Officer Down - Rockford

  • A Rockford police officer was killed and a man was found dead in a vehicle early Sunday when a traffic stop led to a crash and an apparent shooting.

Just after 1 a.m., officer Jaimie Cox, 30, made a traffic stop near State Street and Dawn Avenue, Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea said during a Sunday news conference. A short time later, Cox made a brief radio transmission asking for assistance.

Responding officers found a one-vehicle crash about two blocks north of where the initial traffic stop happened, O’Shea said. Eddie Patterson, 49, was found dead inside that vehicle.

Cox was found critically injured at the scene and was taken to Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, where he was later pronounced dead, O’Shea said. It was not clear whether he succumbed to injuries related to the crash or if he was shot.
Prayers for the fallen Officer, his family, friends and co-workers.

Retired and living near Rockford. Apparently a struggle between the officer and offender occured after the traffic stop. According to the press conference by Rockford PD officer Cox became entangled in the offenders vehicle and the suspect drive off. No cause of death has been released but the general feeling is Officer Cox suffered traumatic injuries from being dragged. The offender crashed into a tree and nearly split his vehicle in two, he was found dead inside. There were reports of shots being heard and it is unknown if Officer Cox shot at the vehicle or the offender. Cox was 30 yrs old and had been on the Rockford PD for only 11 months. Cox was a conservation Police Officer with the Illinois DNR before laterally moving to the RPD.

Too many fallen brothers since the hate the police stated. Thanks to Barry. All you greatest of all, the CPD patrol people, please watch your backs. Fuck the brass and their worthless asses and them wanting numbers. The Lord has protected the CPD from the worse
of worse tragedies for sometime.

May our young brother in Rockford rest easy in the Lords hands. So tragic as all are, when we lose a member of LE on the deadly street of this county.
.
Seeing you young guys in a squad makes my old heart feel proud of all you men and women, knowing you hero' watch over the good people. Had a good run and it' your turn to play the role. Laugh you asses off every day guys. The streets are only an illusion ! Anytime I see a couple of copper' or more having lunch, I pick up their tab and hit the door. I know it will make their day for awhile.

Police are the problem, F--k Black Lies Matter, The American Criminal Lovers Union and all the other Left wing A holes
It's time to admit a group of our society refuses to conform the laws of a civilized society. They should be confined to jail; for a long time so as not to prey on society. Listening Illinois politicians FOXX and DART ARE DOING JUST THE OPPOSITE.
