Carnage Continues

The top three headlines in ChicagoBreakingNews.com:
Hmmmm. South Side, South Side, Englewood (we got bored saying "south side.")

Casualty figures were unavailable for the Lollapalooza but we expected to be in the hundreds.

Have you seen Tommy Skilling's forecast for this week?

Skilling's weather reports no longer give temperature or precipitation. His report for next weekend is " aggravated batteries continue along Chicago's southside pushing to the east. The National weather service has issued a severe homicide watch for the Englewood, chatham, gresham, south shore, douglas park and surroumding locations. Car jackings will be up as well. CPS future turning their life around seventh year highschool seniors will bear the brunt of this front pushing through. Store front rev's of MB make believe churches will have increased sightings as the weekend comes to an end with jibber jabber becoming unbearable."

One shooting after another. I could barely keep up with them. And the stories on "Breaking News", are just the ones the mainstream media reported. Many others, were not.

So far, there haven't been any major incidents at Lollapalooza. A theft here, a drunk there... that sort of thing.

Don't get smug about the south side, 13 , 25 and 17 had shootings also.
Thank goodness for and congrats to Mayor Daley, and Supt Weis for the fine managment team they've installed to fight this epidemic of gang violence.
Kudos on your successes and the decrease in crime as well.
I'm sure with your continued efforts, and the talents of such command level personnel as Commander Carothers, violent crime as we know it will soon be nonexistent in this city.
That's because most or all of the residents will be killed, incarcerated, barricaded or otherwise exiled!!!
Welcome to ChicagoGaryDetroit consolidated metro!
By the way, Carothers, when the command thing does'nt work out, (hint)I hear there's going to be a bunch of aldermanic openings due to forced resignations , indictments and imprisonments.
You know about imprisoned aldermen, don't you...Anthony?

They keep talking about crime and especially violent crime being down, and it is. Anyone around in 11 or 7 or 2, etc., 15 years ago or more know that things are much better now than before. But every city is down. Cities like Detroit and Gary and Newark. Would anyone want to live in these shitholes? Just because crime is down doesn' mean Jack. Per Capita we are far worse than New York and LA. And LA has big gang problems too. J-Fed and the Mayor have nothing to brag about until we can compare ourselves to those cities. That is the standard we should be holding ourselves to. J-Fed has been lucky too. Record winter snow a couple years ago. Record rians the last two years. Hell, has there beena weekend this summer when it hasn't rained. I hear Tommy Skilling is going to be part of the predictive analysis team.

The female that works in the preventative office a "certain" female officer told her no about sending out a Department wide email announcing T Shirts, bracelets and tickets are being sold at all 3 credit unions. So lets try and pass the word here so everyone can buy a shirt and get a ticket to the benefit. Take the load off the people that are actually putting this benefit together for him...... If anyone wants more info you can email me at cpdcoppurr@aol.com.... Maybe a small thread SCC?? What do you think?

WHY?

Anywhere I have lived, violent crime on the streets has always been something that the mayor and other pols were concerned about. The Mayor and council members etc supported the police and their efforts to combat it.

Being "tough on crime" has never been a losing political position.

So, what motivates Daley (and, to a lesser extent, certain alderpersons) to care so little about the body count on the streets of our city? Where is the advantage?

Just not giving a shit doesn't seem to be sufficient; it's generally a BAD political strategery, and Daley isn't politically naive.

I am pretty imaginative, and somewhat paranoid, but it has me baffled.

People here seem pretty well informed about the realities of life and politics in Chicago. So, what is the game?

From an old-timer:
Couldn't help but be sick when I saw Jesse Jackson calling for more police. Where did all of these illiterate, undisciplined, no future, angry beyond belief kids come from. No one, no one at all has done more to create this situation than he.
In the early 70's he led the charge to have standards for teachers lowered (yes that was LOWERED) so that more minority teachers could be hired.
Cronies from Operation Push came in as salaries went up and standards went down. Teaching is not easy and many gave up trying to make a difference and went to Regional Offices where they
became administrators who could spend their time shopping and comparing their designer label shoes and purses.
The Jackson children, of course, did not go to the Chicago Public Schools.

No permit required to carry CCW here!

http://www.yumasun.com/news/law-62822-permit-carry.html

Anyone 21 years or older who is legally qualified to own a firearm may carry one now without a Concealed to Carry permit.

Nothing new for those in Englewood, they have been doing this for years, but its nice to see a government with common-sense laws for the law-abiding.

Keep up the good work!

The south side needs to be obliterated and rebuilt. What else can you do at this point? The Police need not to jeopardize their personal possessions and families for this vast waste land. If you go out and try to clean it up, the lawyers for these shitbags will try to take everything you own. Until the rules are changed and Police Officers are protected from these bullshit lawsuits, nothing will change. Everyone down State and the Feds need to protect us like they do judges and lawyers. We should not be getting hung out to dry while criminals get worse/rich. I came on this job for the pension and feeling I could help people. I am watching the Daley family waste away my pension fund and the media destroy this honorable profession. I have to answer for complaints for just doing my job. IPRA needs to understand/learn the Law and Department procedure. Quit wasting Officers time and tarnishing our names/careers.

It looks like someone is trying to separate AGG BATTs into categories much like J-FLED has separated inside and outside homicides.

GRAZE WOUND seems to the "it word" lately, as if they aren't really quite the same as a FULL WOUND!
Maybe these are only counted as a HALF OF AN AGG BATT as far as reporting purposes are concerned?

Recent stories:
"8-year-old Suffers Graze Wound To His Head"

"...[Gentry] -- fired a gun at the officers, grazing one officer in the shoulder."

Media hasn't used the term " CPS Student" to describe the latest shooting/homicide victims in a while. Is it because the CPS Student is the 'alleged' offender? How much of that $60 million Artie Duncan ObamaDollars for the 'at- risk' students is left for Opening Day? Are those free backpacks made of Kevlar?
As of today, there are 10 less homicides from the same time a year ago. At this pace, there will be 300 less murders LESS than year. Blue lights aren't effective against criminals. They do sometimes scare them off, however. I wasn't there so I'm not speaking ill of these officers, but coppers need to locate, close with and destroy these animals, not try to scare them away with blue lights.

You are wrong about the Jackson children. They did go to public schools. Back around 1980, there was a public school on 31st street near Michael Reese Hospital. This school had a great campus and a good reputation. Jackson lived in South Shore and his kids were ineligible to attend this school. However, they were driven to this school every day by limo. I know because I worked in 21 those years and saw it.

Saw this movie and it really could have been about the CPD. Glory hounds, dogs and just workers doing all the work.

Check out the Union Rep in the movie. They captured FOP and its bold stance.

Retro is in! YEAH!

Is $12,900 a good price for an '02Harley Fatboy?

Its either that or a couple trips to Mexico. What do you think?

I saw this add in today's SouthTown Star. It may work out for you and you'll still have money to go to Mexico.

"Harley Davidson 02 Fatboy, excellent condition, only 2000 miles $10,900 OBO. 708-599-7322."

I don't know anything about this bike but maybe you can talk him down to 10K or 10.5K.. Hope it works out for you...

Yeah, you probably played by the toxic waste drums at "Thunder Lake" where the Brickyard is now. (grin) Used to be a clay pit.

There are only four words to describe the neighborhood today.

Republica Federal de Mexico.

Very fummy but then it fizzled.....

"Car jackings will be up as well. CPS future turning their life around seventh year highschool seniors will bear the brunt of this front pushing through. Store front rev's of MB make believe churches will have increased sightings as the weekend comes to an end with jibber jabber becoming unbearable."

Yeah, we need he-say-she-say and hibbety-jibbety, not that other stuff.

get the Honda or Yamaha 1300cc. cruiser, better than harley, better engineering, less money by several grand, and go on vacation with the money you'll save in cost and future repairs.. Unless you got Harley Dickitis [think your dick will be 6 inches longer if you own a Harley as opposed to different brand]

I thought we called it Thunder Mt.? Close to Elmwood Park and many a mystery would have been solved if they drained that 'lake' before they filled it in to build the Brickyard.
