Swiping Order

Here's a link to it:
We have't heard any horror stories, so either it ran smoothly or everyone at HQ was ordered and intimidated into keeping their mouths shut.

If the watch has to swipe eventually, then so be it. Better believe that the tact teams should also be swiping and not have a designated team member swipe the team out. If that happens I’m sure a lot of to forms will have to be written. They should also put a camera under each swiping machine.

The city is gonna lose money on this if it spreads to the districts. From now on they're gonna have to pay everybody who used to just leave without filling out a time due slip after staying over 15 or 20 minutes. Most people just want to go home even if they stay for a few minutes after their shift has ended and they don't bother filling out a slip because it could take another 10-15 minutes just to see the LT and fill out the slip. If the LT is at roll call 15 minutes of overtime can turn into 30 minutes overtime. Most people are gonna leave instead of going through the hassle just for a few minutes. Hopefully an ambitious city hall employee or reporter tips off the mayor about this and he scraps it. It's really not in his playbook to throw money at city employees. Maybe he'll realize it on his own being the money miser that he is.

Rahm is really trying to turn the Police into a regular job. My prediction is that most officers will feel this as well. What other government job in Chicago that offers free medical only has about 15% take advantage of it? Probably 85% of officers don’t hit the medical. The sheriff’s office has a ton of call ins the day after the super bowl. They use all their days every year. My point is that most officers will just accept this as any other job. Like working at Home Depot. No more pride. I don’t feel like going in for 3 days. I’ll hit the medical. Do that 4 times a year and that’s 12 free days off. I’m thinking of doing it. Why go in sick anymore?

Well it's about time this happens. I just don't get why we are the only department in the USA that didn't have any time management accountability in the year 2017. When I worked in districts and PHS I always worked a full tour. Even in PHS we routinely worked at least 7/8.

But I'd routinely see mgmt spots i.e. tact and watch secretaries working 4 to 5 hours all the time. Then if you'd take an hour on the front end they'd be standing at the desk with your slip all filled out awaiting your signature while they had their coat on and car keys in hand impatiently waiting to leave for the night. Lol after working 4 hours or less.
And how about the guys with 4,000 or more hours on the books? Lol you never have to burn time when you are only working 4 hours a day. So it's not just an overtime issue. When I worked in 022 they'd routinely put the watch secretaries on a B.S car and then down the car then send the secretary home after 4 hours. So glad accountability is phasing in finally.

At 376 all civilians swipe and hand scan and same for the Streets and Sans guys. They all work full tours.

Trust me, all of these scenarios have been tirelessly researched over the last couple of years. The department and the city bean counters guarantee millions of dollars in savings. In addition, the inspectors are going to be all over this process and punishment will be swift.

I understand that eventually when they use the swiping foraychecks is OT some may see an increase in OT pay. However the city will significantly save on entire teams being given "travel time" on their silps. Or a couple of hours for a gun, felony approval of charges etc. The city will save money period. Your comparing apples and oranges.

Could this be city hall inciting more hatred toward the police and more specifically our contract? Rahmbo is no fool, I wouldn't put it past him to have trolls on the blog, smearing us to the media. Go pound sand tiny dancer, we're onto your game. Is there a small number of medical abusers, sure, but those "connected" few that are allowed to keep up their shit do not reflect the overwhelming majority of officers that show up day in and day out to protect this hellhole city.

not likely as these smart cards cannot be easily duplicated and if that does occur the machine will spot it. And, as it is in the case of private industry, there is usually a hidden pinhole camera in the ceiling just over the card reader. The best way is a fingerprint reader or an iris scan but the city is too cheap

11/03/2017 11:22:00 AM

Like I said a month ago when this was rumored... there'll be a bunch of 'lost' ID cards and replacements will be issued.
The 'old, lost' one will be in people's star cases. The 'new, valid' one will be in the hands of whoever's designated to swipe everybody out.
The clouted will go home early, as usual, and one person will hang around to swipe them all out. And nothing will change.

"Economy of Scale."

Can't you that at work?
That's a window into what's perpetually wrong
with the FTO program.

When "TOO MANY" FTOs are washing out (for good
reason and cause) "TOO MANY" recruits who misfit
the uniform, and "TOO MANY" of those recruits just
might be members of a catered-to demographic?

The one whining WILL be YOU as you're being
spun in circles trying to shield your sad,
sore and by the time all is said and done,
very sorry ass from all the administrative
kicks being aimed at it.

From "Hero" to "Can't-Seem-To-Do-SHIT-Right"
in the blink of an eye...

Reassignment?

You'll bouncing around hoping you'll land
on a world you might passingly recognize.

Remember.

apparently those thinking duplicate id's have never seen the machines - they require a handprint too, genius.

and 1:24AM has it right. You will have a bunch of clock watchers. Gone will be the days of take care of me tomorrow; no bitches, pay me today. W/C's and sergeants will have no discretion. If management can't be trusted to use their discretion then I don't need management - all I need is someone watching the time clock. I work inside a fair amount of the time - you can bet I'll be in the lunchroom on my breaks and lunch - not in the lockup or on the desk answering the phone or handing out 'magic paper'. If it's unpaid time, it's non work time.

Been there done that. Remember the pilot program. You could take 3 days like 4 or 5 times a year without going down to the medical or having to go to the medical to get a clearance to report back lasted a year. Same people continually used it coinciding with their weekends. It was cancelled after a year

Antifa apocalypse? Anarchist group's plan to overthrow Trump 'regime' starts Saturday

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/11/03/antifa-apocalypse-anarchist-groups-plan-to-overthrow-trump-regime-starts-saturday.html

Something to think about from story:
The gatherings are being described as a kind of "Antifa apocalypse" on right-wing media, according to The Washington Post. Several sites are expressing particular alarm about the loosely-defined left-leaning group, which preaches a version of ferocious anti-government chaos that often uses "domestic terrorist violence," according to a recent FBI report.

With that they are domestic terrorists will the feds be around to bring the charges and lock these pos up? Did rahm and democratic panderers with "Chicago values" issue permits for disruptions? Are the state police involved? Is the national guard ready to enforce "federal terrorism laws"here?

Advice for the thin blue line, go to home depot or hardware store get googles with side shields and fit tight on the face! get large industrial type garbage bags and cut hole to poke head through in case they throw liquids! Bring extra bottled water, and snack bars. Know where the "decontamination" area is in case you need to be doused with water! Have someone on your team with a fire extinguisher in case they throw something flammable, have someone on rooftops watching with binoculars to let you know on the ground who the agitators are! Do not separate stay together, Have a plan on what to do and what each team member will do in case of shit hitting the fan!

Make sure weapon is clean and ready and extra clips, better to be safe than sorry! Hoping and praying this is nothing but cannot trust the paid terrorists, and if things get bad show rahm and the democrats love and take that knee together!

The city would be losing big time if they cut our medical and gave us each 12 days a year. That's like adding 12 BF or P days for every cop every year and most cops don't go on the medical. They use their own time before they go on the medical. Every single cop would use the 12 days or sell them back at the end of the year. The city would get killed on this. If they leave it like it is the city doesn't lose anything. There'd be a lot of cops calling in for friday, saturday and sunday especially toward the end of the year as they would have to use their days or lose them. Watches would get turned into skeleton crews with people calling in using their medical days.

I still have a few years to go before I can retire, don't want to be in some Legal Nightmare.

Most companies don’t allow you to sell them back nor get paid for them when you retire. Medical data are for when you are suck. They are not earned time or p or bfs days that are given to you in a contract
City would have to do an audit on sick days used. You might be surprised at the result. Alaska aviut 15% only using them, but those may be using 170 a tear

Solution to medical abuse
Give every police officer 365 days , starting day 1 . When the abusers run out of medical days , put in no pay status . Another suggestion is deduct medical time , not IOD timefrom days counted toward pension . So a person that uses all 365 days would have to work another 1 year to get a full pension . It is fair because 90% of Police Officers do not use or abuse the medical . Police Officers with cancer ,other illness that require time off could be assisted with non duty disability or by the CFD memorial fund for officers that are enrolled in payroll deductions .

Who gives a crap. You are at headquarters and have a take home car and you are worried about this. How could you leave it at a district. You must be essential personnel and have to report at a moments notice if you have a take home car. What would the CPD do without you for the time it took you to go to the district and get the car
If you are really losing sleep over this, tell your boss you would rather not have a take home car

WTF we are all alive and the city is not under terrorists control and I wasted my money on googles and garbage bags. Now I have to carry my fire extinguisher home and delete the location of the decontamination center off my phone
Glad I’m not working with a worrier like you. Did you forget about them wearing a CPD uniform and infiltrating your team? Take some Tums and rekax

The swipe machines should look like a slot machine. All those times I've stayed over for 15 and 20 minutes will now pay off and of course I'll swipe when I'm done changing and of course after dropping a Rahma-duce.. I hope it comes with the slot machine arm...

There is no automatic overtime just because you did not swipe out at your scheduled time, however, in the absence of an approved OT slip, you will be required to submit an edit slip explaining the reason for not swiping out at your scheduled time.
