Another Off-Duty Female Attacked
This time in her own home - but she had the answer:
- An off-duty Chicago Police officer shot and seriously wounded a man who police said broke into her South Side Ashburn neighborhood home Friday morning.
The officer was awakened by a commotion on the first floor of her home in the 7900 block of South Sacramento about 9:40 a.m., police said.
The officer brought her pistol downstairs to investigate and was confronted by a man who “lunged” at her, Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden said.
The suspect had climbed through a window in the officer’s home and was removing items, police said.
The homeowner identified herself as an officer and ordered the man to show his hands, but instead, the man charged at her and she fired her weapon, police said.
The man, thought to be 17 or 18, was shot several times and taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Camden said. He is expected to survive.

Before everybody on this blog starts bad-mouthing Balcer, people who dont know this guy need to look at his background and history with the police. Balcer has consistently been pro-police and a friend to our department. He's a bonified war hero (Vietnam) who always backed our actions and pushed for pay raises and better equipment. He is one probably the only alderman that doesnt cater to "Storefront Reverends" and race-baiting "Community Activists". So please don't attack this guy on the blog because one statement that got twisted by a piece of crap columnist. Balcer, in my opinion, is the only alderman in this city that deserves to be where he is at.

My apartment was burglarized three years ago. It is emotionally devastating to come to your own home and see someone broke into it. Someone went through your personal belongings and stole what they needed and just threw around what they didn't want and make a mess. Now you are left without your own property and you have to clean up the mess. Burglars, thieves and any other person who deprives people of their own property and well being are assholes to the nth degree. When something like this happens to them, they deserve every fucking thing they get.

Just because someone is a cop doesn't mean they can shoot.

007 has criminal janitors too. once rahm, i believe, got rid of our union cleaning service because he was trying to save money he then hired the convict crew from county. 007 has had thefts too. they make it more and more obvious everyday they don't care about any of our needs or well-being so don't ever do anything to benefit this mayor or supe unless it works for you and your family.

How the f*ck do you 'retreat' when someone lunges at you? The only reason to lunge at someone with a gun is to transfer control of said gun to yourself....to cause great bodily harm or death to that person in order to effect an escape.
Isn't there still a lawsuit pending against the officer who shot and killed Ramiz Othman during a home invasion a few summers ago.Convicted burglar out on bond with trial pending and shot during an attempted burglary and still a lawsuit filed.Hopefully this officer doesn't have to deal with the same thing.
