No Descriptions....Again
- A van was driven through exterior and interior doors Tuesday morning at Abt Electronics in Glenview in an apparent crash-and-grab attempt, but no merchandise was taken and four offenders fled the scene, police said.
According to a news release from the Glenview Police Department, at 5:38 a.m. two vans, one full-size and one minivan, pulled into the Abt parking lot at 1200 Milwaukee Ave. There were four men in the two vans.
One man drove the full-size van into the building through an exterior and interior set of glass doors at the merchandise pickup area, according to the release.
Once the doors were breached, all the men ran into the store, where they were confronted by an employee. They then ran out and fled the scene in the minivan, according to the release.
A certain lack of planning, no reconnaissance, no apparent knowledge of on-site 24-hour security - we're betting a Chicago connection.

Abt has surveillance cameras at driver's eye level in their lots, cameras on the outside of the building and cameras inside the building. These guys don't know it yet, but they're toast.

Before saying this I voted for fioretti. I have no clue who or if I will vote this time. Don't think that chuy is the savior. Chuy was guess who's right hand man?? That's right, little baby Todd Stroger. Chuy wants a 15 dollar an hour minimum wage and he has sponsored in the 90s many anti police violence rally's against the cpd. He also attended several anti police rally's in the Hispanic community during the ferguson drama. He was part of Todd strogers regime and that is what threw the county into chaos. Unless you're backing up a semi and have 10 or 12 guys lifting BIG stuff, crashing in with a mini-van is not the smartest move.

Sad to say, I read 3 or 4 similar stories everyday, where the race is not mentioned. And the followup story usually has a mugshot of the person(s) or the unique name. 95% of the time... Yep.

Back in the day the Chicago intelligence unit would have scooped these guys up by now. The players would have been identified and an arrest would be immanent.
It is OK to omit descriptions of suspects when giving a description would prove racist and when the suspect is a minority.
I think ABT has cameras every 6 inches throughout that store. Obviously they are not professionals at their trade. A little planning and surveillance would have told them that there are cameras and security. The criminal element how stupid they are. I do have to thank them for keeping me employed.

I love how the media was interviewing residents and several male and female 2's repeatedly stating some version of "it's coming to our neighborhood" good! Maybe now you will realize the (probable) offenders doing this are not "gentle giants" "misguided youths" and that the "red line" doesn't run far enough to "ship them home" so can we get back to real punishment for crimes committed and stop coddling these villains that grow stronger every time you make excuses for their illegal invasions of your safety and well being. It's only a matter of time before they come breaking in your door

the newspapers now have a policy of not giving the offenders race if the description is otherwise too vague - but they still give the gender, and as a man, I am highly offender - that gender discrimination - now everyone thinks that I am the offender (because I am a man), and they are giving me dirty looks, wondering if I am the one who broke into ABT .... You have some very valid points. I voted for Fioretti myself. I do not like Rahm, but this anyone but Rahm philosophy is not the best.
Chuy is a certified moron and will not be able to make good on any of his campaign promises. He does not have a good history with the police. Rahm is anti-union and anti-labor, but he is not anti-police. I'm not saying he is a huge supporter of us, there is only one person who Rahm is for and that is himself. I'm just saying I'm not so sure I want a guy with a professional and personal (his son) history with the police in office.
Word is this is Rahm's last term if he gets elected. If Rahm gets elected we look at a relatively fresh slate of candidates in 2019. If Chuy gets elected we hope a decent candidate can unseat an incumbent Chuy.

Wow, very interesting points by both here. I was all the way in with CHUY for this election. I did some looking around on the internet and found the anti police rally crap that chuy was involved in. Also forgot and didnt think about his strong ties to the stroger clan. The strogers were his china men. They made him a high ranking member of the Black Caucus of chicago also where he attended many of these anti police rallies. Pretty much my feelings are that if chuy is elected we are going to have a stroger like mayor which is unacceptable. Put it this way... Danny Davis is all over Chuy and endorsing him to win. You know the old county board and good ole boy system will reign supreme if chuy wins. Had no clue about all of it! I think he knows he doesnt need our endorsement thats why he has not been very active in participating in union related functions.
SCC, How about an interesting/information thread on these above comments? Really opens up discussion with plenty of time before election day. Thanks!

Rahm personally told you he promises not to stay on as Mayor and you believe him? After he was forced into a runoff, his national plans evaporated. He is not going anywhere.
Sure, one of his brothers can throw him another job that pays him a boatload of money, but Rahm needs power. Rahm does not want his bother's handouts. He can be the big powerful Mayor. He is not going away.
Rahm had his chance and blew it, badly. Give Chuy a shot. It is unlikely he will work out and we can easily get him out. Who knows, he may surprise us.
We know Rahm isn't going to fund our pension. That is the Devil you know. Get rid of him now. In four more years he will have amassed his army and will be unstoppable.

Abt also carries small, valuable items like moderate high-end watches such as Ball and Rado, as well as the always-popular-theft targets that are modern smartphones.
If the burglars weren't complete idiots (I know, a fairly big 'if' in this case), those small items would likely be what they were going for.

Chuy hiring a 1000 new cops isn't being cop-friendly; it's being citizen-friendly. It's a way to safeguard people and property.
As for Rahm promising 1000 police, he never did. He never said that.
I posted here when it started and said everybody needs to listen to what Emanuel SAYS, not what you want to THINK he says. Rahm Emanuel cut his teeth writing statements and parsing words in the White House. He knows how to make you believe something when he never uttered those words.
When he said he would 'add 1000 cops to the streets of Chicago' I knew what he was saying and what he meant to do. Why weren't people paying attention? Were they dazzled by his padded resume? Were they enthralled with his millions of dollars' worth of red, white and blue signs? I don't know. But the man was shrewd and he fooled a lot of people.

Those items are nowhere close to the doors. There is no way you'd go for those items if you'd even been inside the store one time. Too far in, way past the large appliances.
High end small stuff is on the second floor. Impossible.
Rahm is waging war on the retirees, and has stated that he will reduce our pensions. Any copper that votes for Rahm, is voting against himself.
