Above and Beyond

  • Two Chicago police officers stepped in to help and a homeless woman desperate to find shelter for her four children, locating her family and providing them with material support.

Officers Matthew Jackson and Howard Ray were working in the 11th District police station Friday when a homeless woman with two young sets of twins came in. The family, from South Dakota, had been homeless for two days before they showed up to the station.

"I walk into the station and I saw a single parent crying, a single mother crying with her four children," Jackson said.

Police couldn't find a shelter that would take the family in. The woman had lost contact with her family, but the officers used detective work to track down her mother.

"I knew she had four children, I didn't know I was going to have four children!" Patricia Tillman, grandmother, said.

Tillman didn't have any of the material things she needed to take care of her grandchildren, so officers Jackson and Ray collected food, clothing and other supplies, and dropped them off at her home Monday.
Nice job guys, and nice job to everyone who pitched in.

Great job officers. Just another citizen reaching out to those "horrid" police officers. I bet this won't be a CPS teaching moment.

Great job guys. You are truly Chicago's Finest. Too bad the media doesn't cover it like a negative police story. The best recognition is from your family and peers. 'We' got your back. Thanks!

First, you stay in school, second you get a trade of profession then you get a steady partner and have kids. That is, after you established yourself have a steady income and home. And in the meantime when you cannot control your urges you get on birth control. But that's racist.

I've seen time and time again, coppers stepping up and taking care of business when it truly matters. In this case, the officers used their knowledge and known resources to acquire the needed goods to jump start this family. I've always wondered during times of need similar to this, where are the Rev's, Operation Push, and Black Lives Matter. Not being able to find shelter for a women and her four children speaks volumes about these organization. I hope Salvation Army wasn't one of these organizations that fused or were unable to find shelter.

I know what it is like to be set, working, saving money, doing good, having a family, and then have it all get yanked away from you through no fault of your own. It can end in homelessness with a quickness. When it happened to me, it was government, it wasn't political parties or even "charities" that play move money around tax free that offered the hand up. It was just a couple who saw a family that was getting a raw deal who needed a hand. REAL community. Good souls. Government left us hanging, but good souls stepped up to the plate.

Sounds like some good souls just stepped up to the plate. A wee bit better than trash duty, and more helpful too. Two sets of twins? Just WOW. The backstory is going to be very very interesting when that book is written!

Next up? Cops stripped for improper use of police resources, hearings, jobs terminated. You know the drill!

And the difference between these (obvious) good intentions / good deeds, and those despicable pond scum who dared pick up a rake or a broom to clean up an alley, is what, exactly?
Because pretty damn clearly one group deserves scorn and derision. The other praise and adulation.
'Cause, I just want to keep 'em straight.

How about this wise guy: One involves a stranger in a strange city needing some assistance and direction. The other involves "assisting" people completely and physically able to help themselves, but who don't even bother.

Great work here Officers.
And kudos too for anyone else who pitched in and helped.

Tiny Dancer's probably fuming over this. I wouldn't doubt it if he called Special Ed and said something like: ..........
"Find a way that can we strip these guys! They're making *us* look bad doing these good deeds for citizens!"

ps: I trust that Special Ed is recovering from his 'scrotum surgery' with no issues. btw, I wonder if his new bride, or Tiny Dancer, ordered a 'medical zipper' installed so she, or Rahm, can remove Ed's Gonads as needed to make him compliant with their wishes. ->> 'Honey I'm going Bowling with the guys. Can I have my nuts, please? HELL NO!
-->> 'Mr Mayor, I have to make an important Policing decision so I need my balls, okay? Fuck You Ed, hand them over!
