We aren't sure if this proves "merit" is transmitted via DNA, but it just might be. The Johnson twins, Kevin and Kenneth, have been recipients of multiple bites at the "merit" apple. Now, one is in charge of 007 and the other of 011.
These are also the two districts that are leading the homicide race with about 60 killings each. No other District is even at 50. The districts have traded the lead on and off all summer, and after this weekend, are pretty much tied.
This also leads us to an observation. The sweep on the west side last week gathered nearly 80 individuals with those "high" SSL scores. Coincidentally or not, the west side has been quieter this weekend than in previous ones. The south side did not have a sweep, and when we checked HeyJackass.com, Englewood had 5 homicides along with 4 or 5 wounded this weekend.

I find it hard to believe that out of all the officers on this department that twins were that much more qualified than every other cop on this job for merit Sgt then merit Lt then commander. Classic. Happened at the end of her tour. Nevermind midnights had only one field Sgt and one at the desk. That's ok I guess but god forbid you don't follow every rule to the letter.
Lead by example: 009 had all the big bosses and outside units last night: Car 4, Car 41, 700, inspector, SORT, helicopter, canine, saturation and so on. Only one missing? 900. The Capt had to call him in to make an appearance. Do he shows up in jogging clothes and drives around with the tact Lt for an hour and complains why are all the cars down. Great leadership.

Every supe has done it. No matter how you tip the scale, both Johnson's will retire with atleast commander's pay..and how detrimental is that? Something wrong with your computer? I'm sure any search of Chicago police district maps will give you the answer you need. Stop being a lazy civilian.
I recall two brothers who could not get promoted and who actually got into a lot of problems, until the rigged lieutenant's exam of 1987, then both were promoted and both knew the magic words, " notify the watch commander" and " use a pencil". Then both were promoted to captain by Uncle Terry and both went to really nice quiet districts. Nice Beverly boys with strong ties to the then sheriff. Who knew? Politics often runs in families. It is a shame but it is the reality of this town> it kills morale and makes people cynical. But, actually no one outside the department actually cares about the everyday dog ass copper. Will the US Justice Dept. actually look into these things? I seriously doubt it. All they are concerned with is having enough minorities on the job and in leadership positions and making sure you do not slap someone who just spits in your face or shoots at you. Let the killing continue.

Cmdr of 009 is a stroke. Recently the 2nd watch Lt retired. A guy who is smart and cares about police and the citizens. The kind of guy who could never get a "merit" promotion. Cmdr is a no show at the modest cake and coffee held in the district. What a classless stooge.

The above is an example why some people have a negative view of police officers in general.
A good citizen asked a simple question. Then an officer replied by saying just do a Google search.
What is the point of making such a snide remark? I am certain that the good citizen probably tried looking and could not find it. So I did some perusing and I know that our own website used to have a map of the district and the beats but now they do not. After a bit more inquiry, I found the following information. So here you go my good citizen friend. Remember, some of us who wear the blue will always go the extra mile to help out people, but some won't.

Uhm, no. Not even close, unless by "trust" you mean trust to reflect the community and not leadership skills appropriate for a police department.
The only districts that historically have been entrusted to competent people were 001 and 018, and even that's not so true any more since there aren't really any good police bosses left anymore in Chicago.

My experience of almost 30 years however, tells me that when we put asshole away, shortly thereafter other assholes start fighting over who is going to take the place of the asshole who just went away. Don't kid yourselves! The Capt wasn't there all weekend either. He came in for Holiday Pay, when Capts are suppose to be off on Sun
Mon & switched the rest of the days so he could be off Fri Sat & Suday, the busiest weekend of the year. He wants to call the Commander out so he can replace him. He is just as bad as the 2 year wonder sgts we have, the cheating its., the kiss ass Capts/Commander wanna bes & the clouted Commander Staff of this Dept. Oh & yes they'll all tell you how hard they work, but where the hell are they on weekends & midnights when all the action is taking place? So wonder they can retire with thousands of hours on the books! Thieves all of them!!!
Not to mention the cush units they both spent many a year in. One more than the other, walks around with his briefcase and blackberry so everyone thinks he is someone. Tact Lt in 020 and blames "his people" for him showing up to a training session in the wrong attire. Supposed to be in uniform and he comes in jeans and his stylish turtleneck, and was 30 minutes late to boot. But the gene pool must be strong and the intelligence quotient incredible; in addition to prolific, because these two goofs have had everything they've done handed to them. Everything! But they're a couple more who think they have earned their way to their gift spots. Thankfully their strong political and religious connections are still able to make them fraudulently look like they belong. Time will prove their abilities, but then it will be too late. Damage done and the apple now rotten, but still worthy of another bite.

The Hoboes quieted down some in the 10th and 11th because they are afraid the police in those districts are starting to catch on to them. The cowards are on Lawndale Christian Fitness Center hard. The center had 5 robberies in one day, for an example. One purse snatching inside the fitness center, robber caught by the police. One attempted bike theft, the robber caught by the police and three other robberies, all of the robbers were caught by the police. These punks gave been robbing like this for years and used to burglarize my job on South Kostner, three burglaries in one week, however, no one was ever caught and the owners were forced to pay them off to stop the robberies until the punks told them to get out of the city and they moved to Skokie along with the other businesses. If the cops had caught them then, Chicago would not be so broke now!

Reads like a lot of hate/jealousy here in the blog...the twins have the two WORST districts in the city for their respective commands....and you guys act like they've received some kind of gift? Get over yourselves. They are destined to be in their respective commands for years, and it will surely age them quickly. One of the twins has a health condition that is particularly affected by stress. I cannot imagine why he would accept his command knowing what it's going to do to his health, but it's his life. The only reason the "holiday raid" occurred in 011 is because it's the worst area of the city right now in terms of homicides. Hopefully, every hot district will be conducting those kinds of raids soon. It may be the only thing the dept. can actively do to keep the shootings and murders down for the foreseeable future.

When the desk sergeant writes her report she should indicate that she saw the lieutenant with hair past her shoulders and thought it was OK and was following her example. Lets see how that goes.

Why the anger and insulting tone at the non police officer asking about a district map. It seems to me the "real police" would want as much civilian support as possible.

This isn't the first time siblings we're promoted. It's been going on for many years. Someone must've grown tired of seeing last names ending in (-ski) on the promotional list. 007 and 011 are critic districts. I'm guessing the supe has to put people in 007 and 011 that he can trust. Every supe has done it. No matter how you tip the scale, both Johnson's will retire with atleast commander's pay..and how detrimental is that? The next time you see them, do what you always do bow your heads and say "Good morning Boss."

Don't know Kenny but I've heard some stories about his management style but Kevin Johnson in 11the District is a complete MORAN. Kevin should get an academy award cause he plays dumb when he don't want to deal with an issue. Eddie you need to keep him away from you because he will throw you under 10 CTA Buses and act like nothing ever happened.
So glad he's gone and now he will only fuck up moral in 007 like he did 005. Stay out of his way, because he will stab you in the back with a needle or anything that he can use to slowly make your life miserable. Not to mention how he fucked up as a PO in 007. I recall contacting the old gang unit about needed information on gangs in my district. They were not interested in helping at all. The response that I got is come to our office in Area one and you can go through the files. No one here has time to talk to you.

The commander of 009 is a good guy and solid boss to work for . The problem is with some of the PO's in 009 ....never heard a working po in Msf 022 or 009 say anything bad about him.
They did the "sweep" but forgot to mop!

And that isn't even mentioning the "merit by injection" husband to wife with same last names, husband to wife with different last names, girlfriends, boyfriends, side-pieces, etc
