Anyone know if this really occurred?
- Maniac gets on a bus with an axe in Rogers Park this afternoon. Embeds the axe in a partition behind driver and flees.
Lots of really upset people who made the connection that they are not allowed to conceal/carry on the CTA are basically defenseless in Rahm's Chicago.
Really? They're just realizing this now? What do they think is going to happen if this guy decides to take the axe to a skull to start?

That's right. This nifty sticker on the outside of every CTA bus and train will alert axe-carrying madmen that axes are NOT allowed on Rahm's mass transit. The criminally insane will see this sticker and realize immediately that Chicago is NOT about to put up with their shenanigans. Riders will be 100% safe on conveyances bearing this sticker. Rahm promises!

Ax Free Zones are a good thing, just like gun free zones. We have to start somewhere in reducing violence. Soon only the police and military will have access to axes.

It won't matter how many get killed as a result of your elected dictators deciding your 2A rights are not really yours. They are championing a cause, not anything rational. Collateral damage (mundanes being killed while defenseless) is a small price to pay for Rahman and Blumberg to see their unarmed non criminal populace dream come to fruition. They aren't going to disarm the criminals, they have figured out that they won't comply. So... This begs the question, why don't Chicagoans just arm up and tell these f'ers to F off? It appears there is no law enforcement anyway, just cops dispatched to do the paperwork after the bodies have cooled. These issues don't exist down south, any pol spouting to disarm the citizens would soon be a former politician, and ostracized by everyone, even the press if you can believe it.

Concealed carry law is flawed. Problem is the politicians led the law abiding citizens into believing that over time changes could be made to the law. Yes there will be changes made but none of them for the better. The people of Illinois are so stupid that they still believe those in power. Now that you mention it, this has been gnawing at me for a bit and its on topic, so here goes. Soldier field and UC pat down at the door. Last time I went there I was told I can't enter with my pistol off duty. Asked about lockboxes inside. Blank stare from the bust out making minimum wage. Rather than miss the start while looking for a supervisor I simply went and secured in my car (lucky thing I had a lockbox)... anyway, last couple games I went to I took CTA. Yup. Off duty cop with full police power, expected to leap into action, yet just sitting there unarmed like the rest of the victims because I can't bring my pistol into a sporting event. I'm thinking this needs to be addressed? Busses and trains are pretty much posted "unarmed victim zones"...
That sticker can't go on the side of CTA buses and trains. It looks like a crudely drawn tomahawk and therefore a racist symbol against Native-Americans!!
...and don't think about putting up a "Ban Machetes" symbol.

I don't know how to take this post, I've seen others like it here too. I'm just a citizen and CCW holder, and on one hand, I have tried to take the law seriously, meaning, I follow it. But I find that sometimes I'm leaving the gun locked in the car all day on the off chance that I might end up in one of the many downtown buildings that could give me a problem, or worrying that a new sign will pop up unexpectedly at a building that previously didn't have one.
In a similar vein, I have on occasion had to exit a building I've walked into while carrying, just to do a double-check before going in, because I realized that I hadn't really looked to see if there was a sign. These anti-gun freaks who think that everyone who carries a gun is obsessed by guns and the knowledge of carrying one...I grew up with them, and now that I've been carrying for a month, it has become almost second nature. I'm not constantly fixated on "oh, I have my gun", nor "must...check...sign...before...entering". It's become like the large box cutter I have clipped to my pocket. Just a tool that I'm comfortable carrying around...all safety concerns granted.
Anyway, it sure would be nice if the anti-gun nuts didn't force us to HAVE to fixate on this, and just let us safely and quietly go about our business without the minefield of scattered signs.

Somebody needs to put the CEO of the Alpha Girls on a bus headed out of town. Her masquerade as a security/weapons expert continues to embarrass the entire law enforcement community.
As a civilian reader whose father was able to defend himself against a burglar armed with a machete a while back, I find the restriction against carrying on the CTA particularly galling. Who does this law harm the most? Those who can't afford to drive to work every day, and who are at the mercy of the thugs who ride the "L" late at night and follow people as they get off the train to go home or to work on deserted streets.

One of the things that the anti-gunners never admit to is that there have been incidents where on-duty LEO's have been assisted by private CCW license holders.
So if you're jumped by a SH, that CCW permittee may save your life.
But if you antagonize him, he may not.

Great Point! I think the best solution is to give back to them what they want: No police. Don't attend games, don't watch games, notify advertising sponsors that you will not buy their products because of their policy, etc. Any calls for service at facilities that choose to ban police off duty (remember, you are required to carry), do not enter their facility (cite THEIR restrictions) and make them exit the facility to come out to you. After they're inconvenienced once or twice, they should get the message. Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. No point in rushing into an unknown situation anyway. Officer safety trumps their convenience, anyway. Honor and respect their own policy, to the hilt. Hey, fuck 'em if they can't take a joke, or if they realize they don't like their own stupid policy.

Very true. Always protect yourself first and foremost. You can always say you didn't see the sign. Works in traffic court as a defense all the time. But no real cop in his/her right mind is going to arrest you.
How about a sticker that says-"No Crime Allowed"
That'll prevent all crime,right?

If they can strip an NBA team owner of his franchise for "thought crime" private pillow talk with his girlfriend then this guy should be fired.
