Did anyone else read FOP's current update? About the City to hire 450-500 officers and this is a "tangible" result of the money they paid for billboard and public transportation signs?

Maybe it's not your job to run the FOP, maybe those elected to their posts are authorized to make decisions affecting the membership without having to do whatever the sarcastic minority thinks they should do to make them happy?
Whatever they cost, it pissed Emanuel off but he never made it public. Whats with the outdoor role calls. Dont you guys have a roll call at the start of your day. In my humble opinion, this is just a waste of time and resources. If all the police are standing outside where is all the proactive policing going on. About five years ago I saw one of these roll calls. The only people there were the police and a few neighbors wondering what was going on. After the roll call the police left and no-one saw them again. The whole idea behind the out door role call is that people will see the police and feel safer, but that does not happen because we the public know that there are not enough police on the street to do a job that needs man power to properly be deployed.Tell your big bosses to stop the FUCKING side show of misdirection and confusion this is not a magic show, David Blain gets money to entertain people. We the public do not need to be entertained by the Chicago Police Dept. We need the officers on the street. I had a very good officer once tell me, after I questioned why he was just sitting there doing noting, he said I get paid not for what I do but for what I might have to do, he later was on the news,killed in the line of duty. Just thinking out loud here. Crime is up in the form of murders and shootings. McDoofus berates the commanders at Constat but transfers and/or demotes no one. Yet he wants to hold them responsible for what is happening in their districts. So here's my question. When is someone going to hold McDoofus responsible for the same things? His strategies aren't working:
- eliminating W/C and establishing an XO: failure
- no desk sgt: failure
- closing districts: failure (districts are way too big as is)
- consolidating det areas: failure
- eliminating a citywide response force: failure
( As a matter of fact, isn't the Violence OT Initiative where 100-150 officers are deployed to hot spots exactly what units like SOS, MSF and TRU did?)
- management/pilgrim relationships: failure
So, when will he be berated in the press and city council? When will HE be held responsible for the crime conditions. In essance, McDoofus needs to be replaced by a cop who cares about being a cop - who cares for other cops and who cares about doing police work instead of building a resume for future jobs. That's how crime will be reduced. No real Chicago cop is impressed by his NYPD career or how he ran Newark PD. And the real Chicago cops out there saw right through his George Patton imitation at NATO. I think this just proves the fact that he being an outsider - like Weis - was and is a monumental mistake and now the City of Chicago is paying for that mistake in the body count. Funny, in an article in the Newark papers a few months ago they were saying the same things. I guess history does repeat itself.

He said nock it down to 50 and then we will talk after the budget kicks in. Now with the violence and absolutely no end on site he is no way taking 60 officers off the street. The reason for the interviews with McCarthy for merit LT and Merit Sgt where so MCathy can claim he hand picked some good worthy picks as a small small portion of the already assigned merit picks to gain some popularity with the ranks for showcasing hard work. If you know 90% of te people who were called down to interview with him they all had earned at least a chance for an act they did and their consistent work ethic.
Again tho. There will be no class at any time on the near future it has already been established by 9.5 and agreed by MCcarthy as he can't jump on tv right now and say they are moving officers off the street. Take this from someone in the know and who will be in the next class after waiting 6 years with a score under 120 and no sign of it coming soon

Why you ask.. because I dont just kill someone because a use of force model says I can. If I can tazer dude 14 times and go home at night then so be it. Ive been in 6 shootings in my career. Im tired of being in shootings. All of the people I have shot have had a gun. With that being said now that I carry a tazer if a guy with a golf club comes at me then yes I will use my tazer first. If I can keep zapping him then I will.. Its only the pull of a trigger. Ive killed 2 people... Its not the best thing to do. I dont kill or shoot people just because I can, its not the way its done. If your gonna shoot then shoot because you absolutly have to. Yes, a golf club is deadly but you and I both know whats up and what you can do first. The French helped us become the US. They financed our Revolution, in part because they hated the British but nevertheless, they did it.
Whatever you think of the French, what with the jokes and all, France has long been a friend of the US. Without the French, there might not be a USA as we know it today.

Grew up with a guy that became a doctor. After medical school he said he would never be treated by a black doctor because of the breaks they were given. I was surprised because he was always leaning left.
He also said he felt bad for the competent ones because they would always be painted with the same brush.

The reason for the interviews with McCarthy for merit LT and Merit Sgt where so MCathy can claim he hand picked some good worthy picks as a small small portion of the already assigned merit picks to gain some popularity with the ranks for showcasing hard work. If you know 90% of te people who were called down to interview with him they all had earned at least a chance for an act they did and their consistent work ethic.
Again tho. There will be no class at any time on the near future it has already been established by 9.5 and agreed by MCcarthy as he can't jump on tv right now and say they are moving officers off the street. Take this from someone in the know and who will be in the next class after waiting 6 years with a score under 120 and no sign of it coming soon

This is the current response from the CPD test Dec of 2010:
You will be referred in lottery order to the Chicago Police Department. We refer in groups of 250 to 300 candidates at a time. We have referred the first 3,250 individuals over to Chicago Police Department on five separate referrals. The lists were sent over to CPD in March of 2011 (250), June of 2011 (250), March of 2012 (250), May 2012 (500), and June 2012 (2,000). The combination of both lists includes individuals between the numbers of 1 and 3,134 in lottery order plus the next qualified veteran applicants in lottery order to meet our requirement of 20% veterans representation on each individual referral list. Only these candidates that have been referred have been contacted by the Chicago Police Department to begin the next steps in the pre-employment testing process.

Why would you not put the number on here for the new hire list and proceedure. Everyone complains about not enough cops. Transparency my ass. And if you call that number, will anyone pick up within 20min of transfer and run around?

We supplied and supported the French during the earliest days of the Vietnam War. That began as soon as the Japanese were defeated. Ho Chi Minh fought with the US and allies against the Japanese on the promise that free elections would be held after Japan's defeat.
It wasn't to be. As soon as hostilities with Japan ceased, France marched back in to reclaim their colony. Ho Chi Minh realized he'd been double crossed and turned his army against the French and kept on fighting.
During the decisive Battle of Dien Ben Phu it was American/CIA supplied planes that supplied the French garrison and American bought supplies that were dropped. The French involvement ended in 1954.
Then we started sending "advisors" and the CIA more or less ran things until the 60's when we got in in a big way. We learned nothing from the French involvement, repeating many of the same mistakes of the French.
Barry Goldwater, a Republican who ran for president in 1964, said he wasn't sure we should be there but if we were to go in, that force should be nothing short of massive and overwhelming and we should get it done and get out.
Lyndon Johnson, a Democrat, ran on the promise of no Vietnam involvement. That didn't work out too well.
Two of the best books on Vietnam were written by Bernard B. Fall. They are Street Without Joy and Hell In A Very Small Place: The Siege Of Dien Bien Phu. His books are used in the US War College.
Fall was killed in Vietnam in 1967 while a correspondent on patrol with US Marines.
