More Hints of a Shortage
Yesterday, we pointed out an article showing how traffic stops are down statewide along with tickets, led by the Chicago Police Department. We opined that the claimed non-existent manpower shortage was in fact, an actual manpower shortage and that coppers running from call to call all day and night left little time for traffic enforcement.

- Mcjersey shore, needs to acknowledge that murders have been up the last four months. Sept,Oct, Nov & Dec all had more murders than the previous year. Jan is on pace for a 35% increase in murders. We don't have the manpower to prevent crime. We don't even have the manpower to respond to many calls in a timely manner. There is no time for traffic stops all you do is go from call to call.
We did notice that the Department stopped bragging about the "drop in crime" from month X 2010 as compared to month X of 2011.
Anyone think the media will actually put 1 and 1 together and come up with 2 while Rahm and McJersey tell them it's actually 4?

I don't think at this point anyone even pays attention to the murder rate. As long as they can say they saved money in the police department that's all that matters.

OT...SCC you have to do a piece on the story of the failures and incompetence of the Cook County Dept. of Homeland Security that Mikey Masters is incharge of. Story comes out monday. Feds basically called that office a joke. Not a surprise, Masters never had a damm thing to do with law enforcement, but since he is pals with the Daley's he got a bubble gum badge and played fake cop. He has no background in law enforcement, but Peckerwinkle put him incharge. Funny. I guess we can all feel safe with Masters and his crew protecting us. Huge waste of $$$$. Unnecessary. Great job Peckerwinkle!

2011 Homicide total's for Puerto Rico(1,136) to be exact making it the bloodiest in the Islands history 2012(10) and counting.
Think sbout it.
One of the reasons, or the many big reasons Officer Clifton Lewis was killed was all these shortages.
There has been a covered up shortage of police manpower that has been getting worse for years. So there are less police to go to the calls, investigate the crimes and arrest the offenders. Because there are less police, we don't have the time to make the stops that might have caught these bad guys before the crime.
Because there are shortages of prison space the Governor has allowed early releases and paroles so dangerous convicts can roam our streets to prey on more victims.
Because there are shortages of equipment, computers and cars we are hard pressed to do our jobs on the best of days.
There are no shortages however of gangbangers, greedy politicians who want their votes and money and all those illegals coming to our scanctuary state and city.
Keep trying to make us do more with less and soon there will be nothing left. Nothing but a body count.

I am patrolman for life, what these wack jobs do to further destroy the CPD matters not to me. I cannot be fucked with any more, I am protected by my contract and, unlike sgts, Lt's and captains, I will NEVER sell out my co-workers because some stroke who thinks they are on the way up has an idea about some new abortion and wants to save $4.95.

Well I can say I'm not the guy who did it and we aren't security, but we should do our jobs. I don't care if I ever stopped a "nice thing". If someone decides to give me a break then I appreciate it very much. But I always have money in my pocket for any discount. You know there's all sorts of jag bag officers out there. Every cop on each watch knows who they are. It won't ever change and you'll just have to find yourself a new place. But now you won't have to ever feel like you need to return a favor. Actually if you read the contract it states you must perform those duties 2 hours or more to put in for out of grade.
I am surprised nobody has commented on the all too obvious: They are not getting rid of the rank of Captain. They are getting rid of the rank of Commander!
The XO will be running the Districts and Units soon enough. They will do this through attrition or forcing the current Commanders to retire. Lieutenants will run the Watch with Sergeants and the Sergeants will be in charge when the Lieutenant is off.
Now most will think, "Good, fuck 'em". That is shortsighted, though, unless you came on the job to work harder for less money. This whole shake up equates to the Police Department taking a huge pay cut with less chance of promotion. Now are you paying attention young guy?
This is a naked end run around our Union. Nothing new for the Mayor.

(w/c or station supervisor) whatever he is called sitting at the desk(supposed to be doing desk sgt duties) Then we have a field Lt. driving around doing what? Because the field Lt. stated it is not my responsibility what goes on on the street. Said Lt. states if there is a shooting the Sgt. handles the scene???? So again what the Fuck do we need a field Lt for. Then we have this XO thing coming in all week at 1330 hrs but we have the D/C here during that time. So much for that savings and dwindling the useless fat!!!!

Hey Desk people! if you do the sheets or any station supervisor work put the out of grade slip in! Grab a pair and fill them out. Remember with this move (station Supervisor) they have taken away any chance of Officers making Sgt or Sgt making Lt.
Actually if you read the contract it states you must perform those duties 2 hours or more to put in for out of grade.

Maybe I'm wrong and please correct me If I am, but for years upon years we were budgeted for 13,500 officers and It seems recently, that number has quietly changed to just 13,000 in the budget. 49 passed the shoot, only 35 of those passed the obstacle course/pullups.
This just in new general order outlinging the following:
All Districts will now be Precincts. The word "Offender" will no longer be allowed on reports to be replaced by the term perpetrator. When refering to an arrest all employees must say collar and the use of the word "pinch" to refer to an arrest will be punished by spar.
More changes to come as all Precints will have new names similar to NYC
