t want to be the POLICE). You are at an exponentially greater risk of getting stressed out over bullshit, suspended for bullshit, sued for bullshit or fired for bullshit.

Want to go to a unit? Too many CR’s kid, come back in a few years after this shit goes away. Want that merit promotion? Too many CR’s kid, come back in a few years after this shit goes away. I know the CR’s are bullshit, you know the CR’s are bullshit… but it’s an excuse to fuck with you! And after you get enough of those CR’s (Even if they are bullshit), you become a liability for the bosses.

As soon as you figure out the sad, but true fact that NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT YOU with the exception of your partner (hopefully), your Sgt (If they aren’t trying to be a LT) and at the absolute most, your LT (If they aren’t trying to be a Cdr). Keep kicking ass and taking names! All of that great police work, numbers, heads, guns… that gets someone else promoted, NOT YOU!
-So true. This officers should be the first thing you read on the BLOG this morning. Was on an earlier post but bears repeating.

Off topic, but look at this:

http://www.borderlandbeat.com/2010/04/video-of-massacre-in-creel.html#more

It shows video shot from remote police POD cameras in Creel, Mexico. Dozens of cartel gunmen shoot up the town and terrorize the populace for 90 minutes. The police pan and zoom, following the action... But nobody responds or interferes. (Though to be fair, they'd need a whole company of infantry with armored vehicles to do so.)

It shows what the ultimate result can be when you replace police with cameras.

None of daley's pals will get killed this summer in the war zones of the city. It will be poor blacks and hispanics and kids playing in the streets. They don't have the luxury to jump into their Amoured SUV's to flee the scene. They will have to be there as the reverends drink the J-Fled koolaid. Pinhole cameras saving the city.bawhahahahaha

Your ONLY reward for doing “Pro-Active Police Work” is:

#1) Your personal satisfaction.

#2) Acknowledgement from others around you that you consider your peers (A.K.A. The Real Police).

And every once and a while, when you do get a true “Bad Guy”, I mean one that will go out and do harm to some “Legit”, or honest Citizen, and you get to put them in a well deserved cage for a long time… that note from the CCSAO that lets you know he just got 15, 20, 20 years in Prison… that to gives you some slight satisfaction.

Outside of that, expect to get shit on and fucked with. Enjoy your rewarding career with the Chicago Police Department, and remember; “Earned, not given” (well, ok, for $310K a year for 3 years). Call your mother, she still loves and cares about you. Stay safe and try to have fun! -All agreed on this team.

City Council panel OKs $3 million in police chase crash
April 12, 2010 1:01 PM | No Comments
A key City Council committee today recommended approval of a $3 million settlement in the case of a young woman who suffered a permanent brain injury in a crash involving a stolen vehicle being followed by police.

If approved Wednesday at the council meeting, the family of Regina Varela would receive the $3 million. She suffers a host of cognitive problems as a result of the August 2004 crash.

Varela, who was 17 when the crash occurred, was a passenger in a car headed west on Addison Street at Kedzie Avenue when a stolen conversion van being pursued by police ran a red light and hit the car broadside.

The man driving the stolen van, a passenger in the van and a witness on the street testified police had been chasing the van for several blocks, according to a Law Department news release.

ATTN: My COWARDICE complaint vs. J-FLED

I had a phone conversation with "Mr. G" from the Office of the Inspector General, City of Chicago. He requested a personal interview with me. I am willing to meet with "G" on my terms to confirm my COWARDICE complaint filed on April 3, 2010.

I advised "G" that I made two personal visits to CPD Beat 725. I refused to state the time of my visits. IF, in fact, I had any conversation(s) with any sworn CPD personnel, most specifically Englewood Rangers (007), I would refuse to identify him/her/them for an obvious reason: inevitable RETALIATION by operatives of the City of Chicago.

Aside from the public record (WBBM-TV videotape, newspaper and radio interviews) and blog sites, I advised him that the homicide file (R.D. No. HS-238292) on the fatal shooting of Reginald MYERS (M/1/20) at 6948 S. Paulina St. (on Good Friday, April 2nd at about 3:31 PM) would assist him in his investigation. I submitted to "G" that there is incontrovertible evidence that CPD Supt. Jody P. WEIS is a COWARD.

While I believe a personal interview with me would not provide any probative information on the investigation into the unconscioable and despicable act of cowardice ("gotta run") by J-FLED, I offered my cooperation on my terms.

If anyone would like to provide me with additional information, I assure you that your indentity will remain CONFIDENTIAL. You can eMail me at cpdfop7@yahoo.com Your private telephone number could prove helpful in the event we want to discuss your CONFIDENTIAL information further.

In the remote event that Mr. Weis has the cojones to hold a media press conference on this subject, I urge him to do so. Also, please define your "gear".

--------------

That officer's rant is the LAST thing anyone should be reading, especially in the morning.

This is an awesome job. It's not what it was, but it's way better than anything a copper should expect to find in the real world.

Think differently? Then, head out to the local private company and start working for them.

Medical? Pension at 50? Layoffs (if any) by senority? Overtime?????

Try this line on your new boss:

"Hey, things happen that are out of my control. I can't be responsible for everything. How do you expect me to get results with the equipment you give me?"

Too many coppers start this job too young. Their entire life experience boils down to high school and a couple of years boozing it up at college. The rest of their life falls into the same pattern. Too many coppers instantly develop a 50 year-old city worker mentality before they're thirty.

Poor work habits, easily defeated by the first setback, constantly emphasizing the negative, an overall lack of professionalism, a professed belief that what they do does not matter, and most commonly, an incredible belief that they are owed something.

Too many cops don't know how good we have it. To them, everything is just so unfair on this job.

The trick is, they won't ever know how good they had it unless they leave. Then, they'd learn real fast just how "fair" the real world is.

4/12/2010 06:10:00 PM

.......................

Serious answer from someone who has lived North and South in the City.

The North side is really not that much better (If at all) then Mt Greenwood. If anything the area you could live in up there is getting smaller. 10 years ago I would have told you it was Ok to live North of Irving, Now I would not consider anything South of Foster. Think of it how we could live safely in St, Bedes, Scottsdale or Parts of Beverly years ago.
The North side has their $hit wandering the neighbor hood due to the Blue line plus they have a lot of euro trash up there.

Look up 016 in I-clear, you will be amazed at what happens up there. One of the biggest reasons you don't hear about it is because it is reported after the fact as the Police cant always get there in a timely manner. As bad as the Police coverage is in Mt Greenwood (Not blaming 022, they do a great job, but they keep getting pulled east away from us for job after job) the beats in 016 are huge and just like 022 the guys in 016 do a great job but have way too large of an area to patrol.

Also a lot of what you hear going on is due to a large number of Police and Fire living there being pro-active off duty when It comes to the neighborhood. In 016 there are a lot of Police and Fire but they are spread out among a lot of non-city workers who cant take police actions. In 022 you cant swing a dead cat without hitting a off duty CPD or CFD (Among many other city workers)

I don't know how much time you have or even your money situation. If you do move up North get as close to Niles or Park Ridge as you can. I personally would stay in Mt Greenwood. At least here we all pretty much know each other and know who is coming in to cause trouble.

Either way good luck and stay safe.

(Sorry for the long post SCC)

Hey Northside, that complaint is going to be closed for "non-cooperation" on your part. When you state you'll only cooperate on YOUR terms, it opens a legit window for the case to be closed for lack of cooperation. I know because I do it everyday when shit heads refuse to meet to sign a Sworn Affidavit against an officer.

Not criticizing, just giving a heads up.

OFF TOPIC, serious question:
I'm living in mt greenwood, and it's time for me to get my family the heck out of here...is the far northwest side still a safe bet?

We have heard that problem from some people, and cannot figure out what the problem is. Please try another one we set up:

ColeBenefit@gmail.com

Both should work from the tests we have done. One person admitted to typing it in as a web address rather than as an e-mail address....That's the only thing I can verify so far.
Thank you for your patience. Please contact me in 022 2nd watch, DOG 61, if there are still problems. We are looking at an organizational meeting of some sort in 10-days to 2 weeks.

Thank you for the "heads up". It's covered.

According to Zone 6 radio (Dists. 007 and 008), it appears that the first 007 unit did not get to the scene until NINE (9) minutes after the fatal shots were fired.

Plausible conclusion: J-Fled was closest (45 seconds) from the homicide when Mr. Myers was fatally shot.

A story unto itself: Most if not all of 007 responding were ONE-PERSON (10-99) units.

In the event that other local media does not pick up on this unconscionable act of cowardice, it would support the premise held by most police officers that local media is "in bed with Richard M. Daley".

Coward, criminal, whatever. John Northen is the last person you want to f-ck with. Trust me on that. I know. Jody Weis is toast. He must quit in disgrace or be fired.

Every cop on the job knows that J-Fled is a coward. If Shortshanks is stubborn and stupid enough to keep him around, both of them will face the consequences. Every time the coward opens his mouth, we must try not to laugh in his face.
