- A Simeon Career Academy graduate who had a college football scholarship, a supportive family and a girlfriend who wanted to start a family with him threw it all away when he led Chicago police on a car chase that killed a woman in 2013, a Cook County judge said Friday.
Judge Thaddeus Wilson sentenced Timothy Jones, 22, to 28 years in prison. He must serve the entire time.
Good. About fucking time the jagoffs who flee and endanger every single member of the public get hammered with serious time. But you know who everyone is blaming?
- Reynolds' family, who thought Jones should not have been charged with murder, gave no victim-impact statements for the judge to consider.
Reynolds' best friend, Lavonia Noble-King, asked the judge to show mercy, saying police also had responsibility for the death of Reynolds, 56.
The family of the dead woman disagreed with the charging. They gave no statement. And friends of the deceased asked for mercy and blamed......the Police! The natural cynic in us will note that since he was judged responsible for the actions that killed this woman, the expected payout from the City might actually be less.
But seriously, let's just get it out there - society in general, and a specific slice of society in particular, don't want the police chasing criminals. When criminals realize they have only to evade capture for a short amount of time and the police stop chasing, what do you think is going to (and in fact IS) happening?

This blamin-the-evil-system is merely a call-and-response style mass mania. I have some great pics of people at these numerous recent "demonstrations" that I could only equate with participants in voodoo ceremonies.
They were visibly hypnotized by their overwhelming self-ness, reinforced by the rhythmic chanting -- in a trance state. So caught up and swept away in their own Their Own that -- wave a hand in front of their face, hello? No one home.

Fine, if you're appeasing spirits by walking across a bed of coals in some clearing at midnight, or making the choir loft shake in your own megachurch on Sunday. It's the implicit expectation that this nonsense be listened to all the time by everyone else, "respected," earnestly considered as though it were rational discourse, that bothers me.

Key word here being "Officer."

Read the general order on vehicle pursuits. It is written in a way to cover the city and throw you under the bus. Be smart and cover your ass. Also look out for your family.

The pendulum has swung so far to the left, its momentum is due to peak soon. It doesn't matter how many black leaders try to keep it going, it will come back fast to the right. Won't they be surprised when they get a taste of '60's policing?
I believe that there was a similar chase in LA a week or so ago in which the suspect fled, lost the coppers, then hit and killed someone. It was hours later that the police connected it all together.

Our society has been changing rapidly and in so many ways right before our eyes these last few years. I'm afraid all the older generation like my grandfather who say things like "this country is not recognizable naymore" are not just being cranky, old, and stuck in their old ways.
I'm really fearful the momentum of the change is so great that it no longer matters who our gov't leaders are any longer. Could even the right people in office help turn us in the right course? I wonder if it matters who our spiritual leaders are any more - can they stop this great shift in ideology and morality?
God help us.

SCC, its mitigation in reverse. The Reynolds family is basically saying "Fuck it, she be dead and we need to get paid". So, their attorney advises them to be sympathetic to the defendant and put as much blame on the police as possible to set the tone for the civil suit.
What can we say that hasn't been said before? The general public don't like us or want us to do our job. The sooner most officers understand this the better. We are all stressed but the sooner we accept the following the better mental/physical healthy we will attain:
1- police work we once did or knew is OVER
2- the superman cape has been put up along time ago, this is just another city job
3- main objective is to answer the job and drop paper.
4- going above and beyond is only reserved for a fellow officer and family member (and going beyond needs to evaluated depending on situation)
5- make sure you and your partner manage to make each other laugh once during the tour
6- everything else , utilize the hands off approach. Screw everyone else. This is the police the public wants, give it to them.
7- ask God for wisdom and patience. As good as this job is it is not worth getting sick over it

Freddie Grey was an innocent man kidnapped and murdered by the police. There are more police in African American community than white communities oppressing the people and keeping them down. (opinions expressed by protestors in Baltimore) The solution would be to pull out of the community and they they can only blame themselves.

When faced with the truth, these professional victims still refuse to hear it, act on it, believe it.
Officer Wilson was proven right in his actions by the evidence, yet the Ferguson rioters would not hear it.
As more information comes out on Baltimore, the rioters are refusing to hear or accept it.
If you're intractable in your mindset, you aren't going to hear anything but what you WANT to hear. And you'll twist what you DO hear to fit your agenda.
