Addressing Some Comments

Unfortunately, an incident like this one in 023 brings out a lot of vitriol, overwrought verbiage and out-and-out atrocious commentary. We've had to take a heavy hand to some of the stuff people have been trying to publish.

The obviously sexist and demeaning commentary has been removed. The "blame the victim" comments aren't going through. No one has been silly enough to attempt to name the uncharged individuals (we're sure you can find out if you ask around the north side), and those trolls asking for names haven't been published. The people typing IN ALL CAPS (with the one grandfathered individual excepted) along with the banned words still result in the comment being flushed. Same for our regular trolls. And any comment that starts with, "All of you assholes...." or something similar gets deleted almost every single time without us even reading the rest of the comment.

We're just going to address a few of the more egregious examples of inanity:
  • Stop accusing us of finding anyone "guilty." The blog isn't a judge or jury. We're barely a news aggregator for pete's sake. We've linked to media reports of the event and been very circumspect in our commentary;
  • Stop blaming the FOP's Mike Shields for not getting in front of this story. He hasn't even been sworn in yet, has he? What the hell is he supposed to do? There might be plenty of opportunity to criticize Shields in the future - but not over this story;
  • Stop trying to put multiple posts in assorted threads and then blaming us for the spam filters capturing your attempts. This "sock puppetry" takes too much effort on your part and no effort on the spam filter's part.
Closed post for now.
