This has to be yet another "fake news" story by the Tribune:
- A man was shot on a Red Line train after getting into a dispute at a turnstile on the South Side Monday afternoon, one of 10 people hit by gunfire over 12 hours in Chicago, according to police.
The 23-year-old man approached the Garfield stop at 220 W. Garfield Blvd. around 2 p.m. and began arguing with another man, police said. The argument continued onto the platform and the train, police said.
The second man pulled a handgun and fired, hitting the 23-year-old in the chest and shoulder, according to police. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

I don’t believe it. You can’t have a gun on the CTA. Say it isn’t so. Tough guns laws are supposed to protect us. Rahm and the Dems know what’s best for me.
Hey I carried a gun in the late 1960s when I worked for the CTA even though employees were forbidden to do so. There were other employees who did so also. You just didn't talk about it. And if you were an operating employee you knew how dangerous it was out there. Of course most crime that occured was minimized by the company. The CTA police force was great, although it was a very small force to deal with such a large system.
I don’t know what you are talking about SSC. I always carry a gun on CTA - it’s full of violent offenders!

We need more gun laws. They need to make it illegal to shoot someone on a CTA platform, or illegal to shoot someone over a dispute, or illegal to shoot someone in general. They should make it illegal to illegally carry a gun that you intend to use illegally. Gun laws are the answer. If we make more things illegal, criminals will see the light and stop committing crime. Make it harder for those who illegally purchase and steal guns to legally purchase guns, so that they can't commit crimes with their illegally obtained guns. We need more regulations and fees to deter those who don't currently abide by the regulations or pay the fees from even thinking of touching a gun. Murders would be a thing of the past if we just made it more illegal.
A sign saying "Legally carried weapons only" would make sense. Maybe I should go lie down or something like that?

Read a story like this one and you know it’s an obvious fabrication. For starters, it’s illegal to carry a gun on any CTA transportation. It’s not only illegal, but there are signs and stickers sometimes to remind everyone. Law abiding citizens who have a Illinois CCW permit can’t even protect themselves on the CTA. I feel so much safer now knowing that criminals can see those no carry signs too!
Time for CPD to adopt the short range, low penetration Geco B.A.T.9mm bullet. This will help in regards to police shootings.

Both g assumption that everyone knows CTA is gun free. You have to be able to read to interpret signs and most CPS graduates fail in that catagory they may be unaware that they are breaking law. Not their fault that 2nd grade teacher is to blame.
SCC the problem is the city forgot to put up the safe passage signs. This never could have happened if they had only put up the signs. Besides that, with all the cameras all over the city keeping us safe, I'm sure they have numerous video and photo's of the offender. BTW, I didn't see the article, was there a description, I bet the Hamish were responsible again!

Whatever happened to those weapon/bag checks that were supposed to be happening at random CTA stations? I remember them being announced a few years ago, but I've only seen it once at the Halsted stop on the Orange Line.
