Hubie to Resign
Chicago Public Schools CEO Ron Huberman will resign his $230,000-a-year-job effective Nov. 29 in a departure hastened by Mayor Daley, City Hall sources said Wednesday.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported last month that Huberman told Daley he has no intention of serving another mayor and intends to leave his job long before the mayor leaves office in mid-May.
He's pretty much left every agency he's come into contact with in tatters, developing nothing but additional highly paid political spots and charting new heights of smoke-and-mirrors with fancy graphs and no substantive reform. The day he leaves town will be a happy day indeed for anyone working in government.

It would be high camp -- lots of fun costumes and makeup -- if he'd revert to the ancient Egyptian practice of poisoning himself when his beloved Pharoah dies, and being entombed in the royal Pyramid, in order to continue serving his revered master in the Afterlife -- rowing sun-boats across the sky and so forth.

As my old sainted mother used to say, " We'll see". The real test of Hubie's talents will be where he lands after public service and how well he does. Most of the stars of the police department fail in private industry. The ones that succeed start a company and prosper on government contracts or end up with another job in another government agency. The only person that I can recall who really did well was Rochford who worked for Balley and did very well. It will be interesting to see where Hubie works and how he does. If he succeeds, he will put all of the naysayers to rest.
