Shooters Charged

  • Two teens were charged today in connection with an incident Wednesday in Calumet Park in which one of them fired at police officers who were chasing him, police said.

John Gentry, 17, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault of a police officer and unlawful use of a weapon, while Eric Johnson, 19, was charged with driving on a revoked license, aggravated fleeing from police and two counts of aggravated assault to a police officer, police said.

At about noon Wednesday, one of the teens allegedly shot at someone outside Pepe's Mexican Restaurant, 11227 S. State St. Tactical officers in the area heard the shots and went to the scene, where people there pointed them in the direction of a car that was speeding away from the scene, police said.

Police chased the car south and west; at 125th and Justine streets in Calumet Park the car stopped and one of the passengers fled on foot. As police pursued, that person -- whom police today identified as Gentry -- fired a gun at the officers, grazing one officer in the shoulder, police said. Police returned fire and hit Gentry.

Well done. Now let's see if the State's Attorney can get a conviction.

Forget a conviction...they'll plead them out, like usual.

Final charges will be reckless driving for the driver and jaywalking for the passenger.

Times article has J-Fled stating " when they heard gunfire, Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis said Friday. "They immediately responded in the direction of the gunfire to the area of 112th and State."

"Through immediate action by the community and responding officers," he said, "these armed offenders responsible for shooting a police officer and bringing fear to a community have been removed from the street."

Hmmmm, immediately responded in the direction of gunfire. Much different then "gotta run"

J-Fled said..."The officers heard gunfire in the area of 112th and State and immediately went to the scene" Unlike what I did when I heard gunfire and fled the other direction !!!!!!!

Sick and tired of the media always referring to them as "teens". One of them was 19... that's an adult!

Right on. When the media calls them teens we need to find out how many "baby daddys" they are and post it here. Interesting concept actually. How much do these little fucks cost taxpayers in spawn fees every month?
