Brotherhood For the Fallen

The inaugural fundraiser is tonight:

18524 Brotherhood Fallen Poster Final

The organization sends representatives to officer funerals across the country. A truly worthy endeavor in our humble opinions.

Jeez...why so late in getting this out? I have plans for tonight I can't break, but if I had heard about this days ago I could have changed them.

Listening to 1400 last night on the radio was pretty entertaining. She was calling for cars every five minutes for street stops and bull shit disturbances on a busy friday night. She sounded like a ppo out there. i feel sorry for the 14th dist officers.

OT- Even the citizens of Chicago hate Jody Weis...Tribune 09/09/10"When one man drew raucous applause after calling for police Supt. Jody Weis' immediate resignation, the mayor asked the crowd to calm down. "Come on now, be serious," said Daley, with Weis sitting immediately to his right."

This Weis is getting publically dissed everywhere the mayor goes. The FOP membership must not derail or detract from the message that Jody Weis IS in fact the cause for POOR MORALE and he must honor his pledge to leave, resign , go away, push off, die, have a stroke, etc... WE MUST MARCH! We must show unity in this to put the last nail in his coffin.

He is a straight up Weasel and will try some fake act of contrition to appease the members of the FOP. Let us send a loud and clear message at HQ or where ever to kill his career like he did Cozzi's and many others.

50 Bucks is a bit steep, perhaps they could cut it in 1/2 & get a better turnout?

You can also check out the website for Brotherhood for the Fallen at

www.brotherhoodforthefallen.org

On their website, you'll find information about the organization, as well as stories and photos from members who have attended the funerals of fallen police officers all over the country.

This is a great cause, and if $50.00 is to much for you, please post your name in case something happens to you I will know only to give 1/2 for your benefit.

why wasn't this posted 2 weeks ago?

Even though I live in the 800 block of Wrightwood, this type of last minute notice is bad planing.

Zone 10 last night:
1199 I have a vehicle refusing to stop, it is a grey mini van, and did we get the plate of that grey mini van wanted in the police shooting from earlier in the night.
Dispatch: No boss we don’t
1199: ok he’s getting on the expressway, I am terminating.
1120: we are not chasing cars through construction zones, tell him to terminate.
1199: Thanks lieutenant, I got it.

1120 was silent (for once) for the rest of the tour. We couldn’t stop laughing all night, as Sgt. AZ was seen sulking around 011.

1120 needs some serious meds. Really! Wish I could order (and get) a copy of that transmission!
What a hoot!!!

If this is in fact true 1199 is useless. Lets let a possible vehicle matching the decription of a car wanted for shots at the police just go and 1120 the same. WTF! BOSSES HAVE OUR BACK! HOPE THE VAN DIDN"T SHOOT AT ANY OTHER P.O.'s. WTF OVER!

Jeeez.....what a great fundraiser. The entertainment, food and drink, prizes and personalities were great. Bagpipers, Irish Dancing, great food, perfect weather and Duncan Keith and Dave Bolland from the Blackhawks really made this such a great time.

Seeing so many old friends, remembering good times feeling like a FAMILY again. This job can be such a cold, heartless bitch sometimes but nights like this makes you glad you're a policemen again.

Pretty good turnout, parking was available nearby but not well publicized. We just parked a few blocks away and walked, it is a great cause and one that shouldn't even need to he out there. This shitty dept should do this automatically instead of people donating their own time and money.
Dave Bolland and Duncan Keith came and hung out for a couple hours, signed every autograph and took every picture, two pretty mature kids. They were getting pulled like rag dolls and they never batted an eye, just kept going. They are both huge fans of the CPD and all police, thanks Jason for bringing them.
Some nice checks were given, the micheal Gordon foundation gave $1000, FOP gave $2500, TRU used their golf outing as a fund raiser and gave $2000.
This is truly a great organization, and they did a nice job on their 1st fund raiser. Check out their website and get involved, brotherhood of the fallen.org.

So was brotherhood of the fallen ever put out there for membership drive? This was an idea had by someone at 35th street for years and they could never get approval.
Is this open for membership? If so, I must have missed the memo. Is it too late to join?

Why do we always hear about things like this last minute. I'm sure that alot of P.O.'s would have liked to have attended such a worthy cause. C'mon FOP i'm sure if you tried you could do a better job! Can't change plans but will definately send a check.

This is not true it was not 1199 chasing it was a MSF Sgt, and the vehicle was not wanted for firing at a Police Officer. The rest is accurate 1120 terminated the chase of the other Sgt, but he already terminated his own chase.

Greta turnout, but a shitty location with no parking. The organizers did a great job though, it was nice to meet and laud the Arkansas Game Warden who was involved in a deadly shootout, captured on video, he did an awesome job!

Kudos to Duncan Keith and Dave Bolland for showing up and hanging out!

Dude, stop being such a cheap bastard! These guys travel to funerals of officers killed in the line of duty...ON THEIR OWN TIME & DIME! Our wonderful department won't even allow them to be carried Code (?) on the A&A's.

$50 is a night at the movies or a few rounds at the bar. Is that too much to ask? Late notice or not, I'm just sorry I wasn't able to make it becaus it sure sounds like the fundraiser was a hell of a lot more fun than the family event I had to attend last night.
