You Want Me?

  • Be careful what you ask for.

An intoxicated motorist asked police if they “wanted him" early this morning at an Irving Park neighborhood stoplight, officials said, prompting a search that found weapons -- including a loaded assault-style rifle -- in his SUV.

David Kelly, 52, who has no prior criminal history, was behind the wheel of a black, 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe stopped at a light at Irving Park Road and Central Park Avenue when he noticed a police squad next to him, rolled down his window, and began yelling, "Hey, you looking for me, you guys want me?" according to police.

He attracted the attention of a police sergeant inside the squad who curbed the Tahoe in the 3700 block of West Irving Park shortly afterward, police said. It was just after midnight early this morning.

Then the problems really started:

  • The sergeant found a loaded assault rifle with additional magazines in the back seat and a fully loaded .357 Magnum handgun on the front seat, as well as about 30 grams of cannabis, according to police.

Kelly was arrested without incident and charged with not having a valid driver’s license, driving while under the influence of cannabis, possession of cannabis, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of an “unregisterable” firearm for the assault rifle and a city violation for failing to register the handgun, police said.

Authorities also searched his home on the 5100 block of West Gunnison Street where they found several more weapons.
If you're going to be an idiot, don't go around broadcasting it to the world.

I find this one hard to believe...

The only times I've ever rolled down my window, and began yelling at a squad car, "Hey, you looking for me, you guys want me?", I was high on crack or PCP, but NEVER from smoking pot.

Being under the influence of cannabis does not make you aggressive... well, unless someone won't share their giant dill pickle and half gallon of chocolate milk with you... but that just makes it justifiable!

** 57 DAYS UNTIL THE APOCALYPSE. **

The rooftop reverend is still on the rooftop and we're entering what is it...11 weeks now?

They're playing shoot-em up on the west-side tonight with drunk drivers running over people and let us not forget "the children" that we have no speed trap cameras to save them from getting shot -- 1 dead, 4 wounded on the south side.

Rahm has no respect for the laws.

Picking and choosing for personal political gains.

We're getting political bullshit about the need for welding jobs and aircraft mechanics and American Airlines is laying off thousands of them. Boeing in Kansas is laying off thousands of them.

We're getting more bullshit about Chrysler adding "much-needed" jobs.

I am so eff-ing sick and tired of hearing politicians use those adjectives "much-needed" like a Bill Clinton "I feel your pain..." line.

Hidden in the media Pr's they tell us the jobs are part-time and full time temporary positions.

Most likely timed for election purposes it looks like to me.

Just wait until we get the annual jobs unemployment report revision for 2011 that will demonstrate how we've been lied to about job creation over the last 12 months. Just as in the same manner that they've lied with that report in 2010, and 2009, 2008, etc, etc, etc... No-one is going to adjust the formula though even though it's been proven to be consistently off.

They raised our taxes, parking, public transportation, water and electric bills. Raised our tolls, fines, and fees for city stickers. And they are kicking the mentally ill into the street while bodies are piled one on top of another at the city morgue.

The city that works my azz!

To all you people talking bad about this sgt. And not believing it STF up. I grew up in a police family, I sas my dad get dressed and work all nite then he came home and worked some more, all so me and my brothers, sisters, and mother could do better than he did. He told us how the old timers used to tell him, " become a boss get them stripes kid, it means no more work", but my dad used to say he could never do that. He worked the riots was assigned to the projects and never and I mean never did he complain or refuse to do the job he was proud to do. He put his uniform on every day and used to tell us " always remember whatever you do, you do it the best you can. Don't do it for anyone else you do it for yourself and have pride in what you do". I value rose words to this day. I have become a grandmother and gave many family members who are the police and I know every one of them lives the job. They don't complain they dress go out and do what it is they chose to do. I want to than you sergeant for doing what it is you chose to do, Be the police!!!!!. I want to thank you for not thinking those stripes you wear mean, no more work, I want to thank you for making the streets a little safer for my kids, my grand kids and everyone else. Know that you saved lives, do not believe that you didn't, the average policeman would have looked at that man and drove the other way. You continue to do what it is you started many years ago. I know my husband is looking down on you and all other officers and feeling good there are still policemen and women that wear the uniform with pride and do what ut is they swore to do.

CPD Star Exchange Project – 2012

BOP #12-0035

03 February 2012

The Chicago Police Department will be issuing an updated CPD Star to all sworn members within our department. Each week the Human Resource Division will send out an AMFN fax message that identifies the distribution point and which units are scheduled to participate in the exchange process.

(I believe they are the same stars we have now however they will have a xxxxx.2 on the back as the serial number. Perhaps the Blackinton badge company is covering the cost because the orginals were CRAP as the letters and numbers fell off.)

You call for the DUI guy over the air and there is a unit with you already, of course everyone thinks it's a normal DUI. If you have a man with a gun, don't just ask for a DUI specialist. Ask for assist units now, ask for the DUI guy when it's all under control. Why would you think that a DUI would roll units your way when there are 3 of you there already and one more on the way?

The "dogasses" you refer to took the Sgt and DUI guys arrestee to the hospital. How many department members does it take to process 2 firearms, bullets, some weed and a DUI? Hey, maybe 6 of us can go in box 1! If you're not going to do the work, don't make the stop.

It was a clusterfuck, but a good pinch.

Did you ever notice that clusterfuck manages to attach itself to the same people all the time? I wonder why that is?

Most of the time , every one on the watch wished that he stays as being a supervisor and would stop making traffic/street stop. But, if the guy still wants to work and wants to get those over time to support his family, then let him be. As long as he keeps his troops safe, I'll back him up any time any day of the week as I would do for you because we wear the same fucking patch on our uniform..

Do we really support the laws that prohibit someone to carry firearms? besides from being intoxicated, he had no prior criminal history.

OK, follow closely.

He was in possesion of pot (quite a bit, in fact) and was probably high while in control of a motor vehicle.

He has some mental problems as evidenced by his behavior.

We don't have concealed carry in Illinois, so, why does someone have a loaded revolver on the seat next to him that is not in a gun bag?

He had a loaded AK in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Those are just what the doctor ordered for personal protection AND concealed carry. The rifle wasn't in a gun bag. In Felonois, this is illegal still.
