23rd dist tact car asks for a transport for one into the station from shitty area of uptown. A unit comes up and says they're a block away and they'll take it. They show up, it's a somewhat hostile scene, put dude in the back of the car and get ready to pull away. 2390 comes on the air and orders them not to leave the scene and orders the wagon to go over there to "do their job" and take the transport. The wagon says they're on the other side of the district and it'll take a while and 2390 still tells them it's their transport. coppers are sitting there waiting and things start going south. Tact guy goes over the air saying it's getting bad over here and people are coming out on them and they need to get out of the area and can't wait for the wagon. Even after hearing this, 2390 orders them again over the air to stay on scene and wait for the wagon and tells the wagon to blue light it. wagon gets there and they remove dude from a perfectly good back seat and put him into the wagon in front of all his boys. Then they all drive into the station. And i already asked, no, all they needed was a cage car, dude was not acting a fool in the car.
My input: Why in the fuck would this guy not just let the beat guys take the guy in. Instead he's gonna put all those guys in danger and have them wait at a hostile scene to have the wagon do a job that the beat car was already there doing. That's how coppers get hurt. The lieut was probably just trying to prove a point and make the wagon guys do their job. If guys want to work the wagon and their biggest responsibility is doing transports then make them do them. We all know Officer "other side of the District". I don't know how many sides of the district 023 has but anytime they are needed these guys are always on one of the "other sides". Here's a solution. Why didn't they transport the prisoner about a block away and wait for the wagon there? If it's a hostile scene MOVE!!!! Wait a block away for the wagon, make the transfer there and all is well. Officers are out of the hostile scene, wagon is forced to do their job, and bad guy goes to jail. Problem solved.
How to solve the school problem and balance the budget.

2390 did the right thing. The situation was not out of control. There arent many beat cars in 023 especially in the 10 sector. That car that wanted that transport are dogs who wanted to ride that job into lunch then done for the night. 2311 3d watch is also known for this and trust me things are going to change.

How and why did Penny get transfered to 016 they already have 2 Captains assigned and there are some Districts don't have any. I guess it's nice to be assigned to a District you live in, then you can work from home. I'm sure someone in Patrol (brown) will say it's a mistake she was supposed to go to another District. But the transfer order is out and she is assigned to 016, just glad she's no longer an inspector and is burning free gas and driving a city car. I feel sorry for you Officers in 016 she may have a few good days (midnights) but if she's off her meds look out! I have lost all respect for the new supt, he does what the mayor and the revs tell him to. Why someone who has at least 3 active CR's against them is still being taken care of is beyound belief. We have not heard the last of the great penny.
As a boss of much more stature than 2390 i can assure you that he is in the wrong. Once you have an aresstee secure in the back of a car, get out of there. Don't ever take him out and put him in another car in front of his people, unless of course he is kicking the windows out and a wagon is essential. If this ever happens again get an immediate CR on him. That is officer safety.

This morning on channel 11 Mary Ann Ahern and assorted different news media types were discussing the Police sick day policy. Doesn't the Fire Dept get the same sick day policy? Why are the Police always getting ripped apart and not the Fire? Give it a break. Pick on one, pick on both. Make the Police sound like greedy bast..ds & Fire heroes.
Not once did anyone say they checked the records and found very little abuse of this medical policy. It is very easy to get hurt on this job, but no one seems to care. They also said the union agreed that this policy is no good.

Sounds to me like that wagon needs to step up to the plate and start responding to the direction of calls when they hear them.
Don't you just love it when certain supervisors show up and screw up an already good plan. We spend most of our watch making sure we don't stay on any job too long to avoid the "help" that staying in one place too long brings.

Whereas the rough, tough beat guys wanted to surrender the scene to some big mouths. How many hundreds were in the crowd? How many bricks and bottles were thrown? How many IOD's? I work in 020 and live in 016, when I heard that she was coming I 020, I thought "The home front is more important, take one for the team." This is just a lose/lose scenario for the taxpayers.

No point in waiting around 10/15 minutes and give people the opportunity to started acting the fool. Why wait for it's to evolve into something when you have a transport car on scene...and willing to transport? You have a guy under arrest and in a car. No point in playing musical chairs with an arrestee and putting him in two different cars in an unsecure environment. So why is it, that accountability, responsibility and criminality are not punished the same across the board on the Chicago Police Department? Why is it, that accountability, responsibility and criminality are not punished in the city council, the Mayor's office and cabinet, the Crook County board, the Illinois legislature and governor’s office, the senate and house of representatives and the office of the President. These people believe that the rules are for everyone else, not them. What is the difference between them and the drug dealing, gangbanging assholes we put into the prison system everyday who think that the laws were made for everyone else except them? Not a single thing except, the gangbanging assholes get caught more often, much more often. Rest assured though, you will fry, and there's no escaping justice where your kind will eventually end up. It's up to you how long you'll be deep fried, can you say deep fried for eternity and to think they used to boil people in oil. Re: 2390, Okay so he made a terrible command decision, shame on him, but if I'm the car on scene, I make my own command decision of pulling a block or two away to wait for the wagon and the incompetent Commander to arrive on scene. I am a Sgt, and on this job for over 30 yrs, I think 2390 was attempting to prove a point to the wagon crew but I would not have put my officers in jeopardy, I would have had the wagon crew meet me in 23, where i would have opened a giant can of woop ass on them and dumped thier asses off the wagon, mess with their start time and just overall make them my bitches.
Sounds to me like that wagon needs to step up to the plate and start responding to the direction of calls when they hear them.

2390 was a stand up sgt who took care of his people. If you read the report in the paper when at IAD he was trying to help officers not hurt them by getting a dodgy complainant to tell the real truth and not her made up version of events. He is a Valor and a Lambert Tree recipient for killing two assholes. With the events happening in 023 especially on the vaunted 3rd watch you guys have some growing up to do. What's the problem that you can't handle Uptown all of a sudden.

Stop and think about what you are saying. Three mutts with ghetto drama (whatever that is) are running you off the street. When you leave peace is supposed to be restored. When you run away you make it harder for the next guy. I guess you ain't much of the police either.
I wasn't on the scene in 23, but if the Lt. told the cars to wait for the wagon and everything was fine, then wait. Just more down time and if that's fine with the bosses, who are we to argue?
However, if there was a crowd and the street people were getting hostile, then fuck the Lt., make a decision and get the fuck out of there unless you want to start something and some P.O. gets hurt over nothing.
And if this Lt. is a moron and he gets c.r. numbers for disobeying his orders, if you can't handle those kind of beefs 8 days a week then you don't belong on the job.

2390 did the right thing. The situation was not out of control. There arent many beat cars in 023 especially in the 10 sector. That car that wanted that transport are dogs who wanted to ride that job into lunch then done for the night. 2311 3d watch is also known for this and trust me things are going to change.

Anyone know what happened in the 2200 block of Lincoln Saturday night? There must have been 15 cars there. One guy arrested and a unconscious girl taken away by ambulance.
The REAL answer to all the school problems...HOME SCHOOLING! Just drop off books, free luches and breakfast, and after 8 years and 4 years drop off a blank diploma for each little Einstein that is still alive. Look at all the money and problems this would save. As for the teachers give them all an early pension with a 10% cost of living raise every year. They deserve it!
I don't blame Carothers for not appears at those CompStat meetings. If any other cmdr had the clout to not appear and feel no repercussions for their absence, others would skip it too! bring the prisoner into 023 and ask 2390 to meet you in the lot--- a simple conversation about the hostility at the scene and the possibility of damage to city property as well as injury to officers on scene was imminent--- if 2390 has a beef with the wagon crew then he should not involve other officers in his crusade to make their lives miserable--- if 2390 still doesn't get it, then take your button and gun off and call him out--- if he has any balls he will accept the challenge but we all know that he will be on the phone crying for the deputy and initiating a cr against you--- bosses on cpd = bitchorama....

Fletcher isn't that bad, not sure why you are hating on him here. He isn't the most outgoing social guy, but he also hasn't hurt anyone in the district since he got there. He lets his Capts and Lts run the watch, and only intercedes when he has to. Others could take a page out of his book.

Keep trying to convince yourself that u did the right thing 2390. But u didn't and there isn't a person on the dept that would agree with what u did. Accept that and learn from it and move on. Respect is not given, it's earned and you've got a lot of earning (and learning) to do.

How childish and immature. Call him out? Try that in any job and you would be fired and arrested as you should be if you do it on the department. Who in the hell do you think you are/ Follow orders. That is your job. Always someone who thinks they know better.
If police officers were assigned based on square miles in each police district the 016 District should have 1282 officers assigned to the 016 District. I guess the message to the taxpayer from Emmanuel is you people up there in Edison Park, Norwood Park, Jefferson Park, Portage Park, Dunning , Montclare, Belmont Cragin, may have the largest amount of land in any police district but you are insignificant. Just keep paying those high taxes so we can keep diverting your tax dollars and the city services they pay for to the ghetto where they pay no tax, sleep to noon everyday and get everything for free. Whose the fucking chumps, Bitch.
Based on the square milage of the 016 th District (rated #1 by the way at 30.53 square miles with the next closest being 26 square miles)we should have 42 officers per square mile or 1265.82 officers. So we are getting slighted by the City of Chicago over 1000 officers we deserve for our tax dollars. This is being done at the direction of Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. Remember this next time you go to vote. Yet we have 2 police districts that are under 4 square miles and they both have a minimum of 400 officers assigned as opposed to a district that is over 7 times the size and has 150 less police officers assigned. Feel like this Democratic thing is working out. They will take everything they can from you, including the police protection you are paying for and ship it to the ghetto because they deserve it, how's that Democratic thing working out for you now. On top of that they are shipping the shit bosses here so they will chase out of the 016 th District any remaining good working police officers and load this district up with dog ass ghetto police officers. How's that democratic thing working for you now. Can you hear me now.
