More Petition Fraud

  • Another notary public said Thursday his name was forged on mayoral nominating petitions -- this time involving nearly 2,000 petition sheets submitted by three mayoral candidates: Carol Moseley Braun, James Meeks and Patricia Van Pelt-Watkins.

Braun and Watkins are the latest candidates to be stung by the forgery problem. The Chicago Sun-Times earlier this week found suspect notary signatures on petitions submitted by Meeks and Rick Halpin, another mayoral hopeful.

Strangely enough, this hasn't been an issue in past elections for any offices throughout Cook County and Illinois. And we'd bet money that all the previous nominating petitions for past elections have conveniently been destroyed following the elections. How many signatures for aldercreature, county board member, state rep, senator or governor do you figure have been gathered illegally over the years?

We're going to go out on a limb and guess millions.

And just an observation, but this rash of forgeries appear to be hitting Rahm's opponents pretty hard.

This rash of forgeries probably would have been ignored or swept under the rug if it wasn't for Rahm. He already has power and the media is, of course, supporting him. After all, he's Daley's guy.

Let the games begin.

Hey...ITS THE CHICAGO WAY (wink wink) and thats all you need to know about that... no one will go to jail, no one will be indicted, no one will suffer any long term political fallout...nope. ITS THE CHICAGO WAY and the retard residents will let this slide, too. This place sucks! All the corruption and how does it get dealt with? A wink, a smile, a elbow nudge and a quip (HEY...ITS THE CHICAGO WAY!) I wish this City would fall into Lake Michigan!

Most canidates use their own notories, and have them stampled as they are dropped off, this way the notary can ask questions to the person who obtained the signatures.

Can you say set-up? Emanuel is the dirtiest player around. He went into this already having the pieces set in place. He had his people engineer the use of the idiots who would then forge and fraud the OTHER candidates petitions. It was all set into motion before he publicly announced his "Dream" of being the mayor of Chicago. I just wonder what he had specifically on Daley to make him not run again.

Not sure that anyone is following the nations mortgage foreclosure fraud problem however it's the same game with fraudulent signing of doc's.

Google the term "robo signers"

A mockery of the laws.

Things that are in writing just don't seem to matter any more. Mortgages, laws on immigration, laws on predatory lending, election petitions, the lists go on...

Rahm is in. No way the Machine is going to lose this. All of those candidates are there to split the vote to make sure Rahm gets it.

This election is too important to let the people decide it.

Correct, most candidates use their own notary and hoever collects the petitions is supposed to check them for forged signatures, fictional character names, Steven Colbert.

Having petitions challenged is nothing new, they do it EVERY election, a signature only has to be unreadable or printed instead of written in cursive,an it will not count as part of the total, which may get that candidate kicked off the ballot.

This happens EVERY election, it is not a conspiracy.

Does anyone remember when Doc Walls was kicked off the ballot because his petitions were challenged and he did not have enough signatures?

Shortshanks is really steamed over this. His greasy haired head swaying away screaming that this a violation of federal and state laws. Man, he was incensed! His time in office is coming to an end but its obvious to all that he will not let up his vigilant and ethical stance against crime.
