I attended a CAPS meeting off duty with my neighbors regarding an issue. The Sergeant knew I was also a Sergeant and that I was there because the district and beat officers knew of this problem but did nothing, he was not happy and I say and listened ad my neighbors voiced thier concerns. Attending these meetings are your choices but CAPS IS A JOKE. COPS HATE TO BE TOLD THAT THEY ARE NOT DOING THIER JOB, JUST LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED IN THE 3RD DISTRICT DESK.

Good thing you're "professional" realtors. I wouldn't trust the word of just a regular realtor. As a professional realtor and a P.O., you should know that this "isolated incident" is just the beginning. If/when more things like this happen in the "nice areas," people will begin to move out. They won't wait for top dollar, and they won't care who they sell to. Then the neighborhood starts to change, as more and more good people move out and property values sink lower and lower.
Since you're a realtor, you wouldn't be biased at all, right? I mean, what interest could you possibly have in pretending a neighborhood is just as safe as it once was? What do you have to gain from saying property values are booming? Oh... commission! Lol!

Couldn't agree more. Retired, live near Indian Road Park a few blocks from Devon and Milwaukee. Three homes within 2 blocks sold for 495K, 535K and 525K and one was to CPD po. He's going nowhere

Beats 1611 and 1612 have been downed almost every day for the last month. In addition, one beat car is detailed to 020 for their bullshit LSD mission. No wagon (unless a beat car is using it on the down low), and no traffic car, for several months.
Usually 2 additional beat cars are downed as well.
Never more than 2 sector Sgts working, and often cars are given early ducks (early as in 0200).
Long story short, the brass in 016 DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT!
Check the arrest numbers, you'll find 2 guys on Tact, and the (usually) traffic guy on midnights, are responsible for just under 50% of the districts arrests. Everyone else is retired on duty.
Professional Realtor? Is there any other kind? Like the difference between danger and grave danger? Ps. My brother in law is a professional plumber.

Hahaha. Professional realtor? I haven't met one yet. Edgebrook is sandwiched between to escape routes, the Kennedy and Edens expressways, and its residents have been increasingly victimized by burglary and violent crime for several years. And I mean westside crime and criminals. After being on the market-sometimes for years-the homes seek for 85% of asking price unless a professional realtor convinces his uninformed seller to price low. By contrast Edison Park is sequestered further north and has far less crime if any at all. The ball less exempts and politicians in Edgebrook will never rock the boat and complain about lack of police protection since doing so might compromise their spot. Good luck in Edgebrook. Maybe professional realtors can convince the city to create barriers and cul de sacs like Oak Park did in their failed attempt to stop the inevitable.

Just got back from downtown yesterday, I had forgotten how seriously dangerous it is. My old school antenna could not keep up with all the danger signals. "WTF am I doing here!" I'm not the faint of heart either. The only engaged people are the criminals all over downtown. It is the exodus of low income and airport noise. Look at Morton Grove, Niles even Park Ridge.
Values are declining.
15K+ listings in Chicago on zillow. There are houses listed RIGHT NOW with MORE square footage at a LOWER price than what my parents had to pay in the Orlando, Florida area in 1980. Okay, Orlando was booming back when I was in 8th grade, but the house was 1100 square feet for about $65K in 1980, and there are south side listings with 1300 square feet listed as low as $50K. Typing a price bracket of $50-70K gave me 19 pages of listings. So what does this suggest? Quite a few auctions and foreclosures are on the chopping block, and just looking at some of the addresses tells me the odds of survival are about on par with Gloria Steinem in Tehran. People are pulling the ejector seat handle, hoping they land "anywhere but here."
The redline has opened the door to alot of shitheads. They come up north and cause mayhem. If the police stop them the liberals start complaining until they get robbed by the thugs!!!!
I live three houses down from this latest armed robbery. Let me tell you, you bet we are complaining. We are pissed off. I brought one of my guns home this weekend. I never thought I needed it in Edgebrook but since these honor students have discovered our little enclave, I want one in the house. We have been complaining for years about the reallocation of cops. We KNEW the criminals would come to us. No, we are not happy with how the democratic machine has treated our neighborhood but honestly Rahm was the better choice over that socialist Chuy. Frightening.

Obviously this was extremely disturbing, and we have inundated the Napolitano's office with calls. They told us to call 911 when we notice something out of place. Normally we wouldn't do that because it may not be an emergency & wouldn't want to tie up the police with non-emergency matters. However, we were told CPD coverage is made partly on 911 calls from an area. So guess what... Edgebrook residents will be calling 911 a lot more. We want the CPD back!
We DO support the CPD in my neighborhood. Please do not ever think Edgebrook does not. We would welcome the cops back to our streets. We know they are in Harrison, Englewood, Lawndale, etc and would love for them to be reassigned. If we saw a patrol stopping a vehicle of honor students, many of us would be happy or at least OK about it. Because frankly, we know they don't live there & are likely there to scope some place out or commit a crime. Sorry. That's reality. We know they are exports from the west side. We know who our neighbors are. Like, most of us personally know each other. It still has a very small town feel.
