Illinois Shrinking
And when we say "shrinking," we also mean "politically irrelevant:
- Imagine the entire population of Peoria, Illinois’ seventh-largest city, all picking up and moving across state lines in one year, never to work, pay taxes or create jobs in Illinois again. That’s equivalent to what happened to Illinois over the past year: New migration data from the U.S. Census Bureau show that from July 2015 to July 2016, Illinois lost 114,000 people, on net, to other states, a record high for the Land of Lincoln.
Now consider the permanent loss of the combined populations of Illinois’ 10 largest cities outside of Chicago: Aurora, Rockford, Joliet, Naperville, Springfield, Elgin, Waukegan, Champaign and Arlington Heights, along with Peoria. The loss of these 10 cities’ combined populations approximately equals Illinois’ net loss of population to other states since 2000. Illinois has lost some 1.22 million people, on net, over the past 16 years.
About to fall behind Pennsylvania in terms of political standing. And the death spiral continues.

But on the Bright side you're not counting the Illegal Aliens that are coming here in larger numbers,They work mostly for cash and if they give a fake Social Security number they add 10 dependents on it then Register to Vote because We dont check on Citizen Verification.
I can't wait to join them .
Fast forward seven years and they can count my family as gone.
Taxes out of control, fees, regulations and crazy laws.
I can't wait to leave. They just don't get it. Wait until no ones left. I'm not going to be the last one paying the bill.
I can't wait to see how many left Chicago?? And Cook County?? They are going to Tax soda come July. Well I won't buy any here. @$$¿•|$
3 years and out!!
Keep voting Democrats Illinois.
".. Illinois lost 114,000 people, on net, to other states, a record high for the Land of Lincoln. .."
I am sure those were 114,000 working, educated, law abiding citizens off to a better life elsewhere. Not hard to do.
But no worry. Rahm will more than replace them with his Sanctuary City program. All they have to do is VOTE.
I was born here and I plan on dieing else where.
This use to be a nice place until they ran of the good people with their BS!
I plan on voting with my feet ;)
A first grader playing SIM CITY could figure out why people are leaving..... Rules, laws, policy's, regulations, crime and taxes. Bad management in full affect. My wife and I talked about leaving and are making plans to do just that in seven more years. The more stuff they push down my throat the easier it gets to leave. I'm just waiting for retirement.
Who in the right mind would stay in this state? Democrats have been raising taxes, and we as middle class we are feeling our wallets lighter.
And most of those that left were Republicans.
But you are such a Democrat Party run paradise. Whatever could be wrong?
Please allow me to go somewhat off topic simply to point out an observation disallowed in the "not-fake-news" main stream media.
President elect Trump decided to whirlwind a "Thank you" tour gathering among the many common individuals selecting him as chief executive. Crowds of enthusiastic Americans gathered; 5000+ at each venue.
The peoples party, the democrats, champions of the downtrodden, organs of the oppressed, politicians that "feel me", held their own 'thank you'. Unless you sent 10 million dollars to the wicked whore, you weren't invited. A 100 thousand dollar thank you event was held by Hillary in a swank NYC hotel to thank her 50 multi-million buck donors.
Do you ferret out the bullshit from these democrats? Where is Rahm right now? From Cuba to North Korea? The mf aint going to tell you his whereabouts.
At one time one would be hard pressed to cross at Cicero and 22nd. Too many of the fifteen thousand shift workers wanting to get to work.
Everyone is fleeing. I know at least a dozen that have left. I'm considering retiring early and leaving Illinois for another job in 2 years. My whole family will go with, along with another family on my wife's side. If things were better we probably wouldn't even consider it. If there wasn't the residency requirement and we could live outside Chicago we'd probably stay too. Being forced to live in Chicago makes it almost unbearable.
Left 4 years ago, miss the food, that's all.
Left in August. Craving Pizza, Hot Dogs, Gyros, Italian Beef sandwiches. Outside of Chiraq you're SOL if you have a taste for this stuff.
Gone as soon as I sell the house !
It's politicians that destroy cities and states. They will do whatever it takes to stay in power even if they know it's bad for the city. They same type of people have been running this state for decades and Mike Madigan is the one in control. Very sad.
Left this month...1200 miles away.
What is laughable is that a column in Crain's Chicago blames Rauner and his policies for the people moving out of the state. Rauner? AND not the long-term Democrats who have been in power for decades?
Crain's is so out-of-touch that's why no one reads it anymore and the paper has shrunk significantly. Until Chicago gets some real journalists in the Media, the Media will keep covering up for the lame politicians who the cheerlead for.
I am going to be one of those voters in 18 mos. I vote with my feet. Color me gone. And so is my gal. Color her gone girl.
I'll never leave my pretty loft. Except maybe for a cabana in South Beach.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Within 2 years my family of four will be gone.
Will the last person leaving Illinois please turn off the lights?
That's a lie started by the Russians.
I did 29 years on CPD and retired as an old geezer (almost sixty) . Now living in Florida, was talking to a couple new friends. They are both retired NYPD, retired with 20 years OTJ in their early forties of age. After 20 years with NYPD they receive pension payments regardless of age. Both went to work for local LE agencies and are very happy.
I made the move in April. Just over the line in cheese country. I can make $5000 in home improvements every year plus my property tax, and STILL pay less than my property tax in Cook County. F--- the "leach class". I will not be part of this corruption any longer. Hopefully there is a long list of Federal indictments coming down the road for all the political criminals in Illinois.
This family is planning to go in 2017. We're looking forward to it.
Yet, Illinois politicians don't get it.
They don't understand how to manage a budget.
All they know is taxes and fee's.
We need:
Term limits
No pension for politicians
No healthcare after leaving office.
It is sad that people have/want to leave a state because the government has screwed it up so badly. It sucks to have to start over after setting down roots here, only to be ripped out by the greed of the government for the people, by the people.

48th Avenue and Cermak was busy too. All those people trying to get some Scatchell's before punching in to assemble rotary pay phones.
I can't wait to see how many left Chicago?? And Cook County?? They are going to Tax soda come July. Well I won't buy any here. @$$¿•|$

I can't wait to see what happens when the pension fund runs out in four years.
The food is the only thing to miss. Unless you enjoy high taxes for little or no services, corrupt politicians, criminal entitlement recipients, illegals draining society and out of control crime all being billed to you. My personal favorite is working hard to see a criminal leach who has never worked in a new high-end vehicle, on the latest smartphone, wearing designer clothes, living in a new home courtesy of section eight, shopping at high-end stores, only to finish off the day at a steakhouse for food and drinks. Fuck this disgusting entitlement city and county.
don't talk about it, do it. left one year ago for east Tennessee outside of Knoxville. the smokey and Cumberland mountains are beautiful. low taxes and gas under 2$. plenty of flat land for you flatlanders. lots of yankees around here to make you feel at home.
Soon to be 2 more gone. When kid graduates in 3 years that will be another loss, ending 120+ years of Chicago, Illinois residency.
Please forward the pension checks.
This is one topic where the liberals are totally silent- Because they are responsible for the problem. Take the credit- democrats. Illinois will always be a blue state, because most republicans have left!
Moved to the UP last year, another family from Chicago has moved to the same town. It's kind of a no-brainer.My house cost $27k, my kids are in a good school, lots of natural beauty and outdoor activities, and NO GANGBANGERS! Lots of like minded folks, too!
Instead of pandering to the illegals, the politicians should offer incentives for the working class to stay! The illegals (and their 7 kids who will eventually vote) carry more weight than the middle class.
no brainer....tax revenues dropping due to emigration out of Illinois? Just raise taxes on the fools who remain...duh....earth to Cook County residents & 2CC boarders
:)
"miss the food"
Ditto
+++ SCC: "About to fall behind Pennsylvania in terms of political standing." +++
Yep that's a given. But Illinois will lose more than just 'political standing'. As the mass exodus continues Illinois will lose two other things that are sort of important in the general scheme of things: It will lose Congressmen and ....wait for it.... Electoral College Electors -- a state gets One Elector for every Congress-critter. And Congress-critter numbers are based on population.
Since the Electoral College is in the news and, just 'news' to many Americans unfortunately now thanks to leftist unions taking over our schools since the 1960s-70s and ditching Civics Courses for 'important stuff' like How To Put A Condom On A Cucumber. Here's some fast facts: .......
--- 1) IL lost One EC Vote since the 2010 Census Reapportionment, giving it 20 for 2016 through the 2020 election.
--- 2) This is the 4th consecutive Census where Illinois has lost at least one electoral vote, i.e.: In the 2000 election IL had 22 EC Votes, in '88 had 24 EC Votes, in '80 had 26 EC Votes.
--- 3) Illinois PEAKED at 29 EC Votes from the 1912 through the 1940 elections.
Keep in mind that also lost were US Congress-Critters. BUT!...with fewer US Congressional Districts in IL the Democrats increased THEIR power by redrawing the District Maps to benefit THEM. The f--king Rats redrew my Congressional District Out Of Existence. It went from strong Republican and dependable 'R' Vote in the House to where now I'm in the middle of enemy fricken territory, and rep'd by a Nancy Pelosi bobble-head moron, Bob Foster.
Here's an EXCELLENT Website for All things pertaining to our Presidential Elections: Atlas of US Presidential Elections
I'm out also!
Who plans on staying might be easier to read. Last one out turn off the lights.
Why would happy people be leaving??
I just can't wait..................
The weather has been the same here for about a few thousand years or from the ice age. It isn't the weather. LOL
well just getting of politicians taking our money.
Born in Tennessee, plan to die there among the Appalachian mountains. The Chicago area is just purgatory for me at this juncture.
liberals love us paying for their ghetto baby makers.
if your on welfare u should be relocated to the mideast,it is nice and warm there.
I'm moving the day I retire!
Fuck Chicago and Illinois!
This place is run by thieves!
Thanks, Mike Madigan. You pompous egotistical self-centered SOB who has single-handedly done more to screw Illinois than all the Illinois pols who've gone to prison.
Would love to see you share exercise time with Blago.
Don't feel bad. I'm sure plenty of folks from Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala are already taking their place.
Madigan can start selling exit visas. How much for the letters of transit to get out of Casablanca?
Tax base is shrinking not the population. Bonified citizens with W-2's are leaving taking tax dollars somewhere else where it will be put to a good use without corrupt politicians demanding more.
Sanctuarians and lawless cheats are flourishing, two and three multi-state address are common.
Every night, everywhere you go, the cockroaches come out.
Can't count them when they're hiding behind the baseboards.
will the last one out of Illinois please turn off the lights
You can add 3 more leaving on Friday.
Be sure to move before you retire, dodge those taxes!
Mike Madigan and his cabal is responsible for the total decimation of Illinois

Don't forget all those "refuges" BHO has been bringing in from Syria, Turkey, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Icannotstan, Algeria and Indonesia.
We can't expect Germany and France to be the only fools on the planet.
BOOM!!) Instead of pandering to the illegals, the politicians should offer incentives for the working class to stay! The illegals (and their 7 kids who will eventually vote) carry more weight than the middle class
About those Electoral College Votes...
"
--- 1) IL lost One EC Vote since the 2010 Census Reapportionment, giving it 20 for 2016 through the 2020 election.

It's a good thing we are losing them if all we can offer is fraudulent voting and illegal aliens. Rahm must be thinking that we withstood eight years of BHO. So George Soros, Mike Madigan, Pelosi and all their ilk can put up a fight for four years of Trump.
If we are shrinking so much, why are commute times on the area expressways going way up? Rush hour doesn't end until 10:30 am. Why are the Metra trains so crowded? I have never seen so much traffic and passengers.
Left 8 years ago. Phoenix area has Portillo's and Lou Malnati's now.
