Bosses v Bosses - CAGE MATCH!

Remember, a boatload of exempts signed off on the Laquan McDonald shooting being justified: (WARNING: Tribune link - you might have to de-activate ad blocker software to read it)
  • Days after Chicago police Officer Jason Van Dyke shot Laquan McDonald 16 times, top brass watched a video of the fatal shooting at a meeting in which "everyone agreed" the shooting was justified, a lieutenant who attended the meeting said in sworn testimony.

Newly obtained documents of the city's Office of Inspector General investigation into the fatal shooting show that the department, from beat cops to command-level officials, quickly came to Van Dyke's defense, even after viewing dashboard camera video at the scene that contradicted officers' accounts. Command-level officers raised few concerns and signed off on their reports, the inspector general's investigation found.

"There was never no question whether the shooting was justified," Lt. Osvaldo Valdez told investigators with the city's Office of Inspector General about the meeting of the top brass. "Everyone agreed that Officer Van Dyke used the force necessary to eliminate the threat, and that's pretty much it."

Among those who huddled at police headquarters for the meeting, about 10 days after the shooting in October 2014, was then-Deputy Chief Eddie Johnson, who was promoted to superintendent after Garry McCarthy was fired in the fallout of the video's release.
We pointed this out this past August when we tried to remember what the Chain of Command would have been following a police shooting. We didn't include Rahm, though we have it from numerous sources that he watched the video within days and raised no objections.

Amazingly, many of the top brass were allowed to retire with their pensions intact. Other high ranking white shirts retired and are currently ignoring or rejecting contact with the Inspector General because they aren't city employees any more. A sergeant is facing termination for following McNaughton's order to approve a report and numerous other officers/detectives are facing discipline, termination and prison time.

But the blue shirts are to blame for some sort of "code of silence" while unqualified "merit" hacks and test cheaters are covering each others asses left, right, center.

Like it or not the bosses did what good bosses are supposed to and that's try to protect the officer who was clearly wrong in this situation. This never went away after the judge ruled that the city must release the video. And we all know what happened next.

WHOOOOOO!

As Gomer Pyle often said:
"SURPRIIIIISE! SURPRISE! SURPRISE!"

Instead of Sgt. Vince Carter standing there
looking like he just shit himself, It's
EVERY CLOUTED GOLD-STAR in proximiity
of the JVD/LMcD video.

You bunch of gum-bumping gumps don't know
WHICH fucking way to turn from this damned
thing as it sinks it's broken mirror glass
teeth into your fat, dumb asses...

Which one is it, you bunch of fucking
stumble-bums?

Will you clowns own up to a monumental
failure to train while acceding to
running CPD on the cheap while monies
for training have been diverted by the
mayor and McGate-Mouth?

Actual hands-on training IS
PERISHABLE if not continuously
refreshed.

Ticking off a box next to a
Policeman's name on a streaming video
print-out DOES NOT constitute "training."

Our informal gathering of subject matter
experts emeriti were of the consensus
that what the JVD/LMcD event centered
around a failure by the Department to
maintain ongoing training.

So Rahm needs to answer pointy questions
about the over $1 Billion he's shaved
away from CPD since he's been in office?

McGate-Mouth and Rahm ARE
personably liable and culpable.

Are you exempts content with letting those
young Policemen stand on the gallows
to swing when you know your asses
should be standing right next to
them with nooses on YOUR STINKING NECKS?

Nevermind...
We'll all be content to see you bastards
and your clout cannibalizing each other.

Heh...

It's been reported that the Vice President-Elect
has an uncle who was a retired Chicago Policeman.

We sincerely hope THIS uncle/nephew relationship
bodes MUCH BETTER for CPD than the one reported
between Rahm and his allegedly "beloved" uncle,
and that the incoming administration REALLY DOES
have big plans for the restoration of law, order
and REAL crime-fighting in this town.

We hope that restoration centers
on breaking the teeth of corrosive outsider
identity politics/grievance mongering/meddling
in CPD being blatantly mischaracterized as
oversight and accountability.

I love it.

They just laid the perfect legal defense for all involved.
At the time of incident plenty of supervisors viewed and found nothing wrong with actions of officers.

Now one year later the same supervisors find fault with what they viewed on the same video.

Therfore if the officers and sergeants are charged with misconduct. The command supervisors would also be accountable for not taking actions regarding the misconduct.

Double edged sword cuts in both directions.

Even if retired they should be brought in to stand charges. Or face removal of pension.

First of all, Ozzie Valdez is a moron. Second, the so-called review was done at the morning meeting following the shooting. It is NOT for the purpose of determining whether it was justified or not, but simply to review the incident for the Supt and the Chiefs. It's conducted by the street deputy. Nobody is asked if they think a shooting is justified. Usually there's no comments at all, sometimes there'll be a question about tactics. Third, Ozzie Valdez is a moron and how the fuck he has an important job is beyond me.

The shooting was justified.

A man threading with a deadly weapon, refusing orders to relinquish the deadly weapon, is a legal justification to use force necessary to eliminate the threat.

Had nothing been done, and LQMcD stabbed an killed an innocent person, there would be outrage.

The law is the law.

The charges were brought to appease the outcry.

Change the law..... do not punish the law enforcers.

Let Tony W is/was an asset to the CPD. He is sorely missed.
Sgt. DG should be s Lt class, another great loss for CPD
Det DM, as peculiar as he is/was....he was very dedicated and thorough in his investigations.
Sgt SF. Very good supervisor who got stuck on the rails by upper management. Sup should end this nonsense now, and reinstate all involved.

At that meeting......it was agreed that force used was justified by law. That simple. SCC....don't twist that part. Clearify what was said.

This has been speculated for well over a year, and Rahm's Media refused to investigate, because it didn't "Fit" the Code of Silence, and Racist Blue Shirt scenario. As I have said before on this blog and will say again: "The day after the shooting, Jersey Shores called a meeting of Command Staff and they ALL saw the video! The State's Attorney, the Liaison from the Mayor to the Police, who I believe at that time was a Deputy Mayor; they all saw it and nobody felt Van Dyke should be arrested, indicted, perp walked, etc. Because, everyone knew that the video was political dynamite." So now, long after the incident, Sgt. Franko is about to be indicted, the Blue Shirts are about to be fired, Van Dyke awaits trial; while every Exempt who was in that Command Staff room and saw that video was allowed to retire with a six-figure pension, or continue with their careers, including one actually being promoted to Superintendent! Anyone who does, anything, and I mean anything, beyond answering a radio call is a Chump! To further blame cops for everything that goes wrong, they are teaching recruits about the Holocaust; ignoring the fact that Politicians and lawyers Killed the Jews. Lawyers not cops wrote Hitler's laws; are they teaching the Holocaust at law schools? Hitler, Stalin, Castro, (He was a lawyer); none of them were cops.Yet, on the other hand I can see how some cops allow themselves to be manipulated and used by the Politicians. Any Chicago Cop who is out there being proactive is as dumb as a Nazi following orders for Hitler. An Impeachment Process must be sought. I know some of you reading this have the power to develop this process. The citizens of this City desperately need the creation of an Impeachment Process to rid ourselves of Vermin like Rahm. Dave March is arguably one of the smartest detectives on the Chicago Police Department and the reason he and a few others dicks like him handle police shootings. But Dave, much like me, is not part of the Irish mafia and was hung out to dry unlike Roy and McNaughton. Dave was ordered, or advised to insert "lunge"into the narrative by merit superiors and now a federal grand jury is zeroing in on him and other honest policemen over this justifiable shooting over a single word-lunge. Unlike Osvaldo the double merit buffoon Dave made detective on his own score, as did I. If anything was odd about the dicks supp' it was use of the word lunge to characterize what dogass McDonald was doing at the precise moment he was given his just reward by Van Dyke. I would have described it as "circling in" from a lethal distance of twelve feet. But I didn't review or approve the supp. If I had we would all be indicted for bad breath, or sabbath breaking or something else to mollify the black lynch mobs. Maybe, maybe not. But I guarantee the narrative would have been worded different. That being said this was a justifiable shooting and I feel the incoming Attorney General will be told by Trump to take the bullseye from the backs of our nations policemen. God bless all involved, even McNaughton.

Yes, if you follow an order to leave something in or out of a report or to change a report and things go bad, the department will come down on you. They won't give any merit to the fact that you followed an order from a superior officer. If you don't follow the order then the department will also come after you, subtlety for sure,or maybe overtly, but they will hurt you in some way. Outsiders always use the old nazi defense, " I was following orders" so they can make you look bad. But,but this is not a case in wartime, this is an employment situation and is not comparable. Your job and livelihood is always on the line. The fact that Johnson was at this meeting days after the incident, saw the video and now he is the superintendent and is trying to fire officers , is just plain wrong and he is a lying hypocrite.Johnson should be made to justify this, publicly.

Napoleon is often attributed as stating, “Gentlemen, there are no bad soldiers, only bad [leaders]."

Present day CPD is proof of this. The existence of individual good white shirts aside, the collective quality of the department's leadership is toxic.

Remember, the command climate of an organization such as the police or military is set by its leaders.

Oh this is just the beginning of your headaches. Pretty soon we will be looking at all the I'll gained money that many of you have overseas in places like the Cayman Islands. Lying on reports and baffoons running CPD will be the last of your worries. Just ask the Johnsons.

Unrelated but related, what is Steve Georgous doing working at Navy Pier McCormack Place? The MPEA operates the pier and McCormack, so how is he working for the city and the MPEA at the same time?

12/24/2016 09:09:00 AM

Great questIon for the media to ask Rahm, but they won't because they fear him. This story has legs!

If anything this shows all the salty "bosses dont have your back" crowd that the bosses did back us. All the way to the top. Mcarthy didnt even want to strip Van Dyke. They all said this was a good shoot which it was.

12/24/2016 06:57:00 AM

Not quite you stupid fuck. They all kept quiet and PRETENDED to "have our backs" so it didn't interfere with Rahms run at reelection. Once Tiny Dancers second term was secure it was "under the bus ya go"! to the expendables.

Duffin is NOT a double merit. He was Sgt off the list. Was a Sgt for years and made merit Lt. Hard working, smart, great copper. Well liked and respected wherever he's worked.

Before you go attacking merit....remember Duffin is a double......good dude, But a double merit. Proves that not all smart people are good test takers.

Valdez does a fine job...nothing special...but does his job.

12/24/2016 07:49:00 PM

Duffin made sergeant in the April, 1996 class. There were no "merits" in that class, hence the lawsuit that kept them in the academy for three months. So how could he be a "double" merit? There is actually an explanation as to his merit appointment to lieutenant, but I'm not going to argue that point on here. I'm happy to have worked for him and I wish I still did.

Deputy Chief S.G. will soon be receiving a position with NFL security. That was one of the reasons he assigned city bomb dogs to the football games @ soldier field when he was in charge of special functions.

12/24/2016 07:30:00 PM

Deputy Steve Gorgeous also used the SWAT team by assigning SWAT Officers to work "under cover" at Wrigley, Cellular Field, United Center and Solider Field. The only reason he did that was to boost his resume and win favors with the NFL and NBA. Two SWAT guys assigned to these events? Talk about a scam. And these SWAT hacks are working on their days off doing nothing but banking over 200 hours in OT a period.

Feds you listening? The only reason K9 and SWAT are working these games was Deputy Gorgeous wants a job. The Chicago scam always alive and well.

Would any of you have a life saving surgery if the hospital told you your surgeon was merit promoted 2 or 3 times?

The thought that any one is promoted in this manner is ridiculous.
And the laugh start when someone types in after a merit statement he is a "nice guy".

Start reading laws, start reading that contract and learn what you can and can't do.
Many of you can on a regular basis just can't grasp what that people HATE YOU and will come after you in a heart beat.

WAKE UP be FETAl!

It sounds like the merrit promotion system has been abused to the point of being extremely destructive to the entire department. In order to stop the intense bleeding, this system needs to be fixed or flushed. After that, you can work on righting the ship.

...what is Steve Georgous doing working at Navy Pier McCormack Place...

THAT explains why he was moved from Special Functions to newly made up Deputy Chief of Detached Services......he put in place the inappropriate use of CPD resources for Navy Pier/Mc Corm events (on site--and in support investigative roles)---a perk other large venues do not get.....and they move him (same pay grade) so its not so blatant---of course the move was likely at his request since the Supe is a fool----
Does he still get a say in the creation of all the event orders--like he has for years.

SG is assigned to Detached Services. The Mayor wants SG to manageMcPier/McCormick place. SG is going to retire from the city and get another job at McPier making 6 figures. The Mayor respects SG and values his knoledge. SG would be Superintendent but he's an M/2. Rham wanted SG at Detached Services you dummies.

SG is one of 3 people at CPD who have a security clearance with the Feds. The Feds like him and so does the Mayor. The assignments of swat/ K9 was the request of the Feds due to concerns. Federal money pays for part of swat/k9 overtime.

Everyone seems to be making the shot 16 times the focus of this investigation.

In my mind I think the question should be "Was he justified in shooting him once."

12/24/2016 07:56:00 AM

I can only deduce from the information I have seen on the shooting. I would say yes. Yes he was justified in shooting a deranged, drug crazed armed offender who had already proved himself a danger to the community.

Had this happened outside my block and he was heading towards my family's home, I would have had issues with the officer had he not stopped him.

Ummm...it really was not. It was actually a horrible shoot. I have no idea how the guys who think it was a good shoot even got to that conclusion. There is no training in the last several years I know of that would have justified the way that went down.

Ummm...mr shooting expert would you care to enlighten us with your expertise or are you saving it for the trial where you can be hired by news shows to be paid to display your total ignorance and bullshit theories? Let us know how it should be done. Maybe all the other Coppers that stayed in their cars like scarred little school girls would like to know what they should have done if they ever get some balls.
I wasn't there and I, like you, should just shut the fuck up!

"Lawful But Awful"
does not make for a horrible shoot...

Is there anyone with enough real world nuance
to see the shades of gray in this situation?

Rahm keeps trying to run and hide from his
culpability in the failure to maintain
onging Officer Training...

The city owns Navy Pier and McCormick Place, you probably don't realize the how germane that is to your post so I won't bother.
