Sergeant Carjacked

  • A Chicago police sergeant was carjacked while off-duty in the South Shore neighborhood Friday night, police said.
About 10:20 p.m., the sergeant was behind the wheel of a silver 2006 Infinity SUV when he was carjacked near 71st Street and East End Avenue, police said.

The sergeant was not taken to a hospital but was treated on the scene for minor wounds, police said.

His gun, badge, and bulletproof vest were in the SUV, which is still missing this morning, police said.
An awful lot of this shit going around lately. Check the AdMin Fax messages for specifics on the jacked car.

The part about being off duty in 003 makes me lose interested in the story. Just glad he wasn't severely injured or killed. Aren't Supervisors tested and promoted due to their knowledge and ability to use their better judgment and make wise decisions? Move your family out of that hell hole. Meet your friends away from that hell hole. Never hang out/drive thru that hell hole. Get where this is going Sarge?

Pfffffffft!

Hold it ,SCC. I was just told by McJerseyshore that crime is down and that there are more than enough police on the streets. You know what ? I think I've been lied to.

I am a former Chicago area resident now in GA. There are two safe places for your gun. 1. In your holster 2. In your gun safe. Always carry, never tell. I sure didn't when I was downtown last month with a IWB 1911. Until you start voting correctly, you get what you deserve.

Can someone up the food chain please tell the commander, and captain at the OEMC to retire or go back on the streets.

There are real police officers who would like to fill these spots if they don't want them.

Any civilian can fill these positions they are supposedly pretending to run.

Real nice..how about wow that sucks that one of our own got beat pretty bad by a group of savages even after identifying himself as the police. Merit or not applies exactly how here??? So tired of hearing people cry about merit, merit, merit. You know you would take it if offered to you so quit bitching. Especially with how slow they've been promoting these days. Anyone who says they wouldn't is a liar

It's a shame that out of his long career all people who don't know him focus on is the brief, less than a year, time period that he was the Supe's driver. He spent a large chunk of his career in narcotics & was a great officer there. He has a lot of time on & is a great person if you even took the time to look beyond the merit promotion. Feel better Sgt!

to 2.30am.......you have no idea what the personal circumstances of the Sgt are.

I'm still on the job at 54 and working the street. People think I'm crazy, but with two kids still on the payroll, one in grad school, I work to keep them from having to take out huge loans

I drive my wife down in that area once a month when she has to visit a part of her company down near there. Heavilly armed and I don't let her go down there unless I'm with her or our other son (suburban copper) is with her.

But obviously not on their spelling/grammar prowess.

Hey "white shirt by test score", allow me to give you a hearty "FUCK YOU". And one more for good measure: F-U-C-K Y-O-U

Maybe you're not aware, but a grown man is free to make his own decisions, consequences be damned. No doubt you're one of the (too) many KoolAid-guzzling, white-shirt-wearing micromanaging pieces of shit that have inundated the supervisory ranks over the last decade-plus.

Please continue holding yourself in such high esteem by capitalizing the "s" in supervisors. That smidgen of information alone speaks volumes about what a douchebag you are. You've successfully transmitted the message that you've never been the Real Police and that you can't be trusted.

Dickhead.

For the idiot that leaves his gun in his locker along with his badge good luck being just another sheep in the herd. You are as useless as tits on a bull if you ever encounter shithead when he tries to jack you or when you're with your loved ones but then again you probably think "naw....nothings gonna happen".

Folks here is a FBI email regarding this issue. It's nice to know that all CPD Task Force Officers detailed to FBI are not all deemed appropriate. Who the fuck do these morons think they are? The two nitwits running this fairyland investigation are th same two who had an informant killed earlier this year. So if you have someone that knows something, don't call these two clowns. Call the detectives investigating the case and let them do there job. Not these two. Here ya go.....
Folks: please see below information & canvass all logical sources immediately. All positive information should be forwarded to SA Blah blan and TFO blah blah.

SSAs: please forward to any TFOs that you deem appropriate.
When did the police department stop being the police department?

WRT: Off-duty coppers getting jumped in Wrigleyville.

Oh-boy, the citizens that attend CAPs in 019 are having a field day with this.

They've been asking for more cops for weeks, asking if there are less cops since the districts merged and all they get is silence and/or double talk from the Ald and commander,

"Oh the people getting attacked are drunk. They're waving their I-phones around and asking to be robbed. If you see a stranger run home and lock all the doors. Stop walking in the alley. Walk in gangs of your own..."

Yeah Gary, it's all an illusion. A perception problem. People getting robbed in front of a CPD pod camera 500 feet from the mayors house. Putting a huge empty bus on the corner. Renaming officers duties to entertainment detail to give residents the impression that these are additional officers when it's just a renaming of function.

Yeah, it's a perception problem alright. No-one is buying your perception anymore.

Well boys? Go talk to your bosses.

The mayor and Ald Burke want this to be a gun free zone so don't expect a conceal carry citizen to be there to help out.

Blame the mayor. Blame Burke. Blame the commander of 019 and Ald Tunney. Don't take it out on us that your bosses are political clowns.

It's an eff-ing embarrassment for a cop to get jumped in of all places the downtown entertainment district -- several more cops have to run to a firehouse to get inside and lock the doors.

Crime is down? Are you kidding me?

How about some real cop commanders, not clouted politicians that are busier than cats covering up shit on an linoleum rug.

Agreed. Just because it is cheap doesn't make it worth it or wise to be in that area. Unfortunately, there are officers who'd rather be able to afford a luxury car and send their children to Chicago public schools rather than be in a safer neighborhood for their family.

After reading the first few topics about off duty's getting assaulted, attempted sexual assaults, etc. it seems to me your a contender to be the next RD number. Leave your money in your locker too so they don't get anything when it happens

There are lots and lots off officers who actually grew up in the city and still have family that lives here. How dare you judge them for being in a bad area off duty. We all didn't grow up in the suburbs or in sauganash or edgebrook or out of state. Some of us actually became the police to help "clean up" the neighborhoods we grew up in.and to say that some choose to drive a nice car rather then live in a nice area and send their kids to private school, a hearty GFY. THERE ARE lots of decent families in 2,3,4,5,6 .... That live their by CHOICE. this is still America and they have that right .........a

And what about those of us who don't think that religion has a place in any rational person's life? Should we shove Catholicism down our kids throats' just to appease the christian assholes who feel superior to everyone because they actually brag/whine about paying $10k a year for elementary school? Ever looked at the performance scores comparing catholic schools to some of the better CPS schools? You can't, because the catholic schools won't release comparable data! Now why do you think that is? Blow me.

Why are you so angry? Your final snarky comment of "Blow Me", Now that is very intelligent. We all make our choices of where to live, whether or not to worship God, and where to send our kids to school. I don't knock those who live in 002, 003, 004, 005, or 006. I know those districts have good people living there and good areas, (I worked in a couple of those districts myself). When my kids were younger, my local Public School was positively terrible, and my children didn't have the test scores and I didn't have the clout to get them into one of the better Public Schools, so they went to the local Catholic School. I wasn't happy about paying the tuition but I did it. I don't condemn you for sending your children to Public School so don't condemn us who sent our children to Private Schools.

We lived in 007 by Ogden Park when I was born. Old man became the police and we moved on up to a single family home in 008. It was still another 6/7 years before we could get out of there. To this day my grandparents live in 002 and REFUSE to leave. You want to visit them? You're going to 002. It's a lot easier to move out and stay away when none of your family and friends are still there but dear old grams aint trying to hear that I'm afraid to come visit her in the neighborhood she lives in. It's not the same when you grew up there and your loved ones never left.

I do too...but I have more than one gun and more than one badge. One of each are in the locker and one of each are on my person. That's normal in my department. In fact the GO uses strong language encouraging off-duty carry and that includes PPOs in FTO.

yes, they certainly have that right, along with many other rights that come along with the benefit of living in America, but....there are some neighborhoods and areas that are permanently lost and hopeless, there are certain people who are permanently enmeshed into an underclass, and there are some societal problems and issues for which there are no (and will never be any) solutions.....fact

Spoken like a true merit hack. We keep talking about merit because some of us would like to eventually see that everyone has an equal opportunity for promotion, you know the way it should be. Of course there are those of you who want to keep things just the way they are so that they can weasel their way up the ranks and get wealthier to boot. That bulllshit about anyone would take merit if offered is ridiculous since it is used to promote the politically connected, most of the average guys and gals will never get the chance to accept it or decline a merit promotion now will they? Keep trying to justify the unjustifiable and convince yourself you deserved a promotion you most likely did not.

There are Catholic grammar schools High Schools, Colleges and universities. Catholic hospitals and catholic cemeteries. All are there to educate and make society a better place. Now you got to ask did you ever see a Muslim school or hospital? The only thing they have are 72 virgins and a hand grenade.
