Another Parolee?

  • A South Side store owner fatally shot a man who attempted to rob the business Tuesday evening.

Authorities said 25-year-old Demarcus Brandon entered a cell phone store in the 1700 block of East 87th Street and tried to rob the business at gunpoint about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The store owner, who also had a handgun, fatally shot the would-be robber, authorities said.

Brandon, of the of 120 block of East 140th Court in Riverdale, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The store owner was not injured, police said.

Brandon was paroled from the Shawnee Correctional Center in July for armed robbery, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records.

Brandon had been serving two concurrent sentences of three years and 13 years, according to prison records. He was serving 13 years for armed robbery with a firearm and three years for having a rifle with a barrel shorter than 16 inches or shotgun with a barrel shorter than 18 inches, prison records said.
Gee, sentence to 13 years, he's only 25, how many years did he actually serve on the armed robbery conviction?

That "Wall of Fame - Quinn Division" is getting awfully crowded.

*****
Must be the new CPS math system

Per the Trib

The 13-year sentence stemmed from an incident in Chicago in which Brandon was charged with armed robbery with a firearm, armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, gun possession, aggravated fleeing from police, and having either a rifle with a barrel less than 16 inches or shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches.

That case, and the one that ended with a 3-year sentence, both ended in plea deals, according to court records. He was credited for about 20 months time served and admitted to IDOC custody in September 2008.

His projected parole discharge date was in July of 2016, according to IDOC records.

Poor poor Demarcus Brandon. He only *needed* those cell phones so he could keep up with all the job interviews he had 'tomorrow' as he really really REALLY turned his life around after getting out of prison in July.

But alas no more. Demarcus' dreams of becoming an Architect were take away by a *trigger happy vigilante* -- who probably listens to Rush Limbaugh, is a life member of the NRA, and a is 'registered republican'.

Derrick King and Shawn Custis are two additional examples of men who were known threats to society but who were allowed to walk the streets to repeatedly attack citizens and to drain the ever diminishing fiscal resources of the communities in which they preyed.

I think Derrick King is still out there somewhere. For those who don't know or remember, about five years ago he kicked Jennifer Hall senseless, knocking out all but six of her teeth and splitting her head open outside of a South Loop Jewel, because she didn't give King a cigarette he attempted to bum. His rap sheet reflected like 50 arrests over 18 years.

Shawn Custis is the guy who pummeled a NJ mother in front of her baby and then threw the mother down the basement stairs during a home invasion caught on BabyCam. He too had a extensive arrest history. Had it not been for this mothers strength and concern that that animal would attack again, she might have kept anonymous and not made the evidence available to the police/public and Custis would be looking for new victims. She fought back where she could and it resulted in Custis' apprehension. Sadly, there is more of a likelyhood Custis will be out in society in 10 years then he won't.

Both men were convicted of serious crimes and both were sentenced to serious time but were released early to again prey on society before the afore mentioned acts of supreme brutality.

There are thousands of people like these two guys walking the streets.

You take one community like where Demarcus Brandon preyed upon and you have the good people in those communities arm-up, you will see people like Demarcus Brandon, Derrick King and Shawn Custis either gone dead or gone from the community.

IL is over 100 billion dollars in debt. That fact alone is evidence that the state is incapable of protecting its' citizens. We don't have the luxury of being soft on these animals. If we allow them to continue to run wild with the politicians looking the other way surrounded by their well armed protectors, we will be living behind the bars of our own homes.

If anybody knows who is legally representing the man who saved others from being victimized by Demarcus Brandon, please advise. I want to send a contribution to the mans legal defense and in lieu of the unlikely event there is none, I want to buy that man a big cowboy steak.

I agree with the creation of a board/ post that list all of Quinn's early releases that have committed more acts of violence against citizens. It can be called "Quinn Sticking-it to the Victims" list. It amazes me that every time Quinn or any other white politician gets into a jam or needs support; that they run to the south and west side reverends. Quinn and the rest of the white democratic party never goes to a catholic church (Quinn is suppose to be an acting catholic) or a synagogue looking for advice or support. P.O's could be hired back for Desk and Lockup Jobs,or, many other non-essential street positions, for less than the cost of Time and a Half for OT. . It is done successfully in many other Jurisdictions across the Country. Chicago has fallen Far behind the rest of the Country in the innovative Law Enforcement Idea area, and many other areas, for that matter.

Most important, how are the bosses????????????
Worry less about the bosses and more about the job. You don't put on a cute Mountie uniform and just ride around looking good.
Nowhere in your post did I notice your great love or respect for horses. Nowhere did I read how you grew up around them or even know how to ride one. Oooooh, sixty pound bales of hay? That's two boxes of cat litter. Get over it.
You don't just show up and find a pretty horse all saddled up and ready for you to traipse around the city on. You groom them, you maintain them, you work with them and train with them. Constantly. And, yes, unless you want YOUR horse to die, you sometimes have to stick your arm up there and free up their feces.
And you're worried about the bosses.

I thought the posts here that Kevin Graham was running for State Lodge president were just some ball busting. But Kevin will not deny that he is running now. He only smile like a moron when asked about it. What started out as a joke is now a nightmare! Can anyone see Madigan or Cullerton giving him any respect?

Kevin is 1st Vice President of the State Lodge of FOP. Ted Street, President, has lot's of support throughout the state. I doubt Kevin could beat him.

OT: Heard the mounted patrol is taking applications for new officers and I was thinking about applying. Can any officer active or retired, give me some real info regarding the day to day operations there? I'd like to know what they do on any given day and what their work schedule is like. What is the training process, and how is that scheduled? Most important, how are the bosses? I read the order but it is pretty vague, except for the details they added about lifting 50-60 lb bales of hay and caring for the horses. Any additional info would be appreciated - Thanks.

One thing you have to do is stick your hand into the horse's ass and clean it out. Not trying to be funny, not lying. Had a partner who went down there. Lasted about 3 days.

Did anyone notice the way the news tried to slant the story? News readers all were saying that it was not known who fired the first shot. What does that mean?

12/12/2013 06:24:00 AM

It means the media is trying to be real PC and give shitheads family grounds for a lawsuit. Doesn't matter, the jagoff was killed in the act of committing an armed robbery with a gun. I wouldn't give any jagoff a free shot at me. I see a gun and it is bombs away, why wait to see if asshole fires first and maybe hits you. Fuck him, gun in his hand is enough to start blasting away.

I would be very interested to know where the mounted-to-be is coming from. He smells like an office at 35th street.

Don't waste your time or their time, stay where you are. You will get thrown from the horse on the fifth day and you will fall on the ground. It will hurt. You will remember the cushy job you used to have and you will quit.

I'm not saying this to be mean, but your post tells everyone all they would ever need to know if you should do anything that would require any work or the risk of getting hurt. In fact, it is crystal clear there are very few positions on this job for you. Just keep the one you have.

I don't know but something smells in Denmark. Steve Robbins by-law change failed. But Steve refused to withdraw it even when the vote was like 398-2. Did Mark put him up to this? He's Mark's neighbor and was hand picked by Mark for be the pension board rep where he was a go alone to get a long type of guy. But who did Mark do this for himself? The Mayor?

Some just isn't right with all of this. We may never know but there something that just isn't right with all of this.

The new mounted unit is implementing reforms through a grant from the Dept. of Justice Civil Rights Unit and will phase out full size Horses in order to undo the image of crowd control that likens back to riots and the use of dogs and fire-hoses on helpless groups denied their constitutional right to assemble.

The new horses on order from Federally approved breeding ranches conform to new size regulations and don't require the rigor and training and won't be used for much more than a presence much like TMA's or crossing guards.

The horses are approved by the American Miniature Horse Registry (AMHR).
They will accompany the officer more as a distraction to large crowds and rarely ridden. The new mounted unit requirements therefore will also conform to less strict size, weight and height guidelines and the Department training literature coming out of R&D refers to female officers below 5 feet in height as optimum for purposes of equipment acquisition and is expected to have a more positive impact with regard to perception and appearance.

The mounted unit helmets will also be more like bicycle helmets and the riding boot on order is a Converse All-Star knee-high lace-up with a powder blue heel... for the parade.

If this POS was still in prison when this robbery took place, then guess what….he would have never been able to rob this place and in turn… get shot. At least the Quinn, democrat revolving door worked to our favor this time. One less LINK Card and three free meals for this POS sperm donor!

Regarding the inquiry about the mounted unit- thanks for the one real piece of info somebody posted; to the rest with your condescending bs commentaries and rants, fuck off. I can tell by your acidic tone some of you haven't gotten laid in years.

They would have to be delegates to the State Conference. With credentials and they have to stay for the whole conference. Not just voting day. You have to attend the business meetings and listen to all the crap.

One year the speaker was a guest, Retired Col. Danny McKnight, USA,

Col McKnight commanded elements of a Ranger Battalion in Mogadishu, Somalia in what became known as Blackhawk Down. Great speaker. If only our bosses on CPD were made up of people like him.

To say he has no love for Bill Clinton is a vast understatement.

Anyway, you can't just bus down to the conference and vote. Unit reps can get credentials, the FOP Board of directors. Not just anyone who shows up. If you want to go, contact FOP, probably they would get you on the credential list, they never fill up all their allotment of reps..
