Ambush Shooting?
- Two men were charged this afternoon in connection with a shootout with police early Thursday in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the South Side.
The two men were caught following a short foot chase when the car they were in crashed after one of them fired at a police squad car near 47th Street on Western Avenue about 4 a.m. Thursday and police returned fire. - The officers, who were in a police squad car, were headed north on Western Avenue just after 4 a.m. Thursday when a tan Mercury pulled up next to them near 47th Street, said Police News Affairs [...]. The officers began chasing their attacker's vehicle north, and during the pursuit the shooter threw the gun he had been using out of the Mercury...
So they drove up on the unmarked and just opened fire? An initiation ritual? A hit? This is worrisome on a number of levels and the all-calls about "zero tolerance" missions don't provide much in the way of actual info.

There was. In fact two counts of attemted murder.

I get weary of this zero tolerance bullsh*t. It's annoying. To begin with, it's a fascist concept; it's what Hitler and Stalin practiced. It allows for no exceptions or compassion of any kind. All is black and white-no gradations. But even more important, it doesn't solve anything. The use of such a slogan simply allows whichever company, school, or municipality is using it to claim they're doing something about a problem when, in fact, nothing is being done at all and the problem is being ignored. Attempt murder charges approved for the shooter. Driver of the car got agg fleeing. Female was released.
I love this zero tolerance crap. Like we have what, some degree of tolerance for dope slinging gang banging murderers at other times?
And what do we do when this zero tolerance crap edict comes down? Do we then really give them the stink eye and look sternly at them and wag our finger and say, "Hey, knock it off you guys! We really men it!"

I appreciate your concern and back your thinking 100%. But when your going to talk about the officers that were killed, do your research and have some respect. They were not 'Eating lunch, looking at their PC's'. They were flat out executed, zero time to react. DO NOT speak about a situation like that ever again unless you know what your talking about.
