First Smash and Grab?

Maybe someone should start a site tracking these types of crimes:
  • A Best Buy store on the North Side was burglarized during a smash-and-grab incident early Sunday morning, police said.

Around 4:45 a.m., a Dodge Caravan struck one of the windows in the Best Buy store, located in the Park West neighborhood at 2650 N. Clark St., police said.

Several male offenders got out of the car, stole an unknown number of items from the store and fled, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
SecondCitySmash'n'Grab.com. We still say a couple of pointed girders at windshield height might deter some of this behavior.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FUTURE PREDICTING COMPUTER?

or the snitch boxes?

Or the famous pattern detectives at HQ.

How about those gun sensor on the poles?

Facial recognition officers?

If you want to track crime patterns look at all the money being stolen by exempts and fake crime fighting scams.

So much video...

Over at the Lakeview crime site they're blaming Tunney because the first squad took 8 min to get there and it was from 018. Does Tunney have third job as a dispatcher? Are these goofs unaware that we cover for each other across district boundaries?

BTW, I was told thanks to Tunney's demands to MCGroomzilla, we had more recognized vacancies in 019 this year than any other district.

I personally think they should install bollards, reinforce the doors and windows, and set a few beams about driver height in the doors. BUT

The Stores won't do anything until the city or their insurance carriers ask them to do something. And if any of the darling little thugs and thieves get hurt, won't your friends at Lovey and Lovey be happy to sue the stores? Think of the big, deep pockets they could dig into!

Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown has the story too. The folks at Wieners Circle and McD had a front row seat.

First car was from another district?

And it took eight minutes?

But the CPD is not under-manned.

Saw it on WGN news. They showed a little history of the past several smash n grabs. Pretty sure they were using Dodge Caravans at several of them. They must be easy to steal.

Yes 019 had the most vacancies in the city but only because people are fleeing in droves. They need to keep up. Days has no manpower. Skeleton crew at best. What a mess 019 has become.

Dodge Caravan's are as easy to steal as the mid-eighties GM products, peel the side of the steering column with a pair of vice-grips and with your third grade edumacation off you go. Sliding door for your Homies to do drive bys or bail out of to snatch and grab, And it's just another hoopdie riding in the hood so nobody pays it any attention...... And there ya go $100,000 of overtime info for free

I personally think they should install WWII anti-tank obstructions and Claymore mines. Be aware to point the side that says "Front toward enemy" actually toward the enemy. Then we will have more protests, "I can't see, they blew my face off and all I was doin was shopping!"

Not bashing you Tom we know your pro-police how about putting together a bill to hire 1-2,000 more coppers immediately and fund the pension now that would be a huge step forward!

Thats not a crew its a joke. There were no cars available in 019 because 1st watch leaves an hour early and 2nd watch has more manpower inside than on the street. 5 tact teams and they are all gone by midnight. We cant get any time off on 3rd watch because 1st watch has more manpower than us. I have never seen a more poorly run district in my 20 yrs. The caps office is the biggest joke of all 5 hour days and they are bid for 3rd watch but all of them come in on 2nd watch hours pretty good fop rep we have that allows all of this. Overtime that is given by who you know rather than seniority. Eli please clean up your mess it is embarrassing

Hint. This sort of thing does not happen in small towns and rural areas. And if it did happen the mutts would be treated far differently. Small town and rural life is much safer and more peaceful. The only animals you are likely to find are the four legged kind.

1980 Sgt A.H. screwed up big time though by taking that bid spot on days. It's going to cost him a lot of $$$$. All that overtime he got must now be offered by seniority. If not grievances will be hitting the commanders office in record numbers. Sorry, but the greed got to A.H. this time. And he will be on the watch not working at the commanders discretion.

Are you saying there's different rules for different folks on the CPD? Favors for the ethnically connected? No way! Didn't the commander take the required yearly "ethics" test? I bet it will be business as usual and in the end no Sgt. will beef about it.

"Several male offenders got out of the car, stole an unknown number of items from the store and fled, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro."

First of all, how do you know that they were male? Second, the vast majority of males are law-abiding citizens and mentioning their gender reinforces negative stereotypes about males committing crime. There is absolutely NO REASON to mention that they were male - it is simply not relevant to the story.

If the mutts were in prison like they should be it wouldn't be happening here either. Between the prosecutors and judges, what lesson do they learn? Commit a crime, say sorry yo-honer, and walk. Why is it then a surprise they repeat again and again.

Chicago has been a one party system decade after decade with the same problems decade after decade. Coincidence?

See how this year goes with these bosses screwing up the district. Unless they replace certain bosses 019 will be up for grabs once it gets warm, cubs games, most robberies in the city. New signs to be posted in wrigleyville Use your cell phones at your own risk. We the police can not prevent it from being stolen. We are sorry
