Weekend Gets Bloodier

The Department was bragging about "1,000 extra cops," on the street this weekend, but all of that is just a few hundred volunteers canceling their days off and Probationary members being required to work (without the benefit of Duty Availability pay either - thanks Deano!)

And after two days, we stand thusly:
  • 5 Dead, 41 Wounded (so far)
For comparison purposes:
  • 2016 - 6 dead, 62 wounded
  • 2015 - 11 dead, 55 wounded
  • 2014 - 16 dead, 66 wounded
  • 2013 - 15 dead, 63 wounded (extra long weekend like 2017)
Warm weather, minimal chance of rain, tempers rising due to friends getting shot - it's shaping up to be a record breaker.

Ok is there a blanket grievence due to RDO cancelled and they are still giving comp time on the 4th for those that are not RDO? Or do we have to file our own grievance?

SCC did you see this..

Exclusive.. Investigation into Cook County Sheriff's Budget.. Sheriff Tom Dart's Budget has increased $124,478,987.00 since 2006.. In that same time period he eliminated 602 full time positions from the Sheriff's office..

Federal inquiry please!

Sheriff Tom Dart's budget has increased 124 million (inflation considered 41 million) since he took office in 2006. The Sheriff added 68 Shakman exempt positions while eliminating 602 full time predominately officer positions in the last decade. Records indicate the Sheriff has been incredibly reckless with budget decisions, resulting in 600+ less officers providing valuable resources and protection to the citizens of Cook County.  Records also indicate that Sheriff has had more than sufficient funding to keep staffing at standard/safe levels but inexplicably chose not to do so!

2006 Sheriff Budget:: $388,872,980.00
2016 Sheriff Budget:: $513,351,967.00

Elimination of 602 Jobs..
 Sheriff office 2006:: 7,306 full time positions.
Sheriff office 2016::  6,704 full time positions.

Political Hiring..
Exempt Positions 2006:: 176 positions
Exempt Positions 2016:: 244 positions.

What would the grievance be? It was a condition of employment and part of the contract when they were hired. Duty availability was never put in the contract, it was to take the place or a raise and after some years it became pensionable.
Be careful if you start redifining duty availability could be taken away from po's on SS or po's who ever get details or do cancelled

Well, well, well...S(t)upEd has thrown the Sgt from 007 under the bus AGAIN, this time to appease Lori Lightfoot (and her political aspirations). Word is he signed charges on the Sgt for a Rule 14 violation on his application to join the Department in 2000.
What message does this send to the troops S(t)upEd?!?!! It says...if you get into a justifiable shooting & IPRA sends a letter to REINSTATE you (due to the direction the investigation is proceeding) the Department (City Hall through Corp Counsel) will find some other reason to f'you. Way to go S(t)upEd. For gods sake, man the f'k up at some point. We are tired out your "behind the scenes, I'm doing it for their own good" bullshit. Be the leader you ask us to be and LEAD. You have the time, the age & the pension - what are you afraid of?!?!?!

I believe it was 14 RINO's that caved to Madigan! Name them, remember their names & vote them out! In the end, Madigan got what he wanted. Rauner tried to save this sate's financial mess created by democratic control for years. Yet they blame him. The dems try & put the blame on the guy who's only been in office a few years lol. Not themselves for the mess they created.
Rauner tried to Enact term limits (Madigan), limit taxes on business to help them grow in this shit state instead of forcing businesses to flee!, property tax hike freeze, etc. but the democrats said NO! We need our taxes! The biggest tax hike in history! For your health! The soda pop tax is for your health I tell ya.
And I'm going to to tell you mr. Democrat taxing us to death is the only thing unhealthy around here. I'll have a pop please.

The rest of the taxpayers in this state are sick and tired of Chicago! Of crook county! Of Madigan! Of the Chicago democrats running Springfield.
Western, southern Illinois are tired. Illinois is a big state and these people are sick of seeing their tax dollars going to these welfare leeches and CPS. That's why they elected Rauner.
People are fleeing. Businesses are leaving. Now, more to come. You cannot tax your way into prosperity.

5% income tax now. Property taxes going up, again, & again. More taxes going up too. What is fop going to get us on this contract? Shit on a stick I suppose.

We are not getting a pension. You are nuts if you believe that. Put down the fantasy football & baseball & read up on or watch some YouTube videos on the "Illinois budget" and see for yourself how God damn scary this situation is. Read the comments. Educate yourselves. It's enough to make one start having a backup plan, yesterday. Read about Illinois going bankrupt. Or a bailout. Junk bond status. The trickle down effect. Our pensions, 401k, your deferred compensation (which everyone says to max out in) but I think is also tied to the city- not 100% sure on that, home property values, bonds, stocks.
Your retirement! We, the taxpayer, the retiree, will pay the price for bankruptcy. Not the politicians. Madigan will be long gone like Daley. You might lose big time, if not everything. Be prepared.
California, New Jersey, Connecticut , Detroit , and others are watching this closely.

And I can't help but wonder what these people are thinking buying overinflated homes for upwards of $400k! in this city. Frame homes. Nuts.

Duty availability was given in place of a raise. Originally it didn't count towards your pension. It really has nothing to do with your days off. If it did the po's that are SS or in units that aren't affected wouldn't be getting it
