Stone Park Officer Wounded
A 28-year-old man was charged tonight with shooting a Stone Park police officer with a shotgun from a nearby strip mall as the officer conducted a traffic stop early this morning, police in the west suburban city said.
Rashaun Carlisle, of Melrose Park, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful use of a firearm, police said in a statement.
The police officer, three-year-veteran Robert Vicari, was hit in the face and shoulder, but was not seriously hurt, authorities said. Vicari was back home this afternoon, said Stone Park Mayor Beniamino Mazzulla.
And the Tribune Company should be ashamed and publicly castigated for the comments it's been letting through on this one:
- "Cops should think twice before harrasing people.Suspicious activity my right eye!"
- "The shooting is payback for police brutality."
There's more if you're in the mood for it. Everyone and their brother should be canceling their subscriptions tomorrow and telling everyone they know to cancel theirs. Evidently, someone left the keys to the BreakingNews site with the bush league editors this weekend.

If the politicians and the media will not support you, at least your neighborhood will. Protect the homefront.
the sheeple of cook county have been on the wrong side of the argument for a long time. the police are the only ones putting their asses on the line. the pols and media have demonized us to hide their own shortcomings.an officer is shot and the koolaid drinkers take another big sip.your ego wont allow you to say ''thank you''for police officers doing a difficult job. godspeed to the injured officer and shame on the trib for posting those comments.
I heard this unofficial account of the shooting out of Stone Park:
Two Stone Park tactical officers were struck by rounds from a sawed-off shotgun. One officer was struck in the chest and was uninjured (vest). The second officer received six pellet wounds, one in the shoulder and five in the face. One pellet lodged itself behind the Officers eye. Surgeons believe they could cause more damage trying to remove the pellet, so they have opted to monitor it closely, but will leave it behind his eye.
Both officers have been treated and released, the offender is in custody and the weapon was recovered.
Bless our law enforcement officers everywhere and a safe and speedy recovery to Officer Vicari
I'm all for freedom of speech but comments like that are over the line. What's worse is how those comments are not removed, only to encourage a flood of similar comments. If the p.o.s. gangbanger was shot I bet those same comments would be censored. God bless the officer. Glad to hear he is already healing at home with his family.
Hope the copper has a full and swift recovery. God Bless.

Consider my subscription canceled.
Not a policeman.

Look at dslc blog, same s%*t and he hides behind free speech also
Pussies, all of them
Am not an Officer, but found it sickening within recent days, when another CPD Officer was almost killed by gunfire during traffic stop, that my very pro-CPD comment was never posted to the related story on that site, yet these idiot CPD haters' comments were allowed to dominate/germinate.
Believe it is same group of CPD haters frequently getting preferential treatment by media-posting screeners re any story where CPD Officer(s) almost gets killed.
Leave it to Chicago media to stir up ignorant CPD haters/pot of controversy at the expense of safety of CPD Officers. UNBELIEVABLY BARBARIC!!!
I pray fine Officers are recovering, and for comfort of their families knowing they are still with them.
That their poor families will now suffer even more fear for their safety every day from this day forward as long as those Officers remain on the force is more than any of us citizens should ask. And all to protect some of the same fools spewing anti-CPD sentiments.
Thank you, Officers, for your unflinching courage in the direct line of fire!! Godspeed as you both heal!
The Trib will routinely not have comments on most non-police crime stories. They are scared to offend the real Offenders.
Godspeed, Office. Get well soon!
Why shouldn't Carlos Sadovi, the co-writer of this article, be held more accountable for censoring anti-law enforcement comments related to his articles about cops getting injured?
Here's his email address:
csadovi@tribune.com
If I recall correctly, wasn't Sadovi the one who wrote that misleading headline online, a few months back, regarding the female CPD Officer who was hit by a vehicle that ran a stop, in which the driver of that vehicle expired.
Sadovi refused to change the headline, which misled readers into thinking that the Officer was to blame for accident, when the opposite was the case.
The comments to that article were heavily anti-CPD/not censored.
And, just as is the case with this current story about an injured cop, there were good people imploring that Sadovi change the headline to make it reflect the truth, but he did not as far as I know.
In fact, I suspected back then that maybe good ol' Carlos likes the extra hits he gets from SCC's links to his article's derogatory comments. Wouldn't it look better for his online readership numbers?
Or, worse, maybe Carlos is feeding his own anti-cop comments into his own articles, for SCC attention.
Bless that officer. Unbelieveable.... the mindset of so many against the police. Maybe you have run into some Ahole police but don't judge the cover on everyone of us that you see just as you expect us not too.
Birdshot?
I will also cancel mine as well. They are what is wrong with America. No morals, No soul,
They are completly wrong.
Thanks for all of your support and
thanks to all the other agencies that came to help.
Bob is doing well and will resee the doctors on Monday, please put him in your prayers.
Stay Safe.
A SPPD Officer.
I'm not an officer, however, I contacted Carlos Sadovi via email as soon as I read your posting SCC.
I asked him directly if he was anti-law enforcement and if that is why he was allowing the anti-cop comments to remain attached to a story about an officer who was shot by an offender.
He replied immediately, and said that he is taking the comments off the story. He said he was not aware of them.
He says he only wrote the story about injured officer and did not write the anti-law enforcement comments.
His response seemed genuine.
As my Nana always said, Hurrah for our side. :)
It does not surprise me reading the comments made by the sheep. It is actually pretty funny that these people who consider themselves educated, are some of the dumbest sounding people on the planet.I always expect the typical crooked cop anti police bullshit, but some of these nitwits thoughts are some of the most off the wall garbage.Listen up sheep..you wanted this type of police dept!!! Well you got it.Please do not bother calling the Police, handle it yourselves. You people did this, the "monster" was always here...but you all let him out of his cage and tied our hands from keeping him somewhat controlled.Enjoy the robberies/burglaries/rapes/shootings/dope dealing/ and all the other savage crimes that are committed. You do not care and neither do we!When the mayor leaves, that beady eyed rat fuck Supt leaves. The police are able to police without constant scrutiny and threat of losing employment/freedom...THEN YOU WILL SEE THINGS GET BETTER.UNTIL THEN 2%
I post On there regularly & get censored regularly. I don't swear I don't say anything racial because you can't have an opinion on people unless it shows them as angels. Anyway, I'm tired of their shit and I won't be gazing at their site anymore. By the way, they get payed by how many visits they get.
Just check back this afternoon and what do you know all the comment are gone..WTG SCC
I find it amazing that the news outlets... media , politico's etc.go after police officers and white males? But god forbid you call someone a terrorist even when they are, like the attempted times square bomber. And the chicago news outlets and politicos will not address gang problem. You have to go to the history channel on cable and watch gangland. Society is fucked up.

I used to (try to) post comments there, ALWAYS pro-police. Then one day I could not post anything there... it wouldn't allow it and I've never been able to post there since then. I can only assume they have banned me from their site, perhaps thru my IP address?
To be fair, I post comments on there frequently and more often than not they aren't really held for moderation as it states, if you refresh the page it posts immediately.
Secondly, although the comments are beyond absurd, I don't think it should be the duty of the Tribune to censor free speech if it's within reason. Honestly, deleting the comments isn't going to change anything; I kind of like to know what the mindset of the enemy is.
Just an update on OFC Vicari's condition: The specialist wants the swelling to go down before they decide to try and remove the pellet lodged near his eye. They might leave it in, they run the risk of permantantly blinding him during surgery.
Please keep him in your prayers. Bobby's a great guy, and will ALWAYS back up his fellow officers on calls and fights. He's had my back on a few donnybrooks over the years.
