We stopped watching the Bears a few years back after losing too many toothpicks with our odds-making "friends." We stopped watching the NFL after the endless anti-Americanism took the place of simple enjoyment. So did a lot of other people it seems:
- TV ratings for the NFL’s Thursday night opener got sacked — again — falling for the fourth straight year.
While the NFL still commands the largest young, male demographic of any programming, the 12 percent decline from last season’s opener can’t make Commissioner Roger Goodell a happy man.
And this season’s game featured marquee New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, but he failed to spark a rise in viewership, as the game drew just a 14.6 rating.
Last year’s game scored a 16.5 rating — which was itself 7 percent lower than the 2015 opener.
And with the continuing politicization of football, we won't be back... along with millions of others.

NHL Hockey players, the majority of which aren't even American, give more respect to our flag and national anthem than these "opressed" primadonnas in the NFL. I used to never miss a Bears game but I too stopped watching a couple years ago and only watch hockey now. Football players can express their opinion but I'm not going to financially support you anymore.

Its not just the politisation, that's the straw that broke the back, but it the scandals, its the criminality of the players , its the missed tackles, the shoddy plays that appear orchestrated, the arrogant showboating, its the ticket prices and in Chicago its a crappy team year after year since 1985. Add in the BS calls and the games are approaching 4 hours.

I've tuned out the NFL. I don't care who wins, loses, it does not matter, I don't make a penny of it. After the vicious anti-Americsnism of that putz from San Francisco, I was done.hire home, don't I don't care. I second that. Thanks to the lowsey quarterback Kapernick I didn't watch one game last year and won't watch this year. No more fantasy football either. My kids won't be playing football mostly because of the risk of head neck and spine injuries but the actions of these spoiled selfish players is the icing on the cake. Don't want my kids playing or watching a sport where millionaire players act like that. So many others feel the same way. Fantasy leagues are way down too. The NFL has turned to shit.

I wanted to watch that game thurs. night. when they played the National Anthem the camera showed one of the chiefs sitting down with his helmet on his head. Turned it off and did not watch one minute of that game and it's advertisements. The same goes for any game including the bears. that's not just for one game but the season, any team with kneelers or sitters, is on the shit-list for the whole season.

I am a veteran of the United States Military, the son , nephew , grandson, grand nephew, friend and relative of varying degrees to many Us Military veterans. Many of those have served in conflict and combat. My family history and those who have fought for this country extends all the way back to the very beginning of this Country. After serving in the military my family members often found their way to first responder jobs. Every one of them, including myself have taken oaths, to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States. It insults me and the memory of all of hose who have taken that oath when some snot nosed brat refuses to recognize those who have stood honorably and defended this country. I will absolutely not watch, or patronize, in any other way a single NFL event, until these asshole MF'R's learn respect and stand the fuck up for our National Anthem. College hockey is also a fantastic sport that is way under promoted. The season is much shorter in college hockey than in the NHL and so every game counts. Plus lots of the best teams are from schools like University of North Dakota and University of Maine, University of Minnesota at Duluth. When these college hockey fans came to the United Center last March for the finals - the "Frozen Four" there were tens of thousands of nice folks like us on the West Side of Chicago. Isn't that a nice thing to contemplate?

I stooped watching complete NFL games a year ago. No longer interested in watching multi millionaire cry Babies complain about how badly America has treated them.

Follow their games on tv, etc. etc. etc.

Seriously, Division II and Division III footbal is great. The players are playing because they love the game.
And the tickets are dirt cheap. You can take your kids with you to the game, and even feed them for less than one NFL Ticket.
NFL ratings have been dropping for a while. Why should gamblers watch a whole game when they can just keep up with their bets by watching NFL RedZone? Face it, much of the popularity of pro football has to do with betting. You don't need to actually watch the games to follow your investment.
I quit watching the national felony league and the national bong association decades ago as the behavior of many of the participants mirrored that of our customers. Deal with assholes all day and then go home and watch them on tv, fuck that.
Remember the thug linemen from St Louis walking on the field with their hands raised? Wasn't that the big lie in the black community after the Michel Brown attacked the police officer?

Ok I get not watching Football and basketball because of the "thug" culture of some of the players ; but let's not act like hockey / baseball and soccer players are saints . I've always been a hardcore Bears fan, it's to the point for me that I only watch the Bears. I want nothing to do with the rest of the NFL! I can't even stomach the national pre game bullshit shows. I do know that John Fox of the Bears strongly encourages his players to respect the flag and our national anthem. I never thought I'd say that I like and respect the Packers, but they seem more pro American than most teams. I hope people keep protesting the NFL and they keep losing revenue! F Kaperdick and Michael Bennet! God Bless America!!!
Do what I do : Record the game , then start watching it about an hour after it starts - that way you can fast forward past all the contrived political BS ( and the commercials ). Makes for a old fashioned - no BS - good day .
