Someone reminded us that we had written about this a long time ago - 8 years ago:
- While working in 018 under Cline's regime he started a program where 'community people' were invited to address the troops at roll call. On the first day, one of the reverends from Cabrini showed up with a female 'community spokesperson.' The reverend spoke for a bit, complained a little, then turned over the floor to the person of the community he invited to accompany him.
She began by berating the police in attendance and overall used the pulpit to spit out her self-serving vile. Our Commander who was (ordered) in attendance, Bill O'Donnell (a Prince) was taken aback and totally embarrassed how this community trial balloon turned out in 018. He felt that it was 'his' fault that that his troops had to be subjected to this crap at roll call as he was a big supporter of the women and men in his district.
Right after roll call, the Commander immediately drove to 35th Street and went in without an appointment or notice to see Phil Cline. He told him in no uncertain terms that the idea, as evidenced in 018 was a complete sham and a failure. He said he was embarrassed that he had to subject his (2nd Watch) roll call members to this type of verbal admonishment as a whole by some alleged 'community spokesperson.'
We wrote about this on 24 August 2006 (click the link for a trip in the time machine.) So who's going to do the apology tour this time around?
Someone else brought up the point that why isn't the "community" pointing out the ne'er-do-wells and their illicit activities every single day, without having to wait for some impressionable youngster who is being forced to listen?

If these ignorant assholes get to berate us, why can't we defend ourselves right back to them? Or file a hostile work environment complaint? How about IOD for stress? I've said it before, why do the powers that be insist on policing the ghetto when we clearly are not wanted? Leave the neighborhoods that despise us alone. The aldercreatures, false reverends and scam activists are calling for it. Then the city wouldn't need to hire more police. Aside from somewhat helping fund the pension, what good would more officers do? We can't be the police anyway. Look at the current statistics.
Shame on all the p.o.'s and bosses who would sit and listen to that and not say or do anything!
I was at that roll call. Happened exactly as written. Can you imagine what it will be like today, in this political climate. Good luck, kids.

Fat Eddie wants his friends like Jamal and Lamon speaking at roll call and riding around with the police. Whatever the media and the "community" want is what he'll give them. It's all about pushing the bullshit agenda and throwing officers under the bus. Officer safety is not a concern anymore. As long as there's "transparency" and the "community" has a "voice" for their "concerns," the police officers don't mean shit. Touchy feely nonsense to appease the vocal and clueless minority.
The "Community", not the Police are the problem! The Police do not live there and become embroiled in the petty nonsense that results in deaths by homicide. All of this Ferguson Effect is Media hype and bullshit! The Officer in Ferguson was guilty of nothing more than self-defense.And apparently in this age of blaming anyone but the person responsible, cops are no longer supposed to defend themselves. Is the female officer in 015 who did not want to shoot, ever going to be able to return to work? Years ago, a pimp smashed a female officer in the face with brass knuckles, she too was done, sent to disability. Did not even make the news. Nor did the FTO from 008, stabbed with a plastic rat tail comb, the subsequent infections and surgeries ended his career. Cops are the Victims of the ignorance of the Public and Politicos, who care only about their next election. How is it that a Sgt. is suspended without pay, for the McDonald case, when the entire Command Staff, including Jersey Shores, saw the video within 24 hrs., as did the State's Attorney and a liaison from the Mayor's Office; and nothing happened to them! Only the Sgt. and the P.O. are to be punished. Politicians and the Media want to put it on cops, when the issue is the absence of discipline, education, ethics and familial structure within the Minority Communities. LOOK AT THE REALITY OF THE STATS: 773 Homicides, 11 killed by police! Who killed the other 762? BUT POLITICIANS, LIKE RAHM, CARE ONLY ABOUT POWER! SO THEY REFUSE TO TELL THE "COMMUNITY" TO GET THEIR OWN SHIT TOGETHER. Berating the cops at roll calls may feel good for these Activists; but is "Training" cops the Issue or Problem? Train yo baby daddy to stick around and care for his baby. Stop cranking out babies and get a job. And voters; demand Term Limits and some sort of Impeachment Process for incompetent leadership, as is now the case in Chicago. Rahm Lied and failed, and Black Folks/Peoples Died! Fuc& Rahm and his "Chicago Values" Baby"G"
This has got "terrible management" written all over it! So the members of the community which could be rival gang families are going to point out the "bad guys" to young skulls full of mush coppers! Another example of why Phil Cline was the worst Superintedent in the history of the CPD! With a shady background and no moral compass he was a corrupt administrator and a manipulative self-promoter. He ruined the careers of many good people.In fact there was not a single day that he did not hurt a member of the Dept. Today he is still looting the great men and women of the CPD by using the CPMF as his own personal slush fund.
If I am ever in a roll call where this happens, I will walk out. There is NO place for that type of disrespect, on either side. If I need to have a "meeting" afterward, so be it.
Open dialog is fine and I'll participate. Speak down to me, treat me like a child, use contempt or belittle me and I'm out.

If there ever was a central concentrated cesspool and training ground for Police Hate it was 018's Cabrini-Green. Special Ed and his States Atty are Cabrini Alumni if there's need for any further discussion.

I have news for you. It is not up to you or the bosses to decide where to do police work. Your uniform says "Chicago" that means that you go where you are sent. That is why the DOJ is here, because people do not understand simple things. You are paid to enforce the law. If you do not like it, then this is not the job for you. Since you cannot be the police, you need to get another job. Good luck with that.
The department is going to let the most inexperienced and impressionable officers, RECRUITS, be subjected to the possibility of a hostile and unnecessary encounter with a community leader that believes that police are dangerous and need to change. On the street during your first weeks in FTO cycles you get your fill of unruly and disturbed individuals on the street that don't like police, no need to expediate the process. What you also understand pretty quickly is that everyone knows who the "problem child" of the neighborhood is and that the majority of people are not committing the crimes. It's the same people over and over and everyone knows it, it's not rocket science.
Recruits/PPOs are the officers CPD needs to do their best to keep safe and away from as many negative encounters while still on probabation. Letting a community organizer get ahold of your newest people is destructive to their growth as an officer. Every officer in Chicago should be proud to wear that uniform, regardless of what anyone says about this job and how it has changed. It's disheartening that Recruits are going to be berated and told of all the injustices the Chicago Police have committed before they even get a chance to try and change the perception, if that's even possible.
