Beating Video
- Derrion Albert never saw the vicious chop to the head from a piece of a railroad tie that sent him sprawling to the street. A moment earlier, he was throwing punches at an unseen combatant, one of dozens of teens involved in the melee that ultimately cost him his life.
But as Albert struggled groggily to his feet, a 14-year-old boy cocked his right arm back and launched a sweeping right hook to the jaw of the Fenger High School student. Albert toppled forward, apparently unconscious, unable to even reach forward with his hands to break his fall.
"Damn," a male voice could be heard saying on the video that captured the moment. "Put that (expletive) to sleep.
The media rolls out the Abbate tape every single time there's a whiff of CPD scandal. But a kid with extensive gang ties going to an out-of-control school....
Ah, never mind. Remember, the police are the problem. And everyone reading knows exactly why the media wouldn't dare run video again.

Actually, I saw this video Tuesday morning on Fox News, with parts of it intentionally blurred, for obvious reasons.
Too busy showing Taser-use video on TV tonight -- some over-50 M-2 out in a suburb crawling around on the sidewalk, allegedly hit five times.
OT, but something that had to be shared...on the way home tonight (I won't name the district) I witnessed a very dangerous and distrubring traffic stop.
While one P.O. was talking to the driver, his partner was standing to the left rear of the vehicle (like we were taught). What's the problem? Well, while she was yakking on the phone, yes was looking everywhere but at the car & occupants! WTF!!!
People, we just buried 3 of our own last week (including Peters), 8 total for the year and this is how you're conducting a traffic stop?
Pull you heads out of your asses & pay attention before you get someone killed!!! You may not want to go home at the end of the watch, but I do!

I could sit here and write an entire dissertation on the entire subject. We as Police Officers entered into a thankless career. One which pits us against evil doers and the beliefs of our own families, who have no basis for their ideas....We do work that no one will ever understand, we risk our lives irregardless of the situation...we enter the face of danger no matter the cost..... WE ARE CHICAGO POLICE OFFICERS!!!!!!!!!!!

And good ole Wgn last night had an extensive piece on a robbery pattern in Gage Park area of home remodelers. One thing missing though. No description of the offender(s).

Rumor is that the D Unit is going to be disbanded. Per our statistics, crime is at an all time low. All detectives will be moved to MSF and per special order seniority will be determined by time in unit. The city still needs one bagger arrests but will require personnel that can write better paper. All detectives will report to 1300 W Jackson gymnasium 13 DEC 10 0900 hrs for "standing in the hallway ten deep (just like a traffic stop) with high eyebrows and blank stare" training.
I can't waite till they find them all guilty and give them probation because they are all suffering from depression. "Yo honors I didn't meants to killz him, we were just playing"
A freind works for ABC and said that POS Chuck Goudie was upset he couldn't air the 023 IOD scandal due to officer's deaths last week.
They should show that video over and over. People would start to realize that some live like animals.

Maybe then real reform would begin.

Why is it that the media makes no mention the allocation of much needed manpower on the street being tied up for school dismissals. Yes it is not a long period of time but is this something that the Chicago Police Department should be doing? Many of these kids have no respect for authority, for themselves and no idea how to conduct themselves in a civilized manner publicly but outrageously demand that you "gives me mah respects." I shake my head in sadness at the future of this country. Oh by the way, how many coppers do they have at the Catholic high schools monitoring their dismissals? Crickets again I guess, you media dogs.....

Thats bullshit,the other night obseved a copper on 63rd street near cicero with a traffic stop 1 man unit believe he was from the airport,stop a shitbird gangbanger approach the car with his gun at his side,ready I stopped and backed him up,people be careful be ready talking on your phone girl hang up your stupid and will get your partner or yourself killed!

Big fan of SCC and I agree with your frustration, but it is hard for me to get my head around comparing a 12 year police officer's drunken felonious violent actions to behavior that arises from an out of control, messed up, low income, drug infested, gang saturated situation that many of Chicago's youths… Ah, you get what I mean.
It's like, yes we expect more of our politicians, our school systems and teachers (oddly the parents are often left out of this equation) and are frequently disappointed with the results, but when a police officer turns on the people they are trained to protect, rightly or wrongly this appears to be the one line that people feel can never be crossed.
Just guessing, but apart from of the long history of police in the United States, over time many citizens have come to depend on and trust the decisions and actions of police officers and when the belief is gone, it's as if the last line of sanity, the last line of control that people have in their lives has gone.

I agree, start running these clips as they were. They have no problem running video when a drunken cop misses punches or an out-of-control offender who doesn't respond to verbal commands gets tazed. Let 'em show the public what animals roam the streets and what they do to their prey.
And start giving the full description of offenders. I laugh when they purposely leave the race out, it shows such stupidity of the media...why bother to even report it? You are not doing the general public and perhaps the next victim any favors. dumb.
At this point who cares. Bail out of this city as fast as you can. I see these old timers in my district some near 60 jumping through hopes like trained poodles to get time due. No thanks.

I will take "ten deep" on one my traffic stops any day over just 1 partner. Having 8 more police officers with me sounds safer.

I was at juvie court today and saw maybe 2 cameras out front. Apparently brutal killing by ghetto savage youth is not a real issue
That video was on the Trib website for a couple of weeks---I think everyone in the world saw it. It is very hard to view. Those "kids" are animals. I cannot imagine realizing that I had raised something like "that." My dogs (actual animals) do not behave like that in or out of the house.

Maybe society should begin to recogn ize the sacrifices police officers make,and stop the vendetta against them.
Finally a small portion of it was shown on NBC, ABC and WGN.
After the verdict of course...wouldn't want to taint the jury pool by showing it ad-naseum before a trial.....A-hem
