I don't know about HQ, but it takes 10 minutes to log onto a computer and another 15 to print a report.
Maybe someone should climb onto the roof or check the basement....those copper and building thieves steal EVERYTHING....just advice. And that's only the workers, not even counting the hypes!

The City Inspector General's most recent self serving recommendations include using half the electrical power necessary to operate. They estimate that the City will save (now this is just an estimate) $42.17 per month. Producing an annual savings of $506.04. Of course we the member's of the CPD would like to thank the Inspetor General for his essentially self serving recommendation and look forward to any future participation in CPD business by the IG. The City opted in to switch from ComEd. Now they will see why that might not have been such a great idea.

They never properly planned for the electrical needs of that building when it was built. Since then they have been adding more and more electrical load. It is one coffee maker short of a black out and fire.

Seems the commander got spanked at the Compstat meeting last week for not enough contact cards being written on the beat by the actual beat car for that beat. Well our XO tells the foot guys when they do contact cards to write in whatever beat they are writing the contact card on as themselves being that beat car. So if your foot post is 1983 and your write a contact card on bt 1911 you are to write in bt 1911 as the beat writing the contact card so when the totals are counted it's looks like those beat cars are actually writing contact cards on their respective beats. I know this sounds kind of small detail bs but could this be co reused as an XO telling officers to lie, I mean commit a Rule 14 violation over a contact card? Just asking, just asking???? I wonder if the Commander is aware of this new district policy? Hmmmmmmm...........
Yep! The walsh constructed short cement pour (had to payoff) the "tilt a whirl" thrill ride where the desks mysteriously opened up,and the drawers would not stay shut,until shims were put underneath! Ahh,that building when they first built the gym he dumbells were round but had to get hex shape to keep them fom rolling across the room! That building where the doors won't close and air blows in!
That was the plan all along. Dwindle down the police force and send "1000" new officers to the street so there was room for he hose jockeys at HQ

But....lights are blazing through the ENTIRE building 24/7! Talk about waste - or does someone have a friend at ComEd?

How close should they be standing,
and what kind of protection should they have...

A friend of mine who often worked that particular post is now in stage 4 cancer.
I know the employees at O'Hare security that operate scanners have to wear badges that monitor and gauge their exposure.

I needed a good belly laugh.
New 12th district has problems. Engineers can't regulate the heat ( meaning there is none). The foundation is not level ( the floors have all sorts of slopes and valleys). There is a crack in the floor at the front desk by the name Near West District Station, and the men's locker room is leaking on the second floor. Give us our old 13th & 12th districts back.

FYI: This has nothing to do with the X/O nor the Commander. Most officers are NOT putting the beat of occurrence, when they enter contact cards in the computer.
The same goes for the ANOV's. There is really no easy way to track the ANOV's either, so Officers are being asked to write the beat.
OT-Where is the FOP on anything that is related to Police work.
1) My commander in the district is telling us about contact cards, but yet still maintains to keep giving us the same issue with COMP TIME.--- FOP stance. well we put in place a switch with a co-worker..blah blah. Lets see how well this will work on Super Bowl--- again we forget FOP is off weekends.
2) The letter about the Contract, the one know one knows if Mike Shields sent out on time. --- Fop stance--- We sent out the letter.-- Prove of the letter-- No traces of prove anywhere. But we have the Mayor saying "hey screw ups thanks for not sending the letter in on time- Because you are not get retro pay- Fop stance-- We are not guaranteed retro pay- Membership stance- Retro pay means something to us, we are not all making 120,000 a year like the Fop guys are making.-- Fop stance--- We dont talk about what we make-- Membership stance-- Why not we pay your salary- FOP--- Cause. Moving along.
3) My sgt is my DSS- who is in charge anymore--- I actually feel bad for the sgts. They are being told to take charge of a whole watch, not a sector. Not kissing the asses of sgts but think about it- one screw up by the sgt. We need captains back, and watch and field LTs on each watch.
4) FOP--- most people keep the FOP around because of the legal part of the union. No one has 20,000 a pop when they are wrongful accused by some mutt who signs the affidavit. -- Membership lets go after the mutts who sign this, and we come out on top--- FOP--- well lets not wake a sleeping dragon. Membership-- what a joke.
5) The merger of all these districts and dicks. Membership- hey we merged where the hell are you guys at. Come into the districts and talk to us. FOP-- Na, we will be around during re-election.
Conclusion, I feel bad for all you new guys with under 10years on the job. At the rate this is going we will not have a pension, and we will be giving the city back everything that Jane Byrne did for us. So my simple answer keep FOP need something, but do not rely on them for anything. Because those asshats are in it for themselves. Brothers and sisters be careful out there back each other up. Go home safe. Kiss your kids and your partner and just keeping thinking the 1st and 16th. Ooh and those damn contact cards lol

Come on, that was a state-of-the-art fiber optic network with capacity for 40% of the estimated load. What could go wrong?
Really, this is the only enterprise size network I ever heard of that was purposely undersized when new. Usually the network is at full load plus some excess capacity for increased load in the future. Not CPD. Not enough capacity from Day 1.
Sometimes you cannot log on at all. That is because they did not purchase enough licenses (seats) of the software and someone in the system must log off before a new user can log on.
Absolutely knucklehead way to do it. That would be my city.
