- It's hardly unusual to hear small-business owners gripe about licensing requirements or complain that heavy-handed regulations are driving them into the red.
So when Multnomah County shut down an enterprise last week for operating without a license, you might just sigh and say, there they go again.
Except this entrepreneur was a 7-year-old named Julie Murphy. Her business was a lemonade stand at the Last Thursday monthly art fair in Northeast Portland. The government regulation she violated? Failing to get a $120 temporary restaurant license.
Shortshanks could probably close a large portion of his budget hole licensing children's lemonade stands, taxing the street corner bottled water sellers and ticketing the illegal food vendors across the city. Plus it would fit in perfectly with his "grinch" persona.

And who in the hell would stoop so low as to actually enforce this stupidity, let alone dream it up to begin with?
There are just waaay too many politician/clowns who are trying to justify their existence by coming up with these kind of inane rules and regs. This is exactly why Chicago (and many other govt. entities) need to reduce the number of aldermen who sit on the city council.
Come into this country illegally, use this country's resources without paying into them, bleed an already taxed system dry, but that FEDERAL LAW won't be enforced......a child sets up a lemonade stand without a license to put a smile on a few faces and quench some thirst.....that law gets enforced.
How about the illegals that roam the alleys and pickup scrap????? They break into garages too

Last year here in the big crapple a douche of a cpt gave a summons to a little girl selling girl scout cookies in front of her house also.
You cannot go into Pilson or Little Village and cite or arrest the illegal Mexican food vendors on the street. It is political , considered "ethnic" and not allowed. But, heaven forbid you would have a hot dog push cart on the street.

August 6, 2010 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- In another blow to Chicago's economy, two bond rating agencies have downgraded the city's debt, which mean the cost of borrowing money goes up for the city.

"Shanks" hires out as a "consultant" in how to fuck your constituents. He's making a ton of money because he's been so successfull at it for so many years other mayors want to emulate him and rake in the $$$$$$
Included in the samenews article was about a different government body that was using Google Earth to look at residents back yards looking for swiming pools. If they observe a swiming pool they would check their records to see if you pulled a permit for the swiming pool. If the resident has a pool without a permit on file,that person will be getting a fine through the mail. Keep giving up your rights to government!
I actually got a call once about a child operating an "illegal" lemonade stand. After I got my breath back from laughing so hard I immediately gave it a 19b. I don't know what was worse, the person who called 911 to report the offense or the fact that it actually got dispatched to me.
Look for Eric Holder’s Justice Department to file civil rights violation charges against the 7 year old. It appears her lemonade stand was setup within 500 feet of a union polling place.
I work as the p.d. in the burbs for over 22 years. three things I do to brighten my day, when I can. Stop the scrappers and write tickets. Bother the cabbies as much as I can, they think a straight away in the apartments are drag strips and lastly, always carry dollar bills to buy lemonade from the kids, not only does it brighten mine and the kids day, the parents most of the time call the station to talk to a boss and give thanks to the dept. for having a good guy for stopping.

Only Democommiecrat led enforcers would do something like this to little Kids, who will now probably hate the police, and who, really could blame them? They should start ticketing the illegal vendors. They put their carts right in front of grocery stores who pay for licensing and taxes. Why aren't they doing something about that?
Whoever wrote that ANOV should be tarred and feathered then canned from the position he is currently holding. How dare some coward abuse the system and go after a child for a lemonaide stand such a completely uncivilized unacceptable way to treat a child. You deserve to be treated as cold heartedly as you treated that child.

Lemonade stands are a cutthroat business, what with the spiking of each others pitchers with salt, releasing a bunch of fruit flys in the vicinity of your rival's stand, etc., etc...
Nasty, nasty business.
Ok here goes. My brother is an investigator for the city department that enforces the license rules. He said that he won't write a kid for a stand but hell yes they get complaints and have to stop chasing the bootleg cigarette people and got after this crap. he also said that they do hit the food cart vendors in the "hood" and write them ANOV's for selling food that might not be clean. He and a few others get those assignments cause they hispanic and speak Spanish. he also said they got some crazy people that work there and all types of other stuff. its crazy what they have to do sometimes.
