That Didn't Last Long

  • After ringing in two New Year's in Chicago, Chi-Town Rising won't be back for a third.

Organizers of the fledgling outdoor New Year's Eve party meant as a Midwestern equivalent to New York's celebration in Times Square shared last month that the party likely won't be back to usher in 2018.

Chi-Town Rising, organized by event company Arena Partners, debuted for New Year's 2016. The celebration culminated in a big star ascending the riverfront Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Wacker Drive, and was broadcast nationally on NBC. The debut festival reportedly led all local New Year's Eve broadcasts.
The 2016 festivities failed to break even and Arena Partners won't reveal how much they lost in 2017. So Rahm can add this to his list of achievements.

I remember watching New Year's Eve stuff on TV as a kid, out on State St, and there was also some nutcase in the crowd, without a shirt. They would be broadcasting by the Chicago Theater. It seemed like it was pretty crowded, but my memory of that may be wrong.

I watched part of it. It absolutely sucked. The acts were so bad and old and outdated. It just looked total amateur hour.

Both years were a bust. Just like most of the downtown protests the camera men had to take close up shots of the gatherings to make it look like the crowds were larger than they actually were. Anything to promote the false narrative.

This will be another negative to the Chicago
business community. Amazon is currently asking
cities to court them as to the suitability for being
the site of their second North American headquarters
campus. The international airport and the 4 sports
teams are a positive, but track pushers and the
cancellation of an outside New Year's event will
go into the negative side of the scale. Jeff Bezos is
a very smart man and will consider all variables.

Don't forget Nothing But Crap (NBC5) was so anxious to hype their participation that they were already calling it an annual celebration the year it debuted. From the purveyors of the Legend of Laquan, who cares if the first event is billed as annual? Why let facts stand in the way of hype?

Chi-Town Rising was such an idiotic name. Who is going to head downtown in this 'safe' city?!?

The name of the event infringed on copyright laws.

It belongs to Chi-town Rising Crime Rates.

You think Bezos is going to want to pay Illinois taxes and deal with this corruption? No way. He will go across the border and expand his Wisconsin distribution center before coming here. George Lucas had no real plans to come here either. He used Chicago as a bargaining chip for where he really wanted to be California.

This Amazon hub would be a huge windfall for Chicago, Cook County and the State of Illinois where ever the facility was built. They're talking about 50,000 jobs. That's no small potatos. Even if the majority of those jobs are factory and delivery it will get people working and bring in all kinds of revenue.
Realistically Chicago is best location for this hub to be built already. With Ohare Airport, all of the train access and the toll way system we are the most centralized location with all kinds of transportation options. Not to mention the culturally diverse city that we are, even though we're over taxed and you may get robbed while enjoying these amenities.

As city workers we should all hope that Emanuel does whatever it takes to land this deal.

Let's put a big something or other that's
evocative of Rahm Emanuel's political career,
mount it on a barge, light it aflame and float it
down the Chicago River on Halloween?

>Outsiders gawking in amazement as a large
papier-mâché asshole with a band-aid emblazoned
on it floats away blazing like a m/fer<

Sell spots on adjacent river walkway and bridges
for $50.00 to $100.00 a pop.

Local media can televise the shit out of it...

The best of Chicago style bullshit, breads, circuses, diversion,
dumb-assery, distraction, fuckery, false-flagging and cuckoldry...

And how many millions are not in the pension fund but used for this tripe? And who made money on it?

People going to Chicago for tourism reasons is like people going to Detroit for tourism reasons. That ship sailed already. That dog don't hunt anymore. That pony galloped her last prance already. Stick that fork in, that meat is done. That toaster is popped up. It has been nuked from orbit, just to be sure.

It could be the Greatest Show On Earth as opposed to worn out has been acts and it wouldn't make a difference. CRIME is way to rampant and EXPENSE is way to out of balance for the MidWest. Chicago is trying so hard to be Little Big Apple but the family money (political slush funds fed) just isn't large enough and wide enough to cover the costs.

IOW, it ain't gonna work and it only took twice for those with THEIR money on the line to face the fact. Chicago is a lost cause, going the way Detroit went, for the same reasons.

You can leave now, with more or leave later, with less. If you stay for your pension, well, keep lying to yourselves about that one. Less is still less no matter what lies you tell yourselves.

Is "breaking even" in Chicago the stuffing of politicians pockets with cash first, while managing to fill yours with an equal amount to get permission to come back next year ?
(Is it still 'Not for Profit' when the CEO pays himself + $200,000 annual salary, plus staffing?)

Guess that since "What Happened" didn't Happen and Fed liberal arts endowment grants been cut, they'll restructure under a new organization and try to get leftover private money that hasnt been given to the Democrat candidates 2018 PACS.

I learned something a long time ago, and that was when the President of the USA is coming for a visit (in my case, it was the Army fort I was stationed at), the best place to be was somewhere else far away.

That's pretty informed the way the way I feel about most big events, but especially any large event associated with New Years Eve. They simply look like a a major pain in the ass, and not all that much fun unless you've gotten yourself primed with about 5 or 6 shots of Jameson.

The show was total thugfest anyway, crappy acts just not anything to be proud of, just another major waste of taxpayers money by rahm and crew! Oh and rahm is using taxpayers money and setting aside millions to help the illegal invaders stay here, while he viciously removed our police retirees healthcare plans! Just like the crew of morons at flop dumped Kathy Moore bad move so much coming out soon, hope they like the new "look inside" While they are it they will also look at the pension fund specifically who freely gave the dv urban group (daley family) over 60 million of "our money" and they lost it! Hope indictments follow there also!

To think the fat and happy guy gets back in after losing what over $200,000 of our money why is he not brought up on charges? Did he feed the others "sausages" that he makes?
