Higgins Cartoon

It certainly feels like our only advocates in the media are Kass and Higgins. Jack pens another editorial cartoon that tugs at the heart:

RIP Officers.

Great cartoon by Higgins. Still wondering what's going on with the Blake murder. NO arrests, NO reward being offered fo info leading to an arrest. Can anyone at A/1 shed any light on the status of that investigation?

Last night at the 024 holiday party there was a raffle benefitting the Flisk family. Half was to go to the winner and half to the Flisks. The PO who won gave his share back to the Flisks. Real gentleman. That's what this job is all about.

someone else in Chicago media wrote a pro-police column:

"Police departments of all sizes, in all states and at all levels of government are being squeezed below the level of safe operation. The result is that the cops are outmanned.

Officer Flisk, a crime scene evidence technician, was working alone last Friday when somebody ambushed him and ended his life.

He shouldn’t have been working alone and he shouldn’t have died without a partner to help defend him against whoever came at him.

Chicago needs more police officers. A lot more.

I won't forgive Higgins for his SOS cartoon. . .he jumped on the bandwagon like the fed's and should be remembered for it. There are way too many of our men and women in blue being held in limbo while the fed's try and save face. That situation wasn't nearly as pervasive as they would have us believe and now hard working men and women are suffering because of their incompetence and rabid willingness to believe KH's bullshit.

A wonderful tribute to our fallen comrades by Jack Higgins.

I just got off the phone with Bill COZZI. He knows all the details and updated status of our murdered officers and the heartbreaking eulogy by Mike Flisk's daughter Peggy at the requiem Mass. Peg is a student at my alma mater, Marquette University, Milwaukee. What a special lady and a wonderful family. For whatever reasons, he is also aware that neither the current mayor nor the CPD Supt. participated in Mike's eulogy.

Understandably, Bill is depressed (who wouldn't be?) but don't underestimate his strength to endure this ordeal.

As you know, Bill's mailing address is in the upper right hand corner of both SCC and Shaved. One supporter told me he mailed Bill a Thanksgiving card with a device which plays a song. It was returned marked "REFUSED". Another asked about sending cash, toiletries, postage stamps, etc. Don't. Bill must purchase all items from the prison commissary.

Bill's petition for certiorari to the Supreme Court won't be ruled upon until next year. He is aware that the chances of SCOTUS granting cert are slim and none.

Aside from your prayers, the best thing you can do for Bill is to mail him letters and standard Christmas cards:

William COZZI, #40222-424
FCI Oakdale
P.O. Box 5000
Oakdale, LA 71463

Bill wishes all of you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2011.

I just got done watching the news at noon. I watched the top story that lasted 11 minutes about what a hero, great guy Ron Santo was. And a tribute about Ron later in the newscast. Million stories about what a great guy he was and how many lives he affected. Right after that was less than a minute about Peters wake/funeral with a mention of Officer Flisk. I dont know if its me getting older, crankier, but Im sure theres more than a million stories how Officer Flisk, and other of my departed brothers affected people's lives, we will never hear about.
Im sorry Ron died, but he played baseball, PLAYED baseball and lived til 70yrs, granted still young, but Flisk was 46 and was murdered serving and protecting.
I guess I'm still hurting inside about losing another brother. Be safe out there.
Thanks for letting me vent.
R.I.P brothers, never forget.
