I am sitting here, numb, teary eyed and most of all, in ABSOLUTE AWE of this incredibly strong woman speaking of her father at such a sad time in her life. God Bless her and her brothers and mother.

I will continue to pray for the Flisk family. A daughter and sons were deprived of their father. Stay strong and you will forever be in our prayers.

All of heaven stood and saluted, not only the one-in-a-million Flisk, but the proud, brave daughter that sprang from the mans loins. What a woman!

I sit here and cry for these children. When someone you love is taken from you it is so devastating, that I wish no one to ever go through this. I pray for these children to have PEACE in their hearts. It is hard to do this, but not impossible. Their DAD would not want them to weep, and be sad.
I still myself have not mastered the HATE I carry for someone who took my MOTHER. I know SHE would not want this of me. I pray for all of us who have been HURT so bad by someone else's act, can go on in PEACE.
God plz protect the innocent ones from the EVIL of others. Plz protect us all from anyones harmful actions.
IN JESUS' name. AMEN

What else can you say but, HEART BREAKING! What a beautiful family and eulogy.
Too bad the SAVAGE that murdered their father wasn't raised like these kids. This travesty would have never happened. May you rot in Hell for eternity you POS!

My heart breaks for Officer Flisk's family. What a beautiful tribute by his daughter. I know there couldn't have been a dry eye in the church. Just watching it here at home, the tears are still flowing for the pain the family will endure for the rest of their lives.

May God give them comfort.

R.I.P. Officer Flisk :(

A mother's point; a voice of safety from the grave?

• Translation: Sneed is told Police Superintendent Jody Weis has taken a major step to ensure the safety of evidence technicians like police Officer Michael Flisk, who was shot dead while recovering evidence from the scene of a burglary Friday.

Police Officer Michael Flisk was shot dead while recovering evidence from the scene of a burglary Friday.

• To wit: Weis just issued a directive to enact a policy giving evidence technicians the ability to request extra police vehicle protection if they feel their safety is at risk at a crime scene.

• The Flisk factor: Flisk's mother, Kathryn, told Weis her son had stated several times in the past "no one watched their backs while processing evidence at a crime scene," a source said.

• Background: "It was something that had worried officer Flisk's mother, and she mentioned it to Weis, who ordered a background check -- and was subsequently told such a police procedure had been practiced at least up until the late 1970s -- and it was unclear why it stopped," said a source.

R.I.P. Mike and God Bless the Flisk family!

The Flisk Family and the entire contingent of Police and Fire did our city proud. The eulogy delivered by "Peg" Flisk was a heart breaking, tear jerking performance. Kudos to the Flisk Family for keeping the faith in the most trying of times. I am proud to know them and will forever keep them on my heart and my prayers.

All ET's should just start asking for a beat car when going to a crime scene--It should also be a priority 1A for the dispatchers---I will gladly go sit beside my brother and watch him work-- ET's when you know what beat is responding PDT us and we will bring the coffee!!

OT - While standing outside of the church, prior to the arrival of the hearse, the family was huddled together in the cold. I am not sure how many witnessed this but Mike's daughter Peg was really shivering and it seemed like forever before the hearse arrived. Her mom and brothers were doing their best to keep her warm. When out of the blue an exempt broke rank, with many others watching her freeze, and went up to Peg. He took off his long reefer coat and wrapped it around her. It was a very moving moment as she really started to cry. The exempt retuned to his place and remained in the cold with not much to keep himself warm, and Peg's mom & siblings comforted her. So to that exempt I say hats off to you. You sir are truly a class act!!!

In answer to Supt weiss's directive, When an officer feels his/her life is threatened???? Sir, if ever any of us felt our lives were threatened we certainly have the assistance of not only our brothers and sisters in blue but many, many citizens who have backed us up and come to our aid when you could not or would not. A police officer or firefighter about to die in the line of duty probably doesn't feel "threatened". Unfortunately, I am unable to question the aforementioned as they are all dead. The answer lies in more manpower, or more womanpower, as I like to call it. Preventative measures. My goodness, can someone in charge please send this man back to whence he came and give us a real boss with just a spoonful of common sense. That is my prayer for today. thanks for letting me rant and God bless the beautiful courageous daughter of Mike who stood when it counted. Your father is still taking the high fives in heaven my girl.

I've been reading this blog for years and have often thought of commenting, but I never got up the nerve. This time I just can't resist, but still can't find the words. What an amazing family this man has raised. As I watched the Eulogy, even though my tears were streaming, I wished it would never end. Officer Flisk was the same age as me and I'm horrified by the very thought of losing my husband. To think that his wife had to lose a man who clearly adored her and their children breaks my heart. I pray for the healing of his family, friends, coworkers, and me.

What a poised young lady to be able to speak so eloquently in such a sad circumstance. Officer Flisk will be remembered by what he left behind.

I have a hard time watching that with a dry eye.

R.I.P Officer Flisk.

How brave and strong she is. I watched in awe, and cried softly. She is a tribute to her father and mother as well as her brothers. Lest we should never forget our fallen officers and the families and friends they left behind.

Who gives him a cell phone when they're having their attorney-lawyer time?
A lawyer for the CTA.

Are you trying to make me vomit? I'm sick of Sneed and her bullshit. If Weis had come up through the ranks, he'd know what the fucking rules were instead of having to have Masters look them up for him.

I have 12 years on and thought I had become numb and unemotional to the loss of a fellow officer, since I've been to so many wakes and funerals in my short time on. I never knew Officer Flisk, but the other day on my way home from work,I found myself crying the whole way home as I thought about him and his family. RIP Officer Flisk-you will NEVER be forgotten.

Regarding Sneeds column:

WTF Jfled?! An ET may request a backup whenever the ET feels that his/her safety may be at risk?

Isn't that directive already in place every fricking day for every officer in the world?! No matter what his/her assignment is!

Here's a tip Jfled: As CPD officer, the minute we took that oath our safety is at risk, you bumbling idiot.

What is the policy on that? Although considering the level of competence of the employees of the CTA, it might be the best thing that could have happened.

I'm retired now. I feel almost ashamed and pathetic to even be posting for Gods sake. You are ALL in danger. Seriously undermanned, not only the police department but the CFD and every single department in the city. What a sad, disgraceful state of affairs I pray for each and everyone of you every day. When old gang members are being released from prisons and expressing their fears for YOU, that is just more freaking scarey than I can even put into words. God help us all.

And to think that this piece of Shit that killed him will receive a standing ovation when he walks into prison for killing 2 cops. I would pay money to see him die. I'm sure happy that Michael Flisk shared a great relationship with his kids, they will never forget him and they can have stories to tell for years and years, to their kids and grandkids. We as a department should salute ourselves because when push comes to shove we are always there to lend a helping hand to our brothers and sisters. I'm not mad a GOD for taking him I'm just upset at GOD for not choosing this POS Herring first.
