Tighten Up Your Belts

And just like that, it was gone:

As we've noted recently, the Department has already blown through last year's overtime totals (over $140 million) and there's still three-plus months to go.

And this is a surprise why?

So the department has once again pimped out its willing whores,
leaving them high and dry when no longer needed.

Used and abused to babysit the self-cleaning ghetto ovens,
a tacit admission of how woefully understaffed we truly are.
Blinded by the "easy money", these gullible coppers too stupid
to see that working those initiatives is hurting more than helping.

Cant wait to hear the crying over being unable to make ends meet.

Given that the idiot who wrote this tripe doesn't know the difference between "days" (multiple, plural) or - as shown in the link/image - "day's" (singular, possessive), does that mean some sort of loophole already exists? Also, can we make more than the ability to fog a mirror and exhibit a pulse a requirement for the job of documenting the words of the bosses? Or, and you can call me crazy, but maybe end the concept of promotion without evidence of ability. I grow tired as a P.O. of the feeling that I'm smarter than many of the supervisors I've had the pleasure of hearing them try to use the English language.

In a sane world, that would be enough to justify all kinds of overtime, to, you know, ADDRESS THAT PROBLEM!

Besides, crime is DOWN DOWN DOWN so who needs overtime?
Even if the overtime was actually driving crime down, really, admitting that would mean admitting that MORE GUNS EQUALS LESS CRIME! Can't do that!

Looks like Northside Districts will again be shipping out their surplus to far South and West Districts always in need of extra resources rather than have any sort of OT Initiatives.
Anyone willing to do some Out of District pro-active activity for a chance at the apple?
Bids Openings will scarce but double digit openings aplenty for the not-so fashionable sides of town that could last for the next 6 months.

Rahm's City Hall cut the CPD spigot, yet hundreds of millions given to an unaccountable CPS to waste.
His recent $80 mil to CPS security costs could have easily paid every sworn members real estate tax bill for 2018 or another year of OT manpower.
Instead, he allows CPS to piss it away.

Staying Fetal is cheaper, safer and reasonable.

POs can't help but attack other POs. This is a culture in CPD that I'll never understand. There are the statistical outliers who make way more OT. Not for me, I value my life and health, but the point is that these guys aren't screwing anyone. The city cancelled all department members RDOs multiple times this year, which far outweighs the statistical high-earning outliers in terms of OT payment (27.5/hr x 1.5 x 8.5 hr shift x 3000 officers = 1,032, 750 per citywide cancelled day and I think that's a low ball). The point is that the GSW victims are lower than last year and tapering off. Think about it, geniuses. If this city had consistent bloodbaths, do you really think we'd see the OT nipple cut off? If you're too dumb to answer the question, I'll answer it for you: no. So how about you stop attacking other officers and look at the big picture. Never mind, this is CPD.

The REASON OT is being canceled now is because the Inspector General is going to do an audit of some sort on "police overtime".

THE REASON the department (city/mayor?) is killing the OT is because of the Sun-Times article on overtime that came out 2 weeks ago.

If you scroll to the bottom of the article you can go to a database where you can see EVERYONE'S salary and overtime (including YOURS) for 2016.

Without OT we don't have the number of street cops that Rahm promised. Fall is just starting and with OT cut "chalkie" will rear his head and the blasters will start spewing. The numbers will go back up and so will the OT. It's called violence reduction by the yellow slip.

I spoke to a deputy chief yesterday.

The REASON OT is being canceled now is because the Inspector General is going to do an audit of some sort on "police overtime".

THE REASON the department (city/mayor?) is killing the OT is because of the Sun-Times article on overtime that came out 2 weeks ago.

If you scroll to the bottom of the article you can go to a database where you can see EVERYONE'S salary and overtime (including YOURS) for 2016.

copy and paste:

WRONG

The real reason is that Rahm realized all the money we were getting that he could have been stealing.

Order just came out. Per chief of patrol, no extension of tour without authorization from district commander or captain. Try finding one of those two when you need them.

9/08/2017 08:37:00 PM

Can't tell you how many times I've had a late arrest and wanted to pack up and go. Waiting for lockup or detectives, now I'll just leave a note with the offender. Be back tomorrow between 1400-1530 hrs if I'm not RDO.

Whoever is doing the investigation should take a look at unit 191 Intel and the C.O. who's running the show there. They have a good scam set up. Lots of officers and sergeants taking advantage of it.

"Scam?" Jesus, did you get dumped? We are our own worst enemy on this job. What is it like to be such a hateful, jealous little bitch? I want to follow you around and blast you on a blog. Ever take a red light without being on a call? Oooooooow, you're abusing your power!!! I'm telling! Have you had a free/discounted cup of coffee or someone comped your meal without telling you? Aaaaaawe, you're on the naughty list! You never leave 10-15min early or show up a few late to roll call? No one is perfect but you are a miserable fuck.

Live within your means. Or better yet start forcing your union to bring up residency. If your working 2 or 3 jobs clearly you can't afford this city. I left for a new job awhile ago and moved from the city.

A real, legit audit should cause some OT whores to have very nervous bowels and puckering sphincters.

The above is an idiot, (19 ward - 4 yoj) we are not talking about a free cup of coffee here you fool. Enjoy going to 005 on 1st watch sooner then later kiddo.

Team 1 - Controlled buy of a 1/10 gram of rock = a team of highly skills narcotics officer' of 8 and a sgt. 8 hours of O.T. = 12 hours. Total 96 hours. Average per hour per specialist, lets say $46.00 @. total $4,416.00.
Goes to court Noelle Pros.
Great Job Unit 189.
The place must have a budget for o.t of 50 million.

Lets times his by the 500 people working there. Copper' with 3 yoj, total specialists knockings out 150 K per year.

If any team took in a kilo of more then $150.00 USC, the Old Sears carpet warehouse on Homan would shake.

The Cmdr there surely see' and knows of all this going on. But !!!!!!!!! you got it !!!

To team 1 commenter....

First off, I was responding to a comment regarding an attack on intel allegations of a "scam." Since you're an old-timer know it all, can you tell me when 189 merged with Intel? Or when did Intel start but/busts? Can you also tell me why you assume I'm a "kid" or am I'm narcotics? Second, you're discussing proportional levels of what some would characterize as "abuse." It's absolutely the same thing if you, as a beat cop, have been padded by a boss or got an early duck. Let me guess, you never allowed it? You're full of shit and a cry baby. Lastly, the OCD strategy switched under McCarthy to being but/busts. It's what was ordered of them. Yet you are hating them for doing what's within their ability for overtime. Sorry, your excellence, but kilos don't fall from the sky or happen with walk-up but-busts. The strategy for gangs and narcotics is to remove all these low-level players just before a holiday weekend to take players out of the picture so they aren't offenders and victims. Right or wrong that's what's ordered of them. Same thing if you have any friends in fugitives in terms of types of warrants they've been charged with handling over the years. "Friends" are something I doubt you value at all, you'd much rather be the little miser sowing hatred. No thanks to your offer of 005. I work in a shitty district and have great furlough picks and minimal work. The OT is not for me but I don't knock those who do it...and I don't think I cry that much. How about you?

You're a moron to blame all of OCD. SO blame Patrol for the DOJ coming here? It was RW from 193 that created the issue from what was said but he is clouted. He is one of those commanders guy. Oh well. He will get the don't do it again talk. Lol

He's not in 193, he's in 189. Know your facts before you type.

8SEP@7:10pm - Your comment that they are hiring 💯 per month was recently refuted by the Crime in Wrigleyville/boystown blog. With all the fanfare that the media had given with the "Rahm runs with police recruits" photo ops - the net gain has been 37 officers! The blog had to file a FOIA request to get the info - which we know SCC cannot do if they intend to remain anonymous. And staying anonymous is understandable given the previous IAD witch hunts to unmask SCC. Thanks to the folks at CWB for their data which, listed unit by unit, has proven that Rahmocide has not hired enough recruits to replace officers lost due to attrition.
