"Boutique" Gun Store?

  • A north suburban gunshop owner hoping to open stores in the Loop and Lincoln Park has filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Chicago and Mayor Daley alleging the new gun ordinance infringes on the constitutional rights of residents.

Joseph Franzese, owner of Villa Park-based Second Amendment Arms, and Robert M. Zieman Sr. filed the suit Friday in U.S. District Court against the city, the mayor, Police Supt. Jody Weis, City Clerk Miguel Del Valle and Corporation Counsel Mara Georges.

Franzese wants to open "boutique" type gun stores in Lincoln Park and on Michigan Avenue downtown, according to his lawyer Walter Maksym, one of Drew Peterson's lawyers in his pending murder case.

Maybe they could serve tea and those little cakes while you look for the latest .45 caliber semi-auto to protect your Lincoln Park condo property that's losing value hand-over-fist.

Daley would crap a brick.

SCC, I think the proposed owners of these "boutique" establishments are going to win their case! Yes, Daley may shit a brick, but some things are going to be out of his control now. People want guns, and they are going to go out and purchase them in droves now(OR at least one per month!). And they're going to pay premium prices for their little 'conversation pieces' if they buy them at the locations cited in the lawsuit...Lincoln Park, indeed! HAHAHAHA!

I'd love to see a nice place selling fine firearms in Chicago. A classic masculine sort of establishment, full of wood and leather, game animals and such. A place that caters to decent folks; not the little punk wannabes or the know-it-all tactical commandoes or the fat used-to-be's.

I have no reason for one, but I've always wanted a double rifle, in a nitro express caliber. I'm sure it'd work just as well as anything else for shooting some shithead breaking into my home. And blasting Pookie with a Holland and Holland may be eccentric, but it's got style.

Once upon a time, you could walk into the Marshall Field Men's Store on Wabash and buy a weapon. My first civilian weapon purchase was at Shore Galleries. I'll never return to Chicago, but it would be nice to see gun shops of any kind in and near the city again. Although, I note that Joe Franzese's proposed store is not aimed at your average working stiff who is hard-pressed to scrape up the money for an RIA 1911, let alone shop at a "boutique" store.

This guy is right on the money. He will have no problem getting those yuppies to fork over the $$$ for a high end .45 1911 . Joe Yuppie is awakening from the kool-aid induced fog and realizing the Police are not coming back in significant numbers.

What a marvelous idea! I want a custom engraved .40 S&W caliber semiautomatic pistol with cocobolo grips and a hot pink laser. Perhaps Hermes, Prada, Ives Saint-Laurent, Gucci and Giorgio Armani could offer an elegant selection of Italian calfskin holsters.

I want the hottest OC pepper spray in the world. I want that naga jolokia chili pepper from the Assam region of northeastern India. Habanero and jalepeno are bland in comparison. Naga jolokia is over a million Scoville heat units. Now that's HOT! A diamond encrusted lipstick-sized dispenser in lavender would be so cool.

Then again, they could always sell the regular stuff at Costco and WalMart.

Even if this guy wins his case I wouldn't buy a gun in the city just because of the insane taxes you'd have to pay. Like with everything else, I spend my money outside the city.

Since moving back home to Chicago in 1997, I had been wanting to get to a range again to shoot my M1911 and Sig 226.

The day before SCOTUS' ruling (albiet a scary one at 5-4) as to the founding fathers intent of the 2nd Amendment being written to assure the people have the right to bear arms or it being a right lended to the State.

What an obscene perversive attempt at taking away the rights of the people to the benifit of the "State/Government".

Had the attempt been successful, what other rights would they take from us next.

Anyway, for the first time in 13 years I took the boys for a walk at Maxon in Des Plaines. Man I forgot about the muzzel flash, kick, plume of spent powder and the nice weighted feel of that .45. Really sweet. Right-off, I was high and to the right. But heck, it's been 13 years since I shot the thing. With no sight adjustments necessary, I quickly dialed it in for a nice dead center cluster.

In case it was the right SCOUTS ruling, I took the sillouette targets home and planned to post a few on trees, telephone, polls etc. in my Chicago neighborhood with "Thank You SCOTUS!! Now the animal must take a bigger risk! written on 'em.

Never posted 'em though.

I really like the idea of taking Shortshsnks to the woodshed {SCOTUS} but pro-gun folks need to pick their lawsuits carefully so as not to bring a poor case into court and set a precedent.

This guy is aligned with a questionable website {icarry[dot]org] which is run by someone who flips in and out of the debate. Just ask him about Liberty Dollars and tax protesters out east. GOOGLE Shaun Kranish and you can see who Joe holds up as an example.

I was at Maxon Gun store in Des Plaines a few days ago and mentioned to the armed counterman that the store was very busy and all he did was grin and said "Business is good". They have a huge inventory of ALL guns and ammo and are decent people to deal with. Also have a range on sight.
I'll never go to Shores again. Bunch of asshats there.

My used vintage 1954 S&W was originally sold from a store in the South Loop. My late father in law left two pistols with an original receipt from a store on Milwaukee ave. I await the day I can triumphantly take them out of the attic without fear, without feeling like some criminal, where they have been hidden like Anne Frank from the Nazis. By the way 45 to 0, not one dissenting voice. Vote EVERYONE of the spinless 50cowards out of ofice.

If Franzense get the ability to sell guns in the city, then why not law abidding firm.

I remember when my Dad, (a Cop/RIP) bought his service revolver from Klien's Sporting Goods in Chicago. It was the same company that sold Lee Harvey Oswald his Italian Mannlichier-Carcano rifle by mail order. I bought my first Savage Arms rifle and shotgun at Sears on Irving Park Road.

If Daley see money in it he can be made to see the light.

And in the two times I've visited there in the past year, I saw a lot of folks carrying handguns openly and, no doubt, concealed. Gee, I wonder if there could be a connection? You know, like the blood bath that was supposed to occur in Florida and...

Daley & Co are dumber than a box of rocks. I resent having my life dictated by a midget who couldn't pass the bar exam without "special help" and has to study to pass a urine test!

Boutique gun store? Cocobolo grips? Chrome guns? Ivory or pearl handles? Why the hell do we need pimp guns?

I only want a stock pistol for duty use, in good working order, properly cleaned and lubricated.

I don't ever want to be in court trying to explain why I changed a stock weapon all around. Any changes will be done from the factory. If I have to shoot someone and I end up in court I don't want to appearance of the gun or non-factory modifications to be a subject for a viper attorney to latch onto.

I have been to Federal court on a lawsuit, try it and you will get to like the stock factory weapon also.

Sort of like having a boat named vigilante and being the subject of numerous torture suits.

I don't know how "boutique" it is, but you have to check out H&H Gun Range/Shooting Sports Outlet in Oklahoma City should you wander that far south on I-44.

http://www.hhgunrange.com/defaultmain.htm

The best part is that on Friday evenings from 5pm to 9pm it's "Class III Friday!"

http://www.hhgunrange.com/LE_sales/ClassIII.htm

They even have a cafe that does catering.

http://www.hhgunrange.com/4uCafe.htm

I reckon that whole thing would turn Little Dick Shortshanks in to a quivering pile of dogsh!t. Oh, wait! Nevermind.
