Crime Down - Again!

  • There was a 13 percent dip in overall crime and 3,000 fewer illegal weapons on the streets of Chicago this year, announced Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy on Monday.

“We’re having a good year in comparison to where we’ve been in the past in this city,” said McCarthy at the Harrison district headquarters, behind two tables of handguns, assault rifles and other recently confiscated weapons. “We have a historical gun violence problem here, and right now we’re making real progress.”

He also goes on his regular anti-gun screed, not even nodding to the recent legislation in Springfield that should bring concealed carry to Illinois shortly, complete with gun props dragged to the press conference and some politicians, too. No word on how many of these guns might be returned to owners after constitutional challenges.

Is the crime down? Or is it that officers are being being forced to work on limited resources. Less representation by the city, fop, court, etc... no contract, horrible training, shortage of qualified officers, no or broken equipment, unqualified bosses... Please do not think for a moment that shit heads don't know, they know. Can't blame coppers for not doing proactive police work anymore. 9.5 and macpuppet have made a bad situation even worse. Attitude of officers are terrible and for a good reason. Cutting furlo additions, denying rightfully gained comp time, rumors of no retro check, and the list goes on... It will take more than a new mayor and supt to change things around.

There goes Garry's Wet Brain again...

drowning the synchronicity of fact and truth in '3510 Proof Kool-Aid'.

Reality: There weren't '3,000 fewer illegal weapons on the streets of Chicago this year', you Fully Krausened imbecile. If there's any truth in that number, it's that maybe there were 3,000 fewer [illegal] weapons REMOVED from the streets of Chicago this year. As in "the police ain't trying so hard no more".

And would now be a bad time to mention how the word "weapons" implies more than just guns? That maybe Fort Fellatio is trying to be less-than-truthful (SHOCKING!!) regarding the actual year-to-year difference in number of FIREARMS recovered? (the CPD Circus and Gold Star Clowns taught me how to read between the lines early on).

“We have a historical gun violence problem here, and right now we’re making real progress.”

Uhhh, the five Folks (or is they People) from the 5700 block of S. Sangamon that recently became unwitting blood donors would probably beg to differ.

You're the epitome of CPD's "Epic Fail" moments, Garry.

Crime is down because PEOPLE ARE LEAVING CHICAGO!! We also are down several thousand coppers so of course less arrests will be made.

Ask anyone who still lives in the city if they feel crime is down and they will tell you NO.

This "crime is down" thing is absolutely a lie told by Garry MCCarthy and Rahm Emanuel.

Brilliant. McCarthy learned to do math from the Obama administration -- since clearly none of those seized guns were replaced with new stolen ones, just like a few thousand jobs a week means "we've created 7 million new jobs in the past 4 years!!!" (We didn't say NET new jobs, don't pay attention to the 9 million that have left the labor force, or the 350,000 who get laid off every week like clockwork.)

Will the media ever look at the numbers behind "crime is down" mantra? Are the numbers coming from less reports for simple assaults, CTDP, etc and self initiated incidents which provide the bulk of the numbers or down in violent incidents such as aggravated batteries/assaults with handguns, homicides, and robberies.

Most of the guns returned to New Orleans gun owners were no longer operational.

Book:

The Great New Orleans Gun Grab [Paperback]
Gordon Hutchinson (Author), Todd Masson

Book Description
Publication Date: November 1, 2007
Aug. 29, 2005, was a day no American will ever forget. When Hurricane Katrina, one of the five-strongest storms ever to build in the Atlantic Basin, slammed into the city of New Orleans, her towering storm surge tested the limits of the flood walls and levees protecting one of America's largest cities. The surge would find them lacking. As the city filled and drowned, it descended into mass hysteria and anarchy, and within hours became a place that would reveal to Americans whether their Constitution had any more value than the frayed, fragile, brown parchment on which it is written. As looters and thugs took over, the city's leaders turned their crosshairs and iron sights toward the lawful, gun-toting citizens who sought nothing more than to defend themselves from the marauding hordes. In what proved to be the greatest real-life test of the Second Amendment in American history, America failed miserably. The Great New Orleans Gun Grab tells the story of New Orleans residents who legally defied mandatory evacuation orders to protect their property, and who were subsequently beaten, harassed and robbed of their guns by the very civil authority that was funded and charged to protect them.

OT - Once again Chicago liberals make us a laughingstock.

University of Chicago removed pews from 88-year old chapel to accommodate Islamic prayers. According to University spokesman Susie Allen, "the pews were removed in order to provide Muslim students a place to pray.”

Basically, they turned a Christian chapel into a mosque.

University of Chicago - the liberal-progressive model: "Where gays give head and Muslims behead gays. It's all okay."

No, crime is not down. Crime REPORTING is down.

After I had stuff stolen from my porch last week, I told several neighbors, to warn them. Two of the four told me stories about other items stolen on our block that week. No reports. They figure, if insurance won't cover it (deductible), there's no point in reporting and waiting an hour on hold with 311, never seeing a squad in the neighborhood, anyway.
So, no reports, no crime. See how easy it is to drive the crime rates down?

It's "Chicago Math" check it out.

New Math Makes It Easier to Lower Unemployment

For years, economists have accepted 150,000 as the benchmark number of new jobs needed every month to keep the jobless rate level. Anything above that was supposed to lower the rate, while anything below added to the closely followed headline number.

Not so anymore, according to the Chicago branch of the Federal Reserve .

Central bank researchers, in fact, say that because of various factors that number now will be closer to 80,000.

HAHAHAHAHA.. 80,000 a month times 12 months == 960,000 jobs a year hahaha.

BUT LOOK...>>

How many students will graduate this year?

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) projects 1,791,000 students at the bachelor's degree level will graduate as the college Class of 2013.

The best part is that the employment number bullshit is coming the the Chicago FED!! So we can expect 50% of the 2013 college grads to leave the work force because only half of them will find jobs, right?

Now combine that with falling work hours and falling wages and falling labor participation rates and tell me where the city and the state is going to get the money to keep this ponzi scam of theirs going!

Prepare for Armageddon. The best and the brightest are unwilling or unable to leverage the highly educated workforce. The so-called American Dream is crumbling before our eyes.

The alderman want answers garry!

via the reader...

[...]..by our estimate the local arrests still cost taxpayers at least $78 million in court expenses and thousands of police hours a year—and it turns out that's just part of the picture. The ACLU found that in 2010 marijuana-possession arrests cost Illinois taxpayers $221 million.

Little has changed since then.

Last summer the Chicago City Council passed a law that allowed police to issue tickets instead of booking and locking up marijuana possessors. Supporters said it would reduce costs and keep low-level users out of the criminal justice system. "This is just a no-brainer," Alderman Danny Solis, the chief sponsor, said at the time.

But the law hasn't worked the way Solis hoped. Police have concluded that the ticketing process is a pain in the butt and doesn't send a strong enough message in tough neighborhoods. So they rarely use it, issuing just 17 citations a week citywide.

Meanwhile, the arrests keep coming. In the ten months since the law was passed, police have made more than 12,000 arrests for misdemeanor possession, 76 percent of them in black wards, according to police data.

That's an average of 281 arrests a week, or more than 40 a day. They've consumed 97,000 police hours and at least $30.2 million in court costs.

Police officials say they enforce the laws to protect public safety. Solis says he'd like some more answers. He promises to hold a hearing in the coming weeks to revisit the issue with police superintendent Garry McCarthy.

"It's time to sit down and have him give us an explanation of what's happening," Solis says. "Why are certain communities still targeted? Why aren't we ticketing? What's it costing us?"

http://www.chicagoreader.com/Bleader/archives/2013/06/07/marijuana-busts-still-costing-millions-of-taxpayer-dollars

Explain it to us Garry. Pissing away a quarter of a billion dollars would put a lot more cops on the streets to address the real problems and not the urinating in public bullshit that you're wasting resources on.

Heh, maybe you should TOW THEIR CARS!

Put that one up there with: Less police officers means less reported crime.

If any one has to explain that to you taxpayers, here it is. Picture this: If you only had one police officer in Chicago, you wouldn't bother waiting for a report and crime would be down almost 100%. That's it in a nut shell. A significant number of victims no longer wait an ungodly amount of time to make a report.
