"I thought she was dead," said Kohnke, 24. "It's sad. I'm happy that she's still here. But it's really sad."
Kitanna Peterson and Kohnke's boyfriend were hit by gunfire as they cooled off near a fire hydrant around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of North Leamington Avenue in the Austin community, according to Chicago police.
This is like what? The fourth or fifth kid under 12 shot in the past 5 days? And how many were out late? This one was playing in the streets at 11:20 p.m? What's it going to take to wake people up? Someone getting shot.....oh wait, that's already happening and no one seems to give a shit.

He struck the child, got out of his car, looked, and then drove off. The child was dead at the scene. And as usual, bystanders don't remember a thing. I realize you guys don't have much to go but please do it for the baby, she deserved better.

You want a better life in the ghetto the only place you're likely to achieve it is in the underground economy living in survival of the fittest mode.
For anyone that doubts that discrimination is a thing of the past and that there are laws to protect you. Yes this is horrible, it's despicable the kids are left out late in a known violent area. That said, if I was a black man living in that area, I'd be practicing at the range and when ready go around executing these punks. fire hydrant open....illegal but the "responsible" adults go along with the program. 11:30 at night everyone is out in front running in the hydrant. Don't give me it's hot in the house either. Given the number of young chillins that have been shot in the Austin community, I propose we name a child of Chalkie who could help us count shootings under the age of 12. My entry is LaChalkus West. Feel free to add your own.
