And a special congratulations to the 011th District for ending up at the top of the homicide count for 2015 - forty-eight victims met their demise in Harrison (no one else hit 40), and that's not even counting death investigations. They were about 10 homicides ahead of Englewood.
And at the close of business for 01 January, 2016, the tally for the year already stands at 2 dead and 17 wounded. If Chicago can maintain that pace, we'll end the year at 732 homicides and 6,222 maimings.
UPDATE: Spoke too soon - a third homicide for 01 January. Pro-rating that out for the year, expect 1,098 at the close of 2016.

Chicago police officers shot 22 people in 2015, eight of them fatally. That's a 40 percent drop in the total number of people shot compared with 2014, when 37 people were hit by police gunfire and 16 of them were killed, according to department figures.
Since 2011, the number of people shot by Chicago's cops has gradually declined. That year, they shot 56 people, 24 of them fatally, department figures show. In 2012, Chicago police shot 45 people, killing 12, and the following year, officers shot 35 people, killing 14.

In 2009, the 002nd District had one of its own residents receive the Nobel Prize. This Nobel Peace Prize winner ascended to the White House without any accomplishment outside of his sponsored Traffic Statistical Studies which academically interpreted numerical propaganda made possible with its accompanying state grant money. This Nobel Prize winner dreamed of greater involvement of the United Nations and international institutions with a goal of international diplomacy and HOPE for a better future for everybody outside his home town. In the prize winner's own words he was so concerned about mankind outside of the murder accomplished 002nd District he is quoted as saying, " Now is the time for us to take responsibility for a global response to global challenges."
So much for those constituents who believed in him because of his obvious genetic appearance and HOPE that their plight in the crime ridden neighborhood with all its poverty and despair will CHANGE. Instead he is most concerned for global concerns. Too bad he channel his efforts to clean up his hood and put his obsession aside of his made up legacy.
Maybe is time for the Nobel Laureate to take responsibility for his community and get those criminal street gangs to form a globally recognized United Nations approved peace agreement. Bring back that "United in Peace" campaign with buttons with clenched fists in the center and recognized all inclusive gang symbolism around the edge of this button in an international campaign for peace in our global city.
Maybe he can include like a shoe tribute of all those killed in the 002nd District with pictures of the victims in their cap and gowns in the soon to be library in the affluent U of C community. This would bring awareness to the failure to adequately fund mandated public policy efforts addressing the south side murder problem. "... If we even save one life you can saving the whole world" according to defeated democrat politician Pat Quinn. Now if we just find alternatives to incarceration for those convicted of murder in Illinois.

did anybody else notice the extreme irony and humor yet that the years first death is named Deandre Holiday.
11 may have won in homicides , but the good ol boys in Englewood won out in total shootings and homicides together for the year.
The entire CPD was the first homicide victim. The de-escalante use of farce model, the ISRs , the police getting thrown under the bus, the ASA, the mayor, BLM, body cameras, CALEA etcetera etcetera
