Someone please explain to me how we "can't afford" the City of Chicago's annual Fourth (third) of July fireworks, but there can be 'early St. Patrick's Day' FIREWORKS last night?

This dictator can't leave soon enough.

OT:

That enormous extent of the catastrophe in Japan has yet to be revealed to the world. This will likely dwarf any previous natural disaster. Entire towns and villages have been erased. One town of 10,000 has 2/3rd of it's residents unaccounted for. Some were wiped off the map.

Below is a link to some dramatic satellite photos of before and after the quake and tsunami in several locations. There is a blue slider in the center, move it left and right to see the whole images to get an idea of the devastation.

That not much in the way of news is coming out of Japan is a bad sign, that signals that the devastation is much worse than originally thought.

Remember Hurricane Andrew in South Florida, no news came out of South Florida for days and then the world became witness to the total devastation as news filtered out.

This in Japan is much worse.

NOW the Sun-Times " discovers " that Shortshanks used $500 million from the T.I.F. as a private slush fund to give contracts to connected realtors and other assorted cronies?
Well very well done S-T, EXCEPT your about 20 years to late!
If you wanna puke, read the article, it explains how this fuckery has been going on since Washington was mayor.
And yet OUR taxes keep getting raised.

well, how many shootings, stabbings and mass arrests were there for the fireworks last night.... Let me answer that for you since I was working... ZERO. The excuse of not enough money is an excuse to hide the fact that the fireworks show was a hotbed for violence. The city would be stupid to say that its too violent to hold the fireworks because then tourists would be terrified to come to the city for the weekend. (kind of like the movie jaws, dont tell people it was a shark because we will get no tourism.. it was just a boating accident...all is well amity island)... so trust me, its not the money..its just hiding the fact that crime is out of control when the 3rd fireworks show is here. hmmm, who were the majority of people at the firework last night and who is there on the third.. yep, there is the answer. money is just the excuse

"Does that mean I won't have to pay $100/75 every year to carry under IROCC?

Old retired guy"

Two different issues. Your IROCC gets you a few more privleges than a carry permit gets. But you won't have to qualify every year, only on renewal. once every 5 years.

"You are so not a "NRA guy".Obvious anti trying to justify there position.DLs are $30 and IDs are $20,why the excessive fee??How can you tax a right??"

Yea I am. I'm the guy writing the bill. the ISP have $45 in background check costs so the bill has to be revenue neutral. Most guys think $20 a year isn't bad.

While other state may be trying consitutional carry, it won't come here for a while.

You may now remove your foot from your mouth.
