- Inside the hotel’s lobby, police officers blocked off the area leading to the south tower of the building with yellow crime tape, tying one end to a hand-sanitizing stand near the front door.
Shattered glass peppered the floor near a set of elevators inside the crime scene. Several potted plants lay on their sides. Some chairs were tipped over. A bottle of Patron and a bottle of vodka lay empty.
Taylor's body lay in view of the windows on the south side of the hotel.
Police found at least a half-dozen shell casings and one live round at the scene.
About an hour after Taylor was shot, his mother showed up at the hotel, saw her son’s body through the window and walked inside the lobby, pleading with the officers to let her see him.
“Please, let me see my son,” the woman yelled as she stood near the yellow crime tape. “How did this happen? Here? This ain’t Englewood!”

- This incident's video needs to be released. It's a straight up execution with the victim on the ground. Clear as a movie too, the hotel has a premium security surveillance system.

Believe me , if policeman shot that guy it would be the world's most recognizable video . But then , police haven't shot anyone this year . Well over 200 shot and 34 killed this month so far and not one by a cop. What could possibly be the problem in this city ? It sure as shit isn't the police !

Well, considering we are seen and treated like second class citizens this does not suprise me... For once the public is right, when it comes to police officers the public and politicians forget that police officers are granted the same protections from the constitution than every other American citizen... Just because we are the police doesn't mean that we lose protections that the constitution grants every other American citizen.. This country is doomed. 250+ shot in 23 days. Almost 40 murders in 23 days, 5 pending death investigations and 4 shooting victims in hospitals who are on respirators in comas who may or may not live... I am an officer with 12 years on. I have about 2000 arrests and consider myself an active police officer who does a good job. In all those arrests I have gained 1 citizen complaint... Yes, one... That's it. 12 years, 2000 arrests and lord knows how many other interactions with community members, victims, suspects, witnesses, offenders yada,yada,yada and one person has complained about me. Now trust me I am not trying to pat myself on the back, make myself look like a star etc... I do have a point. The point is that I am done. I consider myself, like hundreds or even thousands of other police officers in Chicago who go to work everyday and work hard and don't do what the media and reverends claim we "always" do are done working. We are not going to arrest gang members anymore.. We are not going to arrest dope dealers.. We are not going to stop them, we are not going to disperse them from corners, drug spots and away from churches and schools. We are done. We are not going after guys with warrants, recovering guns or going that extra mile to find out who that robbery offender is. Yes as the new saying goes we are staying fetal... We are not doing anything. I'm sorry citizens, but unfortunately you will have to fend for yourselves. It truly does pain me to say that. I took this job for the right reasons, I can no longer effectively help the community in any way. Let sharpton, Jackson, loevy and loevy and the people's law office help you all... By the way, they are all multi millionaires who don't live in impoverished high crime areas.. They just use you as pawns for their own agenda and for a nice pay day. Good luck all. We will not work. Nobody will make us work and today you have lost a good police officer and a lot of good police officers. Spring and summer will be brutal. Good luck and to the citizens who are caught in the middle of it all, I am sorry, I really really am. It makes me very sad and down to think about it. Found this post in another thread. WOW is all I can say. I will say to this officer that you infact, did hit the nail on the head. There are plenty of great coppers on this job. Some who have impeccable records and are actually a value to the department and the community. These officers along with the post above are the kind of people who the community wants and needs... Well, to the community and media trolling this website here you see it. Even the good and great ones. The ones who really do this job and do it right without all the CR numbers and complaints you talk about on TV are putting a stop to working. Guys like this were you front line of defense. there are plenty of officers who love this city, love the community and see the good in the community like this guy. They have lost the will to help/fight/protect and work for the good people in the neighborhoods. God help our city and the good citizens.

Rahm wants a Taxpayer paid Basketball haven to be constructed there too...for DePaul, a private, expensive university with tons of alumnae and tons of donated dollars....he could care less if the 'pioneers' of the area and historic district sell their properties (now at a loss) cause...its not bad enough that the smell from Soldier Field after concert-goers fill the air with weed and big music, but now Englewood has come to the Hyatt and the new hood...it will further be teeming with Englewoodians after the dumb DePaul Basketball Stadium is built. GO RAHM...You are a disaster!!!! Just like the stupid 'Fire in the Lake' project for 2 seasons...you were begged and ridiculed to not approve that pending fiasco...but you went ahead anyway...fool us once...you were fooled twice....finally, Redmoon went bust. I counted six homeless guys asking for money. One was selling Streetwise.
Now that the police are told to not stop anyone all of the above will get worse. Shootings at The W Hotel, Hyatt Hotel, Congress Hotel and robberies in Chicago's prime neighborhoods. I work in 018. I don't know why but about six years ago more and more ghetto criminals from the west and then the south side started coming to the 018th district. Every year since we have had more and more issues and has increased year over year. It should be interesting how this plays out this year as we go into Spring and then Summer and Fall. All of these hotel shootings is related to ghetto nonsense. They come to downtown, rent out a couple of rooms, blast loud music, threaten other customers, smoke weed, do other drugs, get drunk and then fight and can't control themselves so they shoot each other. So far we have had shootings at three different downtown hotels. Disturbances at numerous hotels. No one is stopping anyone and most of the officers are just responding to their jobs. The fear in officer's hearts and minds is that if a stop goes bad then they will be out of a job and into an orange jump suit. The city and department wants us to do every single thing by the book. Ok that is fine.
The Englewoods hasn't been the same since the capture and execution of H.H. Holmes.

(OT) A little rant on: The chicago sun-times again is sensationalizing nothing! yesterday the academy nonsense now today splashing a coppers face and his car all over the cover! then reading johnny's comments (way to go johnny nice way to boost morale), saying he is directing iad and others to look into this copper who did nothing wrong! The article states no vehicles can have "oscillating or flashing lights" but drive near any construction project cars trucks flashing lights everywhere. why do highway state tow trucks have full police emergency equipment are they police? Does this mean that coppers that have restored squad cars cannot drive them to parades?events?

Her father was interviewed live on tv, telling the cameras she was taking classes online to complete her degree. Doesn't sound like she was a CPS student. Sounds more like she was studying for her GED.

Let's revisit residency for just a minute. So if my white teenager son testes for Northside Prep and tests well enough to get in but more black and brown children are given his seat before him and his alternative CPS school is Taft. So 1. Have to live in the city 2. Can't get into the selective enrollment schools because we are not considered "minorities" 3. Have to send child to far less superior CPS high school because of residency. Now sure there are private high schools but with three or four kids who can afford the $10k plus tuition on a single income household. So who exactly is being discriminated against?
I bring this up because the latest complainant of the activist are that there are not enough jobs for black youth so they end up shooting each other. "Can't get shot when you're at work." Just when you thought you heard it all.
Its really sad to see and read all the comments about police on social media. I wish people could understand that websites, newspapers and news stations benefit from viewership. They arent going to make money by publishing stories about a new store opening, or a kitten getting rescued from a tree (OK, maybe reddit would...), but put a "story" up about a police officer and the public rage is deafening.
