Anyone who has worked in 011 for over 5 years would remember when Chris was a paramedic on Ambulance 33. He was a true friend of the police and always put us first. He always had a smile and was always cracking jokes about the street follies. Rest well our brother, you will be sorely missed.

Sincerest sympathies.

My neighbor fell from a fire truck last year and suffered very serious injuries. Sometimes we forget how dangerous BOTH our jobs can be.

What a tragedy for his friends, family and our city.

I tell you what, every time i see a firefighter they always wave and say hi and a lot of times tell me they could never do what we do. But the truth is that i could never do what you guys do. Running into a firery building, climbing ladders holding only a hose to combat a raging fire. You guys are a very special group of people and i'm so sorry for your loss.

Though it's more foolish not to thank these men & women while they are alive. RIP to the CFD and to the Wheatley family. Too many good souls have been called home recently.

Thank you to all the officers, firefighters, veterans and first responders wherever you are. You are the bravest of the brave and allow the rest of us the luxury of feeling safe. May God watch over all of you, always.

I was at Stroger's last night and I would like to personnaly thank the Police Officers for all they did for us. I know Capt Gerry Carroll and Lt. Izzo's boyfriend - Joe - a fellow Fireman. The professionalism and compassion they and their officers showed us was welcomed in our time of need. I grew up with Gerry and know this was hard on him last night because he lost two good friends that he grew up with in Little Flower in recent years - Tom Welsh and Kevin Gray - both firemen, you could see this was hard on Gerry as he and the Lt directed their officers and worked with our Bosses. Again thank you to all the Police Officers for their help last night.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

Much is made of the rivalry that exists between CPD and CFD, what we also need to express is the mutual respect and admiration we have for each other, especially in light of recent events. I have heard many firefighters say they could never be cops and of course cops say they could never be firefighters. We throw jabs at each other from time to time and there is nothing wrong with a friendly rivalry. Tonight however I salute the brave men and women of The Chicago Fire Department. My prayers are with you.

The quality and caliber of Chicagos firefighters cannot be overstated.

When my mothers kitchen burned, the firemen were there in an instant, extinguished the blaze (saving the house in the process) and when she was escorted back in to examine the damage, there were two firefighters, carefully moving some of her precious belongings (photos, antique items, etc) out of the damaged area and into the unaffected dining room so they wouldn't be harmed. She started crying, not out of sadness, but out of gratitude for the compassion these men showed.

Sincerest condolences to this man, his family and the Chicago Firefighters.

For the bottom of my heart I would like to take all the men & women of the CPD that was there to help escort a true hero yesterday. It took me a day to come on here to say this seeing as after being there at the scene and hospital it will be a day that I will never forget. But it does help to know that we are all there for each other. Like the person said earlier that we may be rivals when we are on the sports field or hanging out taking jabs at who is the best. But we all know that we really don't want to do each others job but we know we can rely on one another. Maybe one day the public & the polititions will reallize what us and our families already know. That the men & women of the CFD & CPD are the best damn public servants in the world and are willing to pay the ULTIMATE sacrafice at a minutes notice.

Thank you truely for all the prayers & wishes. We know what each other goes thru when this stuff happens.
