Speed Camera Locations - New Info

Rahm and his people are shading the truth.

Someone mentioned in a comment that the list of locations provided by the City isn't quite accurate. The City listed the name and address of the involved property, but the actual camera locations are within the larger geographic boundaries. Then we got this e-mail last night:
  • SCC, the camera listed in at Garfield Park isn't actually AT the listed address of 100 N. Central Park. There are two cameras, one on Jackson and one on Madison, both "in" Garfield Park, but both a good distance from the mailing address of the Field House.
That would seem to nail it as the cameras begin nailing people with warning tickets until 01 October or so. Your best bet seems to be locating these devices and letting our fellow officers know so as not to give Rahm an opportunity to get his hand in our pockets. Again.

Anyone notice how little police coverage was at the parade yesterday? It seemed like 1 officer every 2 blocks. Must have been the marathon and the bears game all happening at the same time. Nevermind the officer safety bulletin about the kings gunning for a cop over there. And then Pena holding the detail till 1800 when the streets were ready to be opened at 1500.

Also a foot chase, tazering and gun recovered 2 blocks from the parade route.

Get a radar detector with gps and on line updates.
500.00 is only 5 flashes and eventually they will report to your insurance company.

And the school zone speed limit signs are posted well in advance and within city ordinance guidelines right..or perhaps there will be some sort of terrible slip up and the contractor will have to go back and relocate them all --- after a class action lawsuit of course to enrich the clouted city lawyers.

Well, what about radar detectors?

If made illegal I'd never give a ticket to any real citizen with one in Rahm's People's Republic of Chicago.

A gangbanger, a no licencia illegal or anybody with an Obama bumper sticker that's another story.

I suppose I will have to start targeting Hillary for President or Michelle for Senator sticker people soon.

my problem with speed/red light cameras is when tickets are issued pay within x number of days or get your license suspended.

why are tickets like this not entered against driving records? this is way too stinky for me.

what ever happened to three moving violations in a calender year?

betcha the first f'ker with deep pockets to get revoked over camera movers on their record would get this bullshit struck down quick.

They list a speed camera at 39XX East 104th.....(104th & Indianapolis Blvd - 6 lanes of traffic)

There's a PROPOSED school location there......construction has been halted for months after discovering ground contamination.......

They also list it as "park 499".......there is no park......it is the end of the Burnham Greenway bike trail....basically a sidewalk....

One big fuckin money grab.....that's all these things are...

The parade was an f ing joke. One copper per corner on the side streets. Not only makes for a long but also a boring day as you're there by yourself. Pena is a useless hack who couldn't plan a trip to the toilet correctly let alone a parade. And yes she held everybody down till 1830. No lunch, no relief just a long fucking day on your feet. But I'm sure that scandalous biatch was in the command van all day cause I sure as hell didn't see her ass. Nothing to see here. Just tired coppers getting fucked some more.

The radar detector/GPS camera locator device is the way to go, although expensive.

But let me get this straight (not an officer). I thought you didn't like the cameras because they promote the idea that you can be replaced, or that we don't need as many of you, because we have the cameras. But...from what I'm reading above, you don't like them because you fear you will actually get tickets you must actually pay? And that fear is new to you because . . . all this time you know you and your families can ride around as fast as you want with complete impunity because you have that little way of "handling it" with the officer? Whereas with the cameras, to quote Leo from "Thief," there is no discussion. (I want, you work.)

You come from Oak Lawn (40 mph) E/B and cross Crawford into Chicago, yeah I said Crawford, into a 20mph school zone, without warning and the camera is going to get you unless you slam on your brakes, causing several cars, who have no clue what's going on, to run into your rear bumper. Can't wait for that problem.

The ones by Marquette park are on Kedzie. They are there because it is 2 lane traffic so the chance of catching more speeders (revenue) is better. If they were for the safety of the children they would be better placed on Marquette or 71st as there is more residential and more people crossing the street. These are not placed for safety but to maximize revenue.

I cant speak for the original poster but I, as a 20 yr member of the CPD, don't like them. If I pull you over and give you a ticket you have the right to a court date and to face me, your accuser. These cameras take that away. You can ask to see the calibration of my Lidar and defend yourself. You have no idea if these cameras are properly calibrated. You get none of this with the administrative Officers who hear your case. With these type of tickets you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent. This is a plain and simple money grab that sticks it to the taxpayer and it makes me ill.

And sometimes people deserve a break. I have given many breaks out over the years to people and will continue to do so.

And as for handling it among ourselves that is not always a given. There are Officers out there who would write their own mother.

I am also not an officer, but the above poster is obviously trying to be a complete jagoff. The issue with the cameras is that they are a blatant money grab, and therefore 1) will not be calibrated daily as required 2) will therefore not be accurate and result in bogus tickets.

I think someone from the speed camera company is hiring people to go online and post comments like "just drive the speed limit" because that is really not the issue. The issue is no one trusts these cameras and for very good reason.

I don't know what the original poster meant, but let me enlighten you on one thing. When your government wants to hide cameras all over the place and get into you wallet or into your life for any reason, you should be afraid. If you are a socialist, you probably agree with government intrusion into all aspects of your life because you want to be a slave with a master to control your life for you. If you are an American who values liberty and freedom, this should disgust you.

Sure, glad to help out there, troll.
First, find a single reference that someone, anyone indicates that the objection to the speed cameras, or the red light cameras for that matter is a fear of being replaced or not needed.
(excuse me, Bwaaahahaha! Sorry, back on topic)
Countless posts, news articles and the like indicate that they are merely there for R-E-V-E-N-U-E.
(I took the liberty to spell it out for you)
Now take a look at where that 'revenue' is going, i.e. 50 Million improve/rename an existing park now calling it Maggie Daley Park,100's of millions to convert street lanes into unsafe bike lanes, 800 Million to improve rental car and tram facilities at O'Hare, Depaul Stadium Millions, Malcom X almost-college building hundreds of Millions, 91 Million 'green corridor' to mention a few and not a designated nickle to increase police manpower in the 'Murder Capitol of the US,' not to mention the underfunded pension liability that we have been contributing 9% of our salary every check. Follow the money. THAT's what our objection is based upon.
So... keep voting Democratic and allow our politicians (documented) to steal and mismanage our taxes and fees,"with complete impunity because {they} have that little way of 'handling it' with" (fellow Democrats, prosecutors, politicians et al.)
Finally, again 'Whereas to quote Leo' this time Law Enforcement Officers, "Democrat" there is no discussion. (We work, you deal and steal)
P.S. Get off this blog with your B.S.

I'll admit to being provocative above with my post at 12:01 post, but I'm not sure that makes me a complete jagoff. I have the same suspicions about camera errors and the same problems with due process and the way the city runs the administrative hearings.

The question I raised was a legitimate one because many of us non-officers are out there and see you guys talking on your cell phones and driving, blowing stops and reds. When the Kennedy/Edens were configured differently, you took the express lanes and then exited them onto the Edens. This is what we see marked units do. And we're pretty sure there is a lot of stuff done when you're driving your personal vehicle, or whether it's your folks, your wives or girlfriends, or your teenagers. There is a way to "handle" it and many of you have spoken of it here.

Well, if I goof up out there, I don't have a way of "handling it." So over the years I've just wondered at what point it becomes unhelpful to say, "we're officers, we takes various risks for you, we should get breaks from our brethren." I get that and don't necessarily disagree with it; I just wonder whether really there ought to be some limit on it, imposed by you -- to keep and foster our respect, if you care about that. I hope you do.

So I guess I see the cameras as sort of a great equalizer. We're all equally disadvantaged under the law, or the perversion of the law. If you are accustomed to having an edge in these matters, right or wrong, I can see being unhappy in losing that edge.

That's all.

What worries me is your comment "We're all equally disadvantaged under the law, or the perversion of the law."

All of us as citizens should not be disadvantaged under the law. We should all be focused on holding those Politicians accountable for trying to circumvent our rights. You should not feel like you have to sit back and take it because we are all equally screwed. If the Politicians have their way we would all end up like the story Harrison Bergeron.

You are expected to know that the speed limit on Chicago streets is 30mph, UNLESS otherwise posted. You are expected to know handheld cell phone usage while driving in Chicago is illegal. You are expected to know you must stop for people already in crosswalks.

Just because YOU don't know it, doesn't mean it isn't the law.
