Shame Works
- The Chicago Police Department on Friday issued a community alert and a short video of a suspect wanted in an August attack in which a man was pushed from a Loop subway platform onto the train tracks.
The publicly issued alert comes two days after the Chicago Tribune first reported on its website that the Police Department and the Chicago Transit Authority did not notify the public about the Aug. 1 incident at the CTA Blue Line's Washington Street station.
And then the blaming of the victim begins:
- Chicago police had previously said they did not issue an alert because they believed the incident was isolated. They also previously said they had trouble contacting the victim after the incident.
Anthony Guglielmi, the Police Department's chief spokesman, said detectives spoke about the incident Thursday with the victim, whom the Tribune identified as 46-year-old Ben Benedict.
"The victim had provided more information to the Chicago Tribune than he provided to police," Guglielmi said. "When detectives read that story, they went to the home of the victim because there was a lot more information given there than they were able to put in an investigative case report.
Right. Now how about those patterns in 001 and 018?

When confronted with public outrage, Anthony Guglielmi
blames the victim. Sound familiar?
Any follow up interviews before this?
If I was attacked, I probably could not be articulate and helpful at all the first day.
The dicks need to follow up, not everyone is a no snitchin' gang banging scumbag.
Can't show criminals and crime on CTA Property. That might discourage all you peasants and proles from taking the CTA. You all must use the CTA and leave the streets free for motorcades for Rahm and the rest of our Lords and Masters.
Patterns in 001 and 018? It's wayyyy beyond patterns. The public would shit their panties if they knew how much crime actually happens every night and day in the nine digit midget's downtown fiefdom.
So where is the footage of the aaahole so the public can help find the POS before he does it again.....Nice save on the investigators didn't get the information the Trib did...My dog ate my homework too....WTF has to happen before we take things seriously. Does it have to happen to a coppers family or friends?
The scary part is this M/2 looks almost like a typical office worker. They should check downtown psychiatrists for those who missed their appointments. He doesn't even look that dangerous.Probably just has a mental illness.
"Chicago Police had previously said they did not issued an alert because they believed the incident was isolated." So if a co-ed was raped or robbed at UIC there would be no need to issue an alert because it was just an isolated incident and why worry other co-eds. Who comes up with this back pedaling logic? Also while they are at it they should release the platform video of the incident or do they believe it is too inflammatory. All is well citizens!
Its not Rahms narrative to tell people crime patterns. He wants people to believe everything is fine. When they get called out on it , rarely will they even respond . It never happened if they dont talk about it. Now the asshole said the President is not allowed in HIS city. HIS city. Not ours, HIS. Fuck this twerp. He needs to be gone. I hope the President comes down hard on this guy somehow. One thing we know for sure. The President will not let this stuff slide.
Guglielmi is such a Rahm puppet it's nauseating.
No wonder the clearance rate is so low. Reporter just soaked the right questions that is how got more info than detectives. Nice job CPS covering your ass. Have no doubt that ram wants to keep things quiet, but there is such a thing as anonymous source reporting. Time for responsible CPS employees to drop a dime. That also goes for ICE reporting. Shine the light on the rats and they will run and hide.
Another reason to carry on the CTA. Why be bait when you can be the hunter.
Probable Detective narrative with translation:
"R/D attempted to contact victim (one ring then hang up to show CPD number on the caller ID), but was unable to. R/D then relocated to the victim's address but (after faking ringing the doorbell), R/D was again unable to make contact. Business card (which probably blew away) left.
Victim notice sent, however, R/D received no reply.
(After this incident made headlines, R/D was called into the HGS office and was asked regarding the status of this investigation. R/D then conducted a proper interview and was able to make contact with the victim)"
Maybe, just maybe, some newbie dicks blew it. Worst case scenario, they were drinking the cool aid and the soft touch was intentional . . .or ordered.
Bald - Fat - and Stupid is no way to go through life. So sayeth Dean Wermer from Animal House. However, the department chose to hire two similarly identified out of state mouthpieces to head up our media team. Oh yes, and lets not forget the washed up channel 32 talking head along with the recently promoted [don't know what his actual title is - Deputy Chief of Apologies to the Community might work] Mr. Brooks. No wonder the "real" word is not getting out.
How does Guglielmi live with himself? Some people will do absolutely anything for an inside job - Guglielmi is the perfect example.
I'm sure Googenheim and Rahm give each other Wet Willies.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
The latest is the scammers ridding the orange and red lines all day and when the trains leave the station they start a general speech to the captive audience about how they want work but can't find it cause of racism and other faults of the white man then ask for donations.
No police around of course although it goes on all day long with the offenders ridding back and forth.
Sadly, more than ever today, not everybody wearing a 'Detective' Star knows or will ever learn that job. That goes for people taking telephone notifications all the way to field Dicks. Many can't decipher case reports to figure out what is legit and what is not. Many NEVER will.
I'd say getting pushed down onto the tracks is pretty fucking legit, wouldn't you agree?
They simply don't care to know. They don't even know how to contact a victim? Just get that Area phone record to show that you called them, Correct? Bumble your v.m., if you even leave one, just enough to give the phone lady a Coronary should your victim try and call back. Imagine what that victim feels..........
Amateurs!!!
Its truly a sad state of affairs. Sorry, but Summary detective or not, WE (not Rahm, as much as I can't stand that prick) dropped the ball on this one. Way to bring discredit upon the Department. Just what we needed. More negative press. Congratulations.
Hey SCC, don't know if your aware but the CCSA office now wants victims of crimes that require felony review locked into a videotaped statement BEFORE felony charges are approved. Case in point in 016 a man in car points a gun at another man driving his car over a road rage incident cause by the man with the gun. Call goes out, a beat car stops the suspect vehicle and a gun is recovered and offender arrested. The victim is in the station after he calls 911 and the bad guy brought in, positive ID of offender, vehicle and gun. Now the Kim Foxx zone, the ASA wants the beat car to go to the area and retrieve an iPod/tablet recording device and go to the victim and record the victims starement after 6 hrs since the arrest. Now the offender is pissed and goes home after the ASA asks the officers to ask numerous nonsensical questions to the victim about the incident. Charges are then DENIED for felony UUW. The 3rd Watch WC calls for an over ride and then the ASA comes into the station and requests the arresting officer along with a Sgt. with a camera equipped car go over to the victims residence to get the victim to stand in front of the vehicle and make his statement into the camera. Well the victim is pissed off, refuses a statement but reluctantly charges are approved by ASA almost 10 hrs after the arrest. Now go get em guys!
Isn't GUGLELMI the same "idiot that say's "crime is down" every month?? How many "merit spots work in "news affair"
I was wrong! When they didn't immediately release the photos of the "Suspect", I assumed he was a Democrat of color. O.K.; so why did they not release the photo? Were they afraid releasing a photo of someone who was still at large and tried to kill a passenger was more than the average CTA patron could handle? Were the Detectives newbies, or were they just blowing the case off? In any event, I still contend that the CTA is unsafe, anytime of the day or night.Cameras cannot protect you, and to even think, that way shows how our perceptions have been warped by the Media and this Administration. Come on; do cameras have little arms that reach out and restrain or beat offenders? Really? Yet we accept the concept: Cameras can protect you, and you don't need more cops. Meanwhile, every time that we see Gugilelmi spinning a statement/lie for the Rahm regime, he appears more and more like Baghdad Bob, Saddam Hussein's Minister of Propaganda in the last days of that tyrant's regime. "There are no American Tanks in Baghdad". "I'll see the tape when you see the tape." Stay safe, and minimize your exposure to liability. Baby "G"
"Now the asshole said the President is not allowed in HIS city. HIS city. Not ours, HIS."
That is how the mind of a sociopath works. He isn't even from here. He needs to take his carpet-bagging ass back to DC or the North Shore or his quiet little cottage overlooking the great sea of Lake Michigan.
The Winnetka Experiment needs to end, now.
so the original report omitted that he was pushed onto the tracks?
go BS someone else
I'd love to see the copy of the original GOCR the Dic got for follow-up. Then the phone calls started!
There it is, PO's have been complaining about the Dick's not doing their job. Something as simple as canvassing and in this case, didn't even do a detailed interview(s) of the victim and witnesses. If someone checks, I'll bet the assigned Dick did a phone interview of the victim and did not track down any of the witnesses. A serious attempt on someones life and the Follow-up report has nothing in it. The story hits the paper, and the Dick runs out and interviews the victim five weeks later...... WTF

That's literally his job.
You'll see a lot of stuff kept under the radar while Rahm courts Amazon.
Just a bit of turnstile jumping, jobless, unwashed, unhinged Antifa - ISIS sympathizer style anger, common in France and Germany.
Profiled Ben just looked too conservative for him to bear.
GoogleMyHeinie is the CPD Baghdad Boob...nothing to fear.
Oh my! The video shows this guy walking "zombie like".....good thing we already have a plan in place here: http://wgntv.com/2017/02/10/zombie-preparedness-month-is-now-a-real-thing-in-illinois/
CTA trains are dangerous! How about shot person at lake/Ashland el? Wow. Good job by popo-good flash msg.
Check CTA arrests for turnstile jumpers. This guy should already be in the system.
The detectives assigned to call back in Area Central never make an effort to call anyone. When you try to call them you receive an answering machine and when you leave a message they stil do not call you back.
They are USELESS!
They only released the video because the suspect is obviously not Amish
That CTA alert on him has been hanging in 001 for at least a month... Great job news affairs
Whoops... sometimes suspending a case because you are lazy can comeback to bite you...
The FAILURE MAYOR orders hide as much crime as possible. There is no manpower in Mass Transit and bad guys know it.
Emmanuel has depleted the Chicago Police.

"Guglielmi said that when detectives have information on a case, there's a 'balancing test' to decide whether a community alert is appropriate."
Could someone explain this "balancing test"? Where I come from alerts would be issued immediately and not a month later after the press ran a story about it. Is the balancing test between how badly the victim was hurt versus how badly the crime makes the city look? It's amazing how this picture was produced right after the Tribune ran their story. So many things stink about this case. Detectives didn't interview the victim until just recently?

You are kidding Do you really believe the bad guys know it. They don't have a clue and never read the newspaper. Yea bad guys talk and check the manpower of Mass Transit If you ever worked the street you would know these fools don't know shit about CPD All they look for is that no police is in sight when they want to rob someone
Then I could be wrong, they probably put in a FOIA for Mass Tansit"s daily work sheets
If it was a Juvenile the Commander of 184 would have wanted SGA.

It was "fat, drunk and stupid", and it was Faber College Dean Vernon Wormer. If you're gonna quote one of the best movies, you gotta get it right!
