Remember His Ride
A fundraiser for the off-duty Officer killed riding his bike is looking for some assistance:
- On June 11, 2013 Brian McDevitt took off work as a Chicago Police Officer to spend a day with his family. That afternoon, Brian, an avid cyclist, went for a bike ride on a local trail. Brian was struck by a vehicle while crossing an intersection. He remained unconscious at Advocate Christ Medical Center for ten days before succumbing to his injuries. Brian is survived by his wife Margaret, his son Brian Jr, 3 years old, and his daughter Molly, 1 year old. Brian was a dedicated Chicago Police Officer and recent recipient of the Award of Valor.
Please join Brian's family and friends for a celebration of Brian's life. A non-profit account has been set up and all proceeds will benefit Brian's wife and children.
Hop on over to the link here and see if there's any assistance you can offer. There's a gun raffle, t-shirts and fundraising tickets available.

I really wish people can understand how great of a person and police officer Brian was. This guy was the real police and by real police I mean that he went out everyday with a good attitude and arrested bad guys, alot of bad guys. He never wanted or needed any attention and never said a bad word about anybody. That, my friends, is the definition of the "real police".
Retired County P/O just catching up on old posts... Condolences CPD, on the loss of yet another fine Officer. Godspeed and may he Rest In Peace.
Please advise if he had family on ISP.
Again, sincere condolences...
